  1. Those dates might work for me Hoglaw, I"ll be sure there isn't something going on those weekends!
  2. Hoglaw, count me in man!! December might look better for me, but possibly by the end of this month. I need 12 to 14 days of harvest to finish, not counting rainouts. I"ve got a L48 supreme with 25 jet I can bring if several want to come. Love to hang with you guys and try to perfect my Zig jigging, plus just be cool to meet and fish with new people!! I will drive past Muddy on my way to the white. Lets figure something out and do it!!
  3. Cold water smallmouth is something iv'e been working on for a few years now, it's when I have time to fish, so have tried to adapt. 19 inch is my biggest Ozark smallie so far, would love to break that coveted 20 this winter!! You guys get the itch to try some new water this winter down my way holler at me!!
  4. It's a Dandy for sure, what a great fish!
  5. Id say 19.5 on the middle pic?
  6. Great video! I haven't fished that river since last winter, but used to fish it a lot "via my original username..lol". Lobo is where i usually put in, love the deep runs and moss beds on that stretch. Caught a 22 inch brown about 3 years ago in the very stretch you where fishing. I guess Lobo got there dock fixed up? Last time I was there was after that 17 inch snow, it collapsed the roof on the dock. As far as the question on paddling a Supreme, several of the guides up there do it. I use my trolling motor, but I guess they can keep proper boat position better, and maybe it's more subtle. Very neat river to fish, can't wait to get back down there this winter!
  7. Yes, pure awesomeness. Reading this as i'm about to go to work this morning, pure torture guys... Suppose to get rained out again next week, if the river isn't blowed out, looking forward to a good jerkbait bite!! Looks like a lot of leaves blew off in the wind, was is bad enough to affect the Jet yet?
  8. You never know, but if it keeps raining, guess I could sneak up on one of the rainouts, but after a stretch of averaging 17 hours a day, kinda wore out. Guess I could tough it out for some good fishing!! If weather cooperates, can still get done before thanksgiving. I'm ready for some winter fishing!!
  9. Man, I've got to work this weekend, but i'd love to go to the place at Hardy this weekend. Saw these pics today from that area, the colors are beautiful this year, gosh I love this region, my favorite place in the world! Oh how i'd love to do one of those overnight floats to, but it's harvest time, my only payday of the year, and it's a late crop...
  10. Man, I got to fish with you one of these days, love zig jigs! Look like December this year, before i get to do much fishing... Great report!
  11. Pulled the trigger here awhile back on a new editing program for my pics and videos, Powerdirector 12. I've posted clips from this video before, but used them to play with the program over the weekend. I've only touched the surface, but like a lot of the features. Gonna try to take the gopro and get some harvest pictures from the farm this fall. This is my favorite video I've ever taken, a great day with my Dad that almost wasn't, talked him into going last minute, as he declares himself the worlds worst fisherman.. It was one of those days, we didn't catch many fish on this early spring day, but when you hooked up, it was a Dandy!!
  12. Wolly worms and Sundogs predict the weather better than most weathermen!! Great game, as a fan since 85, it's been a fun ride! That bat by Matt Carpenter (aka Eddie Rabbitt) was the turning point of the game, got in kershaws head and he never got it back!
  13. Duct Tape/ Gorilla tape has been mentioned on here, which i'd say is a no brainer to take with you. I have finished days of harvest on a picker or a combine because of Duct Tape and bailing wire. Curious has anyone knocked a hole in there canoe or plastic kayak and used the tape to patch it up to finish out. I'm here to tell ya, I think Gorilla tape would do that as long as you didn't scrap it over rocks, it works wonders on the farm!
  14. Coosa, curious as to where you got that tent, that's might be something i'm looking for. Looked at some at ( sorry Al ) Walmart, found one that boxed up was even smaller than yours there, ti would fit inside the coosa easily. For those who haven't been around one of these Kayaks, you might be surprised as to how much room is actually inside there.
