  1. I still just am amazed how well you do trolling with a Yak, great report and that is a very nice walleye.
  2. Typically when I see fish dead from human causes its ripping gills not lips. I would tend to agree with PD on this one, I have seen bass with their lips ripped many times and can usually find a fresh or old scar, I wouldn't say anyone is doing it on purpose but the way I see some of these kids today ripping the bass by the lip flinging it around hooting with their buddy and then still doing it looking for a camera I lean toward that being the cause.
  3. hmmmmm I could say something here on further consideration. You said today you cant tell 12'' but you can tell 3.5'' is this due to size familiarity? Your turn Joe.
  4. IT WAS ONLY 2 INCHES LONG
  5. Oh I should note over half the crappie still had eggs
  6. Sauces are easy I love making them sometimes more than eating them blending the spices and other ingredients just to hit the right flavor is so much fun.
  7. 27 total fish 10 crappie kept, several legals thrown back for being only 10'' Several stripers small and some whites a hybrid and cat 12 Bridge area with the XPS jigging spoon in 25fow. you have to look for them but when you find them its a couple at a time. Now for the question DOES THIS REALLY COUNT Doc is claiming it as one of his 4 fish lol
  8. Strawberry moon last night, your best bet would be this evening for them, start out around 4pm at Lost Bridge South and work toward point 3 humps. They are always tough on a full moon phase.
  9. For all theose who want RPS family walleye secrets itd
  10. They are in the lake swimming in their superman costumes looking at the bottom of boats yelling torpedo that sucker and then ok I better stop the Bookers is kicking in! pt 6
  11. The dam ramp is good just make sure to check it over for rocks on it before launching kids tend to throw big rocks on it.
  12. Um where is the pics, I know I have seen them but both walleye were nice looking and other might be made to cry seeing them Go West is a very smart move
  13. If you are really wanting to target Walleye and Striper then you want a unit with structure scan and sidescan. Sidescan being more used for the Stripers to pinpoint the roaming schools, You will have to learn how to use the unit to its maximum potential or you might as well just by a off the track at walmart unit for 50 bucks.... When people start talking about units over 500.00 I really think the get the feeling its a magic box that tells them what the fish is and its size in a sexy voice. If the buyer is not willing to spend hours understanding how to use the unit and then hours on the lake fine tuning it and learning it then they paid a hell of a lot of money for nothing. The Bigger the better Argument when it comes to screens is NOT true IMO. I run a HDS7 on the console and HDS5 on the bow all Ethernet connection and have no problem reading and interpreting both units. I have been in boats with HDS12 and really don't find the bigger screen any more valuable ( maybe when I get older I might for seeing ) but currently the 7 is fine. Another issue I see with people with 12's is more times than not they have multiple views up which negates any advantage a 12'' screen would give them. It is actually a disadvantage to all units regardless of maker. Also I hear is people talking about the structure scan not reading good and it mostly comes from people running to fast or to slow I have found its best reading speed to be between 1.5 and 3.5 mph for detail Slower than 1.5 you will want to use sonar mode same with faster than 8mph. No mater the unit you get do your due diligence and read as much as you can about it and use Youtube to even further your knowledge. Plan on spending a few weeks on the water dedicated to fine tuning it to what is best for it and you and for the love of God make sure you have your unit tuned to the Transducer that has to be the most common mistake I have seen FOLLOWED BY people mounting the transducer wrong or not making sure its at level.
  14. Bluebacks and Smelt? was this positively IDed by a biologist? Don't get me wrong it would be interesting but on species Blubacks are often confused with is Alewife and a positive ID needs to be done, Same with the smelt because if they are in the lake people could fish for them and they are tasty. Perch are a baitfish and gamefish so suppose you could add them Suckers are a bait as well Goldfish / Carp
  15. Beaver Lake dream regs Bass Kentucky; No size or possessions limit ( to be reviewed every two years by agfc Largemouth 5 fish 15'' minimum length Smallmouth 4 fish 12 to 15'' 1 fish over 15 '' Walleye 20'' minimum length 4 fish possession Crappie 15 fish per day with a 12'' minimum length Striper 3 fish per day 24'' minimum size limit White Bass No limit Hybrid 3 fish per day 15'' size limit Paddlefish 1 fish over 30'' per day Catfish 10 fish per day minimum 12'' length Add yellow perch to the lake with a 10fish per day limit Add Rainbow trout during cold water months Nov through May 5 fish per day
  16. Its kinda like when people ask about what spinning reel to get... I tell them to try lots at the store, ask many people for advise, read all the revues and then buy Shimano... Same holds true for fish finders Do all that then buy a Lowrance
  17. Guy was having chest pains and didn't go to the doctor raises many flags with me. Copperhead bite is very painful but in most deaths attributed to them the cause is typically anaphylactic shock. In his case it appears he had a preexisting condition going on as confirmed by his reports of chest pains and the autopsy report of heart attack. Lesson here is you are having chest pains get to the doctor immediately oh and don't mess with snakes.
