I am a huge fan of the Olympics as a rule, I know time delay and such is hard on not knowing the events outcome so I do my best to not listen to the news or look at papers durring the event so I can watch them at home and enjoy them. But this year I have had more events ruined by announcers that tell you who won before the event is shown. Really people some of us want to see it not be told on the prelude intro into it. Then you take the NBC editing out so many other nations competing and show only the US or the top 2 has got me to the point I do not want to watch now. Take for instance the coverage of the Womens team Gymnastics, all they showed was the US and Russia and at that edited out the Russians biggest mistake of the night just to ad drama to the end. They really have ruined the event this year for me. Guess I will need to wait till the next time its in this hemisphere for a good experiance that or until someone other than NBC gets it and GETS IT!

Muddy, My heart attack 7 weeks ago is well over 100,000.00 right now and I will be on meds and seeing docs the rest of my life. Could you afford to pay for that out of pocket or the continued care for life?

If politicians could sit down and discuss things the way we have on this thread things might get done for the better of this country. You do not need to agree on all points but you can find the good ones and disguard the non-agreeable ones to come to simple laws that are benificial.
-
Justin I fully understand you and agree with you on the pre-existing part. Unfortunately the rest of the law is terrible and is going to cost us dearly, I am no fox fan but i did read the bill and I had a hard time understanding much of it and I do have a couple college degree's. I guess part of it with me is having one prof that use to say if you arew going to write a paper the average person must be able to read it understand it all in 5 minutes and you should be able to explain it to anyone in 30 seconds. This thing is a monster and no way anyone understands it. I dont see any way to get around repealing it in its whole forum and start over and keep it simple. Maybe repeal it an enact probably the best part of it in the pre-existing clause. Man if they would haveonly made a law on that things would be better for many but instead they created something that is going to harm the people in the pocket books. Read it you are a smart man and see if you agree with it then. You will probably be scratching your head like i was and seeing how much bad it has the potential for. Just a ps i dont think even the media as read it or they would have been afraid too.
-
Justin it should not affected you directly IE you having to provide it to the employee. But it will affect you in other ways, companies that supply to you will have to charge more to cover their cost, the employees you have will require more pay to cover themselves having to buy it or pay the tax ooppss fine etc. This bill will affect all of us from the clothes we wear to the food we buy and the toys we want. You think getting a little check back is something wait till you are paying 10x's that amount for goods and services in the future because of it. Example. You have Coke for sale in the store. You now have to pay more to them for it because they have to pay for the employees but they are paying more to the truckers and the ingreidient suppliers and so on so now you as well must raise your cost for that affecting how much you sell cutting into your profit all the while you had to pay more to them to get it and to your own employee so he can pay his ins or tax. Bad bad bill ramed down our throats.

Guessin 18 to 20 inches, your finger in the pick i would guess about 2 inches to the bend so measuring the fish against that comes right at about that size. Measure your rods handle and use it as a guide in the future or use car pinstriping on your rod. measure from handle to 12 inches and place one on it and then at 15 18 24 to cover most fish in the ozarks
-
Just my opinion but I believe record fish should not be allowed from private ponds or parks, though they may well be a record I liken it to High Fence Hunting which is not allowed to be in record books. The animal may have been reared in captivity but should have been released into a “wild” place to live and attain the record size. I believe it lessens records to allow brood stock to be allowed from places that can grow monsters due to farming technology.

The last two are simple to enforce, Malpractice suits are out of control, so long as the docotr was providing a service that is established ( most are ) then suing them for it should not be allowed. Now if he removed a gallbaldder instead of a cist then he should as anyone should be able to read the chart. Fair market pricing is even simpler to enforce. No way a hosptiol ER visit should be billed higher than a doctors office new patient and no way in gods green earth should a asprin be 16 dollars at a hospital. Fair pricing is easy to enforce and should be. Ill give you a real life example of how out of control it is. A vial of antivenom for a rattler runs 110.00 US dollar but a hospital charges 1100.00 US dollars for it. Fair price would be cost plus 40% just like in most retail stores for a total of about 150 a vial. Healthcare has no price regulation and certainly no gouging laws and that is what they are doing to us gouging plain and simple. We have to have it for our health and life and they know it and abuse it as much as those abusing the system.

