Well the cats out of the bag. So I will simply state I had to go to HI the other day and found whites right by the marina I only could shore fish them but still had fun.
Hey Quill. There is NO BASS in the back of Montne and they by no means would be chasing shad and absolutely positively are not hitting Pop R's or Jerk baits in 1 to 3 fow. It would be a major waste of your time to go there as there are NO BASS there.
39 to 47? There has to be a Mudline and possibly a surface thermocline somewhere in that area Find the cleaner side/warmer side and that is where the fish should be.
Christmas Sales will be full force next week possibly a good time to upgrade or get a new unit.
Hi Pat, Still should have took my gun from me and showed my brother and son how to kill ducks while Marty and I talked. BBQ Sauce is getting a real work-out BTW. Glad you made it here now teach that old fart about facebook lol.
Ya there were a few in their Sunday as well chasing striper near the big community docks. Nice of them to keep kicking the ducks up for me
Glad your enjoying but you are already missed.
Someone is enjoying his new found freedom Way to Go Derek. I am not surprised at where you caught her one single bit either. Were the shad still in the back thick?
Gregg, Beaver is not nice to new people she likes to make you earn it, but after you do she is a very rewarding mother. Just enjoy the many days and like Doc said write it down and learn from it, You have to serenade a lady and she is every bit of that.
Downriggers dont hurt either for when they decide to be to deep to normally reach 35 fow not a problem.
How do you know when you are crappie? Sometime your sonar tells you if you know how to read it very well but when in doubt I CHEAT and put down the camera, word of warning on the camera FISH like to eat it so be sure to strengthen the line for it.
I know the crappie fishing in winter can be excellant but do to feathered critters I dont go after them typically till the First day after duck season.
Oh and if you want flicker shad stay away from Cabelas their colors are not the best, go to Hook Line and Sinker in Rogers, Aaron keeps the colors in stock that work on Beaver.
Keeper size is 10'' legal. I try not to keep anything under 12'' and there are many in the 14 to 16'' range my best last year was 19'' but have caught 20'' fish.
As to where they are its a lot of trolling time. I try to locate at least 5 spots in a 1 mile run and then continually troll over them using flicker shad. The high speed method gets the active biters and typically the bigger fish, there is also that neat little bad habit of walleye to like hanging out with them so the bonus fish is always possible. The negative is the small Kentucks like hanging out in the same area.
The best crappie zone is from 12 bridge to Hickory Creek yes its a lot of area to look in but that is why I troll for them. The further up river you get the more likely you will run in to whites, hybrids and stripers also.
140ft back on 10lb seagar floro at 2.5 mph
#6 will run 14 to 16
#7 will run 14 to 18
#8 will run 16 to 20
#9 will run 18 to 22
Each boat is a little different but that's what I have found for that speed and that line
Lower speed 1.7 to 2.5 mph use flicker shad and even when baits super thick just run the outside edges of it. If its main channel bait get away from it and go to the flats. If its on the flats hit the cuts off the flats and points. If J-Doc is around just troll right next to him and smile as you reel them in
