I also recieved a check in the mail. Mine was for $65.74. In my eyes, the system is broken, and they could have kept the check and used it to make much needed corrections.
I am in the Insurance Industry( just sales, I do not have any pull one way or another), and would like to inform the "common man" that insurance companies are a business, not a charity. If you do not want to deal with them, if the price is to high, you have an option. You are not required to buy insurance of any kind. .....you are not required buy a car...... In my opinion, government should not have any control in private business.
In the "humane" Country we live in, we do not require grocery stores to give you quality food at an affordable price (or free), so why health insurance? Best I can make out, even the healthiest person needs food to survive, and not everyone qualifies for food stamps. (another story all together).
I have saved much money by having health insurance, and I too have pre-existing conditions, but I don't feel that the taxpayers should be required to pay for my medical situations.
We are taking away any personal accountability, while common sense is quickly dissapearing.
