  1. Moral to the story. No matter what stage you are at the Fish is always Smarter than you. Finally what grandpa taught you will always produce a fish he did after-all have decades on you and already made all your mistakes. Aint it hell when you get old enough to realize the old folks really did know what they were talking about.
  2. Sounds like Pier Fishing in California, might be time for a hoop net. Great sized white congrats
  3. This was Easters Dinner, I posted it in the Beaver Lake forum but thought I would fire it off here also.
  4. Phil needs to bring more stickers to NWA next time he is over here also.
  5. Rocky Branch around June is usually thick with them.
  6. Brooder minnows, frayed rope work but they really love flicker shad unfortunately.
  7. I see all age groups come in the store from kids with parents to very old "New Noah" types. You don't see the kids during the week much but on weekends there is a bunch. I do think Video games and two parents having to work and families more spread out has taken away younger anglers being on the water more often but they are still there when they can.
  8. Hammer Nail, Tin snips and you're good to go, 3 to 4ft are best as they are easiest to pin and clean. But only fresh I tried to freeze some and the was a mistake I've chewed on leather less tough.
  9. Dan the lake is actually best for ducks when it is 8 to 10ft down, it opens up the mud-flats for them to feed in when its up they raft out in the middle making it much harder. Just use a layout or build a good portable blind. Im not kidding.
  10. Nothing at all wrong with them as one former cracker to another they do taste like reds. Now wait till you eat gar
  11. Well it made a great Easter dinner also.
  12. Divers Knife few rods and reels Costa Sunglasses and other brands More trash and lures attached to it than I can name Trolling you tend to collect all kinds of things off the bottom
  13. I would love to see it get 1123 to 1125 and hold there through summer and in to fall. That is a high water year to me as it gets in the Buck-brush and stays there long enough to provide cover for this years fry. At 1120 which it is now it is just in front of to just barely in it couple more feet and in 3 to 6 years from now depending on which research you read on fish growth in relation with out length limits we will have a strong year class swimming around.

  15. I Cannot be more proud of my wife. I opened the store at O-DARK-THIRTY, and had reports of stripers all day, one of my great sources told me exactly where and they were bruisers. It ate at me all day knowing that so when I got home I grabbed my wife and loaded up. Stopped back off at the store grabbed a few Brooders and hit the lake by 4pm. She tied in to this Bruiser and did all the work including bringing it to net like a pro. Really could not be more proud of her, 10lb test line with the power of a Calcutta and a determined woman was more than a match for it. Also the perfect fish it fought on the surface the entire time. Not 5 minutes later I tied in to a 20lb fish and she snapped this picture Totaled out with three and home by 8pm i call that a great Easter Striper Slaying. ( M_Taylor) right where I told you and they did go surface tonight.

  19. The striper bite is a no brainer and no secret anyone who goes over 12 bridge or launches at PC can easily see the fleet that's been out there. Lots of very good fish coming from the area. The crappie takes a little work to find but when you do there is plenty, If they stop biting I just pull away from the area for about 10 minutes then go right back on them and by that I mean just back off 50 to 100 feet have a soda and something to eat just to let them settle down. This front might slow things down a little but you just never know with this lake. But looks like we will get a nice high water year and some Buckbrush is already flooding.
  20. I wont keep any crappie under 12'' not enough meat IMO to waste my time cleaning.
  21. Glen the Darby O'Gill Green shamrock hits 20 you dang well know that.
  22. Have a heart attack Brit and you will quickly find new ways other than in grease to cook many things. And the flavor of fish goes so well with other things when not fired. I still do it but not nearly as often as I use to. But fresh Key Limes and Fish is definitely a flavor of spring. And best is the wife will be making me a Pie with those Key Limes