  18. I certainly remember 8 and 11, that is how many stripers get in the White or so we hope I have suspicions that some are taken from Beaver to the White from anglers. Flood control I have always snickered at if the control authorities would just simply open each lake at the same level then water can be released without need of Gates being opened if they do it before storms hit and leave them open during and for a time after. Every Plumber knows which way water flows ( is a pg forum ). I know I know its Power source and Drinking water source first and fish and houses below the dams don't matter, well at least that seems to be the reasoning. But that brings up an interesting topic. All the lakes and Rivers I listed above have one common theme and that is the constant flow of water during the striper spawn. If they were to have a constant flow the odds are higher the stripers may have a successful spawn. One of the reasons I have concerns of stocking the upper white is those fish could spawn in some of the longer river arms of TR and that would increase the chances. Granted it hasn't happened yet but it is a speculation. Still say a trophy walleye are would be very cool though.
  19. Ya you have a point on that but while it last it would be nice.
  20. I wouldn't want it for the trout or the striper as a stocking per say but to enhance the area as I said. We all know how beautiful it is above water but it would be nice to see some big boulders installed like they did last year on Taneycomo or improvements to banks and access points, I can think of many things that could be done to enhance the area for people and fish as I am sure most could. I think of it as a beautiful area to spend the day in summer and beat the heat and if a tag could generate only a few thousand dollars a year that still more than goes to it now. Why not take advantage of something like that?
  21. Um that is beaver lake they are in the entire lake.
  22. <---------- Old Tarpon Angler if I see the line coming up force of habit is to Bow
  23. Confirmed Freshwater breeding is, Coosa River Lake Mead Arkansas River Lake Powell Lake Texoma Lake Marion Colorado River Lake Perris * Diamond Valley Reservoir * California Aqueduct San Luis Reservoir * Lake Silverwood * Kerr River Santee Cooper Lake Weiss Lake Skinner Star denotes confirmed fry but possible source may be via the aqueduct from the San Francisco bay area population. I haven't checked in a while the list might have grown.
  24. John everything I have read says they are NOT reproducing. I currently tend to lean this direction as well as I have not seen some things that would make me believe otherwise ( no striper under 4'' and not seeing the surface attacks that would come from it ). That said I wouldn't put it in the realm of impossible but no signs of it yet. I have heard rumors since I moved up here on 03 about AGFC removals but haven't been able to find anything hard proof wise about it just fishermen saying it. NWA Biologist is on this board and perhaps he has proof AGFC removals and potential breeding data I haven't seen if any he would be the best source for the latest info. If they (agfc) are not making attempts to remove them then it would be a potential good source of revenue to help enhance that section of river and at the same time giving anglers a trophy chance. Lets face it many novice anglers would probably love to pursue the chance at that fish of a lifetime and a 20 to 50lb striper is certainly that. They can also augment the stripers when they do shocking and netting on Beaver by simply transporting the needed number to the tailwaters. Again though I wouldn't want it in LARGE numbers but in numbers that would get people to buy the tag and give them a chance at the dream fish. Randy and now who is talking about lol... I really would like to see them managed for trophy size I really see the potential as not just possible but viable and doable with little effort. Why not give the Ozarks back the chance for World Records and monster Marble Eye. then again I would not be opposed to a 20'' length limit on the WRC. I have really come to love these fish for the fight and the challenge in finding them oh ya and doesn't hurt they look so good on a plate
  25. Only from Houseman to Parker is special zone, below Houseman is not.