Justin; a bad law is a bad law no matter what and this one is beyond bad. It needs to be repealed but I believe a new one can be struck but not one that is thousands of pages and certainly not one stuck up behind closed doors and passed without being read. This law as I already pointed out has cost jobs and pay raises, I have been thinking about it and wondering how many beyond what I knew of were ready to hire and ready to give raises? Not one person knows the full ramifications of this “tax” and personally I’m scared of the IRS handling it, after all they have such a stellar record in handling anything. Life insurance is not mandatory, car insurance is not mandatory and home insurance is not mandatory! This is mandatory just for being born. Now tack on it requires parents to keep kids on their insurance until they are 26 years old. If an adult and age of accountability is 18 then that needs to be the cut-off for parents having to pay for junior. It would not take much if politicians remembered who they work for to write a good law and it would not take much effort. Look at our constitutions amendments how short and simply worded they are for examples. So it can be done. I will even take a shot at it. Amendment 28, The right of citizens of the United States shall insure the right to a standard and quality of health care to maintain the goal of happiness as one of the founding tenants of the Constitution of the United States. No person born a citizen of the United States or legally becoming a citizen of the United States shall not be denied health insurance for any previous or existing condition, nor shall any physician be held to malpractice for good faith treatments. Nor shall any provider charge more than fair service industry pricing. That would cover the three main concerns of the Health Care debate guaranteeing that all people shall be allowed insurance, removing lawsuits on doctors who were doing their best and not allowing providers to charge an arm and leg for a treatment that cost pennies and making it to ONLY US citizens. But without mandating a forced tax on the country and business.

There Are Big Rainbows Still In Taneycomo...
Feathers and Fins replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
So how much did you pay Duane to send that fish from Alaska to you to pose and stock in taney Very incredable fish, I would love to get one like that. -
Phil i will try to answer you best I can, First I opposed this "tax" and still believe it needs to be repealed and rethought out. If for no other reason than it was touted as NOT a Tax so we the people were lied to. Now as to what I have already seen first hand. Employers who I personaly know were ready to start hiring upon its defeat by the SCOTUS now they are not! At least 50 jobs lost already that I know for sure of. I also knew several companies ready to give out raises for the first time in 5 years on its defeat, NOT now. So its negative impacts are already being seen and we still do not know for sure how much more negative impact it will have. As a businessman I am concerned about the cost it will in the long run put on a business and no one knows that but they are certain it will which again will curtail pay raises and hiring. From people I talk to in AR many companies are now looking to going to pure sub-contractor work which will force people to become independant contractors where they will now by LAW be required to have this insurance ( tax ) where before they could have gotten on with company did the probation period and then gained insurance. Now I agree that no person should be DQed for preexisting conditions that is a good part of the law. But the underlieing problem of why insurance is so expensive and will continue to rise while care decreases is Illegal Immigration and Dead Beats who dont pay their bills. I just got charged 21$ at the hospital for a asprin!!!! You know how many bottles I can get for that? No one can even tell me where the money from the tax is going even politicians when asked it on Interviews do not know. They did not know it was a tax even and even the SCOTUS said it was a bad bill. I hope it gets repealed and one that is not a bizzillion pages long is written. They need to write one that leaves no one out for sure and they need to have it written so no price gouging can occur. An ER visit should be no more than a new patient visit plus procedures but those two should be governed by what it would be at a docs office or as out patient. The last thing that should be put in place is a law protecting doctors from Malpractice. Do those things and cost of insurance will be dramatically reduced and allow for companies to hire and give raises. People do not understand how much this bill affects all of us in ways we do not even yet understand and that is a bad bill always.

36-Pound Brown Trout Caught Yesterday
Feathers and Fins replied to Phil Lilley's topic in White River
Dont look like many meals lost there, the things a pig. -
Al, there you go using logic on people who obviously do not have much lol. Hey at least they didnt show guys using the a light weight spinner with a penn80 wide probing a hole in Oklahoma and then going in and grabbing a big ole flatty while screaming CHOOT UM.
-
Al you're normally so dead on with your post but in this case I hate to say it but I have seen all that in real life lmao. The RnD for these firms must come from the local lake shores on a saturday instead of the simple RnD of simply watching one hour of any cable fishing shows

No I was speaking in general not at this specific case. But directly t othis case, from what I understand so far he had no history of mental illness until this event and I think mental illness is a scapegoat defense for to many people. If he had no history prior to then it should not be allowed in this trial! I am tired of hearing everyone has a mental defect. And I grew up around mentally handicap people as well and sympathize with them. But I also have seen how smart they are and how much they can bring into others hearts. So i dont buy and wont buy the line of mental defense for people who had no history of it.

