This is a video from the Feb. 27, fishing with Ham and Richard Cross of White River Zig Jigs. I got tons of film from that day, where I help a friend of mine that runs a local outdoor program, but I wanted to share this condensed clip here as well. Ham and Richard were AWESOME to fish with, and excellent people and fisherman. I met Ham for the first time during the OA trout trip this winter, and glad to call him a friend now! Richard has caught a ton of these over the years, but he still gets pumped and focused when he hooks a dandy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IlM3qLCMOQ

What a great tribute to what sounds like a great man. My grandfather was a WWII vet, and always say that they were the the greatest generation! Thoughts and my prayers are with you and your family for your loss..

They actually interviewed the folks yesterday that owned the dog. Now there saying dog attack or coyotes. The dog was 13 years old and was a long time pet of these folks. Somebody jumped to conclusions I guess. But it was on our local news the other night and thinking it was a bear, they were putting a warning out. There was a trail cam picture of a bear somewhere around those parts that was also posted on the air, but from earlier in the year. It was unrelated to this. I'd vote for pack of Coyotes.

I was more of a 4 Horseman fan back in the Arn Anderson days... I also thought the fellow that lives in the rough, was walking kinda gingerly on those bare feet... -
I had the same experience on the Little Red in last Dec. They were running two units and stirred up the trash and grass, my jet gave me fits. That being said, that occasional downside does not deter me from loving my jet. The shallow water operation far outways the minuses. When on the Eleven Point and Current, I've never had any troubles!

I'm gonna make me a drag chain like Ham is explained. We went Thursday, and I had a charged up trolling moter, we used his chain on my boat and never deployed it one time. Only one time all day did the chain hang, and the inner tube gives enough slack that you won't get thrown. I've got about the same boat you explained, love mine to death!!

Wham, Bam, Its Going To Get Yuck Again!

My deck is starting to glaze over here, we are expected to get half to possibly one inch of ice here before it turns to sleet. More about 50 miles south. Got my generator ready just in case. Seems like it's getting colder faster than they predicted here, so hoping it will be more sleet and snow. Everybody be safe out there! -
Thought this was a neat clip on what they do to monitor the trout in Arkansas tailwaters. Basically something to watch since we are fixing to be iced in.

Well said Mitch, that's a great view to have! As far as the show, it's pretty much what I expected! -
Can you fish any area you want? Guess I need to read up on this, sounds like fun!

Only thing I might add to Ham's info there Cartney, is for about an hour Thursday, Richard was whacking them on a pink and white zig jig, yes pink and white.. I watched him try his olive an ginger one, then after about 5 minutes went back to it, and immediately caught 3 to 4 in a couple minutes. I'm thinking about adding that color to the arsenal.... There's been discussion on here about the numbers of fish caught on these jigs, i'm here to tell ya, we considered Thursday a slower bite, and still caught 120ish between the 3 of us. On some of my footage, I got a minute and a half clip, where Ham and Richard boat 4 fish, while some fellows in a drift boat in the background are casting flyrods with not one hit. I love to flyfish also, but man jig fishing will get the numbers, plus some big ones mixed in!

Hard to add to Hams report, it was just a great day to be on the water. Ham "the jig master" and Richard "the jig maker" as I called them today have this thing down pat. Got some awesome footage I hope to share here sometime. Thanks to Richard for Lunch, that was some awesome pulled pork. Ham you ran the boat great, and thanks for doing that, I've been looking at footage and it's good, sound was awesome to, couldn't of done that without you running the ship!! Zig Jigs Rock, and yes this picture here shows that they catch BIG Fish as well!!

Here's another clip they put up I saw posted on Facebook...lol.. http://www.discovery.com/tv-shows/clash-of-the-ozarks/videos/poachers-on-the-land.htm -
Lol, how did I miss this thread. Terrierman said it right, that really is all there is to it with Ham. I to fished with him on the first day of the OA trip. I'm telling you, he really does do this, I've seen him land 3 to 4 fish in 5 minutes a couple times that day. He wasted little time, and fishes with barbless jigs, so he has quick releases without ever touching the fish, that alone could get him a dozen extra plus fish a day. He has this jig method down, proof is in the pudding as they say, and I've seen all I needed to see. I never doubted him, but after witnessing it, I believe any report he puts out. The best part of fishing with Ham that day, he took time to teach me his favorite knots for tying leaders, and loop knots for his jigs, and sharping hooks. Better than any guide I've been with.

I can't compare, as I just got into kayak fishing myself last year, but I went with the Coosa also and love it. I stand and fish it some now, but if your wanting to set up higher, the high/low seat they offer give you options. I leave mine in the high position, but if I went down something knarly, i'd probably put it in the low position, but probably wouldn't have to. Here's a video I made while fishing on the Southfork last June....Love mine!

Smallie, I wasn't offended at all, i'm talking about the folks up way off that watch this and actually think we live like this here. The problem with texts and words is you can't always read what somebody is saying and there emotion. I think it's hilarious and don't know these folks, just of them as I go to Hardy a lot in the summer. The brain cell thing guess wasn't worded right I guess, sounded bad. I've heard the Arkansas jokes all my life, even from folks that live 3 miles from here across the river in the bootheel, that have the exact same accent I speak with..lol, sometimes it gets old, but it's harmless I've learned over the years. Nothing personal towards anybody, sorry it sounded that way. Just posted this because some will find it funny or interesting. After watching this when it comes on I may be disgusted myself.... I do know one of the fellows a little bit as he had a business there I went to, a great guy.. I know enough about it that it's not reality.....lol

Arkansas gets stereo typed, and always will, some will believe this is the way it is, most with any kind of brain cells will know this is scripted for entertainment. I used to be more defensive about the views of our state, but I love living here, and don't need any reassurance from somebody not in the know to make it better. I'll watch the show just to see where it goes, it's bound to be entertaining.. The Evans guy has developed a disposable toothbrush, "that's right", and he airs his commercials about it on Crowbars outdoor show, so figure they really get along just fine....lol I know of some of these people in the clip, I think most if not all are actual residents of the area acting in this. The preacher is Tommy Garner, who has a local radio outdoor show in Mammoth Spring, that little clip there is kinda impressive on his acting skills.