  15. There is a lot stuff mentioned I probably won't use on my first trips, but good ideas for future consideration. I am basing my first trips more on fishing, I don't wanna go bare bones, or extravagant either, somewhere in between hopefully! Since this topic, I've talked to my father in law, ( who has an old, but huge grummen canoe ) about floating possibly the Buffalo, it's not to far from where they live. I'm already talking about stuff he can haul...lol
  16. Chief, my Coosa is getting a Complex. I hear what your saying though, if I really get into going on overnight trips, may wanna look at a canoe. I'm there with ya Fly, wanna eat decent out there. The best catfish I've ever cooked was on a river bank, as well as the best hot dog. Something bout a campfire, if I'm taking the Coosa, probably take a saw for wood, and charcoal for backup. That's the kind of stuff I want to get away from as well, when I'm on my favorite stretch of the Eleven Point, and my phone won't work, I love that. Only exception might me right now, as I'd like to hear a little of the Cards in the Playoffs!
  17. Great stuff Al, appreciate yours and everybodys comments. Actually looked at some Sealine bags on Ebay before ya'll mentioned those. I don't plan on going to extravagant on food, but I would like to be prepared to cook some goggleeye for supper, or if the river permits maybe catching a catfish off the bar at the camp. Guess I could make one of Chiefs brownie sandwiches he talks about...lol I had thought of this, if I had a partner that had a canoe, I have nearly an umlimited supply of 5 gallon buckets, we go though probably a 100 a year here on the farm.
  18. Wow, I appreciate all the response, there sure is a wealth of knowledge on here when it comes to this topic. I have most of the things mentioned, but a couple I don't have and was wondering where you get them, or recommend brand, is the dry bags and the water purifier. I agree it would be nice to know you have an endless clean water supply in case your stranded, the purifier sounds like a great idea. I have an Academy fairly close to me that might have all this stuff, didn't know if walmart stuff would suffice. Also, one thing nobody mentioned, (or maybe shouldn't admit to), it personal protection while out on the water, ( bears, cats, scenes from deliverance, etc...) Haven't really checked on the laws on this kinda stuff yet, I have talked to people that take precautions when the go on a long trip. Shoot, my grandpa (which would be rocking 90 now) carried a revolver when we would camp out overnight on the St. Francis here at home, he was young enough to remember the big Cats we had here before all the land was cleared, and old school enough to take whatever precaution he thought nessecary. Cats were thick back in the 30's around here.
  19. I've grown up fishing, and even fishing all night on the river here at home for Flathead, but always had a truck available as we camped at boat ramps. My Ozark river trips so far have always been day trips. I'm planning to do my first overnight trip one of these days, and was thinking about stuff i'd need to take for a good overnight trip. I got a good idea what needs to be taken, but figure many of you seasoned overnighter veterans might have some advice. I know more can be packed in a Canoe, but I've got a Coosa, and hope I can get enough inside it. (hoping I can get my Coleman stove in there..lol) It's not really knowing what to take, but how do some of you guys pack it, and keep it dry, plus there might be things I haven't thought about. Idealy, I hope I can float sometime with a friend with a canoe, but I believe I can get enough in that Coosa to get me by for a one, possibly two nighter? Thanks in advance, Bret..
  20. Ham, I might be interested in one, none of my ultralights have the action I like for those jigs.. That's about half the price of a crossfire sounds like.
  21. Wow, that's so fat, it almost don't look like that would be a good thing for the fish...lol. Dandy!
  22. Pretty much everything Ham and Greasy keyed in on, I love my supreme for all those reasons, I"d say that AFF boat would be similar. I feel like they also float better, when not on plane, you can drift over some shallow stuff at Idle as well. Mines the 48 inch model, so it's smaller than this boat pictured here looks like. When you get into the Arkansas Ozarks, these boats I feel are actually the norm. On the White and Little Red rivers, this is what you see most of the time. The sure do slide over rocks better, but not sure what a direct hit would be like, hope to never find out to compare..lol After using mine around here in the Delta part of the state, got a couple guys interested in one. I caught a mess of flathead last year on the St. Francis when a couple "ole river rats" told me the river was to low to run during the drought. I went anywhere I wanted to in mine!
  23. Ditto, one of if not the finest river in the Ozarks, with a great guy and guide! That's almost my new favorite place in the world!!
  24. Great fish Andy, got to go fishing with you one day! Dandy!!