D'oh 1960 - 1800 = 160 years earlier huh... My problem with all these ( early reports ) is the world population was smaller and many areas were not keeping detailed records with the attention to detail as they are now. Heck there is still a lot not know about the Brownsville Hurricane even of 1933 and even more distructive Galveston in 1900. We just did not have the tech, or population to accurately tell the tape.

As a gun owner I have followed many of these shootings because the typical response use to be BAN guns, this time around however I am seeing the opposite more prevalent in more armed people might prevent these actions in the future. I don’t think more armed people will solve the issue either, both are knee jerk reactions to fear in my opinion. What I do think is the problem is attitude of the country, When I was growing up 1st place was all Americans cared about! To quote General Patton Self respect is something I think has been lost in this Nation! I never saw a trophy given out to every child, yes the first through 3rd got them but not beyond that and I cannot tell you who second place in many Bowls or World Series was. Americans truly did not care who was second place all that was important was being 1st. If you lost you were angry, hurt disappointed and strived to be first the next season. When you were in school you tried hard to pass failure students were ridiculed and laughed at, and parents knew what the rod was and used it as well as groundings and extra choirs if you did fail in school. The nation has become tolerant and even accepting and rewarding for less than trying to be the best. Self respect is something you learn from your family and friends but when just getting by seems to be the norm now what can we expect? Well we see daily what to expect, and when the government rewards people with entitlement programs for less than best it enables that mentality. Patton’s speech in its entirety is more about personal accountability and self respect than anything else ( not the movie version but the real version) and one my grandfather had me learn because it really sinks home those values he felt and so do I. I could not post the full speach as it is not very clean but this is the full version, beware it is vulgar, direct and blunt http://www.pattonhq.com/speech.html . I do not pretend to have solutions to these nutcases but cannot help to think that if more parents were to take control of their kids lives and more politicians were to understand government entitlements were part of the problem we would have a better country. But that goes back to accountability.

Al, there is a point of cold calculated murder both this case and columbine have that fact so both should be treated the same and that is death. A young child who does not understand or know is a completely diffrent situation. A planned masacre is shows the calculation and knowledge of what the person/persons are doing. I am tired of hearing and reading about crimes that if the finality of death was the only verdict it might curb some of it.

Al, it is the media that fuels the fire for these idiots, but like the 2nd ammendment the first 1st ammendment has to be respected and followed the double edge sword. Media fuels the nutjobs, criminals and terrorist. I like you for years have said take out the fuel and the fire will be deminished! Arrest, convict, execute problem solved, send a message the 15 minutes of fame will cost you your life! Do away with life in prison or multiple year sentance that would be the same, rapest, child molesters etc get the death penalty as well. Do not take them to prison for years of appeals take them outside put a bullet in their brain and be done with it.

I have been around guns all my life, I have never seen a gun get out of its holster or case then pry opens its safe unlock the house doors after stealing the car keys drive someplace and shoot anything. I never will understand people that think guns are the probelm, lets face facts you will never weed out all the nutcases or criminals ever. IF they did not have guns they would make a home made bomb. It only takes a little time on the net to learn how with simple store bought items. I actually am suprised these people have not made a schrapnel grenade yet and done it or a sucide pack. We cannot stop those who want to do us harm if they really want to and keep it under the radar. Could a CCW stopped it? I doubt it I have been flashbanged and doubt i could have got a shot off at least for a few seconds, Even after i got my head back on Im not sure I could have without possibly hitting others in a dark area. There may have been a chance but i doubt it. We cant screen everyplace we go or be checked everyplace and these nutjobs are out there and will continue to be. It is the world we live in.

Sometimes its just easier to do what city hall wants than fight them... Hey I been hunting all my life yet even with a hunting license from multiple states and a ccw I still had to take the hunters ed class when i moved to Arkie Land... No big deal only took a minimal time out of my day.
