  1. Looks like a caller on top shooter on bottom blind nice set-up double dog doors are very nice.
  2. Geese are everywhere here is some from the weekend and This is a shot from the family farm of my spread Im going to try this and see if people can see it. this is several flocks of snows and specks coming to visit. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=780754955288427&l=5926979831655856886
  3. There is bad things need to be done to feathered critters for certain. Also helps having good friends that keep the current reports coming very detailed and accurate. My best so far this year came last week on the farm when I had an eaglehead try landing on my belly I wish that it could have been video taped when I grabbed his legs. I look so forward to the farm every year and hunting old school just laying in the corn rows with only decoys to cover me. Don't get me wrong layout blinds are nice but its sometimes nicer to go back to the roots when laying in a frozen field with thousands of geese are landing on you. And to everyone if you have never hunted honkers this year is the year to do it they are everyplace, as Ducky alluded to he gave me the heads up yesterday and I went and looked and killed. Find anyplace with open water and just wait! If the water is open its because the birds are keeping it open and they will be back.
  4. enjoy
  5. How many you want? I have about 20 and I know Ducky and Marty have plenty. Lets start off with simple Crockpot Goose. 1. Cut breast in half then cut in to 1 inch cubes 2. Add fresh carrots, Potatoes, Celery, tomatoes, corn, onion and spices ( never use sage ) 3. Place in crock pot for 4 hours on high. Goose Sandwich meat 1. Fillet each breast about 1/4 inch thick pcs 2. Salt, Pepper and onion 3. Bake in over at 350 for 20 minutes 4. let cool in fridge over night Baked Goose. 1. Put fillets in baking bag 2. Season with your favorite spices 3. Shake well 4. Add 2 tablespoons Butter 5. Seal bag 6. Put in over at 350 cook 20 minutes per 1lb of meat. I can go on if you like or you can also use my duck cooking recipe. Ducky and Martys Turn.
  6. Don't forget the old bridge at PC Marina it is just to the NE of ( dock about 50yrds off its east corner. I believe Doc has a good screen shot of it. There is also the old chicken coup in PC.
  7. For those participating good luck but use caution there is a lot of floating logs and debris in the lake right now and some of it is definitely of the size that could sink a boat. Prairie creek had some rather large logs as did the area around the islands at PC up to about the mouth of Montne. There was some large Styrofoam and other strange objects around Rocky Branch and the back of Big Ventris there is a sunken boat. There will also be a large amount of waterfowl hunters out that morning so do not go running toward ducks they are probably decoys the old hatchery the last couple days looked like Bayou Meto. Also keep a sharp eye peeled for kayaks and canoes there has been a large number of people using them and some are very low profile almost impossible to see till you are on them. New boaters to the lake DO NOT run across the buoys in front of 12 bridge it will rip your lower unit off, same holds true for the cut at Larue its passable at low speed if you know where the rocks are but not worth it. My guess is 13lbs will be average bag of 5 size and it will take 16lbs to 18lbs for the win. I put 13 in the boat Sat and 14.2 in the boat yesterday My money would be on someone finding a good smallmouth bite from Starky to Rocky Branch early then having the balls to run up river to try for a kicker LMB.
  8. Actually The bridge was built but in 1943 the bridge was destroyed by a flood. A low water bridge was built in its place. If you go to the History of Lost Bridge site it has a short article on it. http://www.lbvca.com/Pages/History/lostBridge.htm
  9. Guess my arm was hurting for the pull of a line. 5 crappie 4 were keepers plus and 6 bass to 3lbs. spooning in very deep water down to 42fow. Pole timber was the key.
  10. Color of said Lowe?
  11. I marked a good amount of bait from PC to HSB yesterday and noticed a bunch of striper fishermen around the islands. Also marked a ton of crappie in the same zone enough I am seriously thinking about going out and playing with them today. Cast n Blast is not beyond my doings lol.

  13. Every so often the subject of old pictures of the lake comes up. I thought it would be neat if we could get all of them in one thread. So post whatever you have Old or New. From the Amphitheatre in Monte Ne to the Ugly Green House. Lets make, Show and Share the History of this Beautiful lake.
  14. http://www.rogersarkansas.com/museum/MonteNe/retreat.htm We have these show up from time to time maybe Beaver needs a History thread... BRB with one.
  15. Shallow creek feeds it plus the back end is shallow and heats much fast so with a westerly wind it warms the area much quicker.
  16. So I had my arm twisted to go out to the lake today there was a rumor of geese. Anyway did spend some time on the graph while cruising. South of Montne ( toward hickory) water was between 41 and 43..... Back of Montne 51.2 to 47. Beaver shore to Horseshoe Bend 44 to 47. Large shad schools in front of Beaver shores and in Montne. Crappie marks in both areas from 15 to 25fow, White bass in same area. Did see plenty of people spoon fishing couple trollers. OK WHO HAD THE OAF Truck in PC this afternoon?
  17. With the lake up more inflow coming in and it sitting around 47 ( just verified the temp ) I would be looking in 15 to 30 fow from Hickory creek to Horseshoe bend on pole timber. Also look for stand alone boulders along bluff walls in that same depth. That's my best guess, it typically takes me about 2 good days after duck season to find them so be ready to cover a lot of water. Trolling will be the best way to find them and then when you do try jigging them catch 4 then move on mark a good 10 to 20 areas and after that repeat the steps catch a couple and move to the next etc. Sorry I cant be more help but it is Duck season and my attention is diverted to Feathers and not Fins this time of year.
  18. Getum Marty.
  19. First time I have checked in for a while, been on the family farm killing in wholesale fashion. I wish there was a way to post FB videos I tried to get some but as the few on FB could see I kept having to drop the camera for the gun. I will have plenty of snow and speck meat for a long time. The specks this year are suicidal.
  20. If there was ever to be a duck that rides The Short Wind Bus its a gadwal! I have had them land with us picking up birds and dogs in decoys. They are like bluegill perfect for kids.
  21. Oh and I get bitched at for giving out secrets. ya ok might as well tell people the Bandit 300 series is deadly on beavers crappie as well
  22. LMAO you know as well as I do fishing changes on Beaver every day um scratch that Beaver changes hourly sometimes.
  23. Works for me
  24. Not that I saw but I was hunting.
