  1. Exactly. An extra sandwich and a few beers is way cheaper than a jet boat.
  2. My kid and my granddog scouted out a section of it today. She said she spotted a few bass.
  3. Yep that was Jbird, and Orion when he was just a pup. It's good to have an energetic pal along when it's time to drag up a shoal. 🙂
  4. 30 feet/30 yards...... Tomato/TomAto 🙂
  5. She paddle boards. I'm gonna help her outfit her P-board for fishing.
  6. I'm digging up this old thread because my daughter wants to know if the Blue gets a decent spring run of White bass. Can anyone confirm ?
  7. That's actually a good idea. Call first and just order over the phone. You're freakin' brilliant ! 🙂 I knew there was a reason why I wanted you on my team.
  8. A ruffle 🙄 We're navigating rivers here, not the pillow isle at Bed Bath & Beyond. Riffle, ya moron ! 😅
  9. Drag it 30-40 feet.......Run 2-3 miles......drag 30 feet.......Run another few miles. It ain't that bad. As long as you have 14-15" of water you're good to run a prop outboard.
  10. If there's a downside to online ordering it is that places (and they ALL do it) will claim to have what you're looking for, and will take your money immediately......Then a couple days later they will inform you about a delay because an item is temporarily out of stock. If you choose to cancel the order at that time, it will take 7-12 days to get your funds refunded. That's BS, but it is the game that they all play.
  11. Manual start outboards on canoes just doesn't work very well on Ozark streams. There's a good reason why you seldom see anyone using them. If you truly need a pusher on your canoe you're going to be far better off with a good deep cycle battery and a 12v trolling motor. If you're dead set on a prop outboard craft for Ozark rivers, and you have 5k to spend......I only had 2800.00 tied up in this one. It got the job done in style. 😉
  12. Someone here pointed out that those are "native grasses" and MDC cherishes them. 😂
  13. Pete has apparently never SPANKED the fish, and then been anxious to replenish his supply of the flys he spanked them on.......Or else he would understand. 😁
  14. In the past, yeah OF COURSE. Regarding a number of things. Total waste of time in every instance. Don't you remember how inflamed I was about the bottom of the Niangua being littered with gigged rainbows from Barclay all the way up to NRO ? Spoke to 2 different offices. Nobody even showed up to verify my concern about it.
  15. Furthermore...... We have a trout hatchery right down the road here. Little Bitty/Teeny Tiny operation compared to the one at BS. And is run by a family of hillbillies with a degree in SQUAT ! I bet you'd be completely blown away if you visited it. Beautiful fish. Rainbows and Brookies. And ALOT of them. If THEY can do it.......?????? Take a look at this gorgeous specimen And that is a poor battered escapee, that BTW.....exceeds the Mo. State record listing by over a pound. There are two catagories of OPINIONS.....Well Founded opinions, and Feel Good opinions. I don't wanna insult anybody, but all of these reality ignoring-feel good opinions are detrimental to progress.
  16. I was just saying...... You STL area folks can skip sending me a Christmas card because I probably won't receive it until Memorial day. Hopefully you sent my Valentine before Halloween. 😘
  17. Appreciate that. I quit ordering from F-C and Hargrove's because anything coming from Eastern Mo. takes an eternity to get here. I can receive orders from CA way sooner than I can get stuff from St.Louis. I assume it is assisted by the prevailing wind. 🙄
  18. It's hard not to notice that after all of the "upgrades" production and efficiency goes DOWN substantially. That is my main point. They expanded the hatchery, got way better equipment, hired more hands, started charging more money.....Then began producing LESS. Right, SOH is twice the size.....but let's compare the size of the area they service. It's probably 10x the size.
  19. Where does one go to harvest an Amhurst Pheasant ? Technically they are called "LADY Amhurst pheasant tippets". Does that mean that it has to come from a hen? I don't even know where, when, or why, I got the few feathers that I had. I've never used them in anything else before.
  20. I'm sure lots of things COULD be used. But as well as that fly pattern treated us..... I'm personally not changing a single thing. I have 5 of them (4 #14's and 1 #16) left in my box, I'll pamper those until I can get my hands on more Amhurst tippets. I have one little sliver left. Priceless!!!
  21. I like how you dodged the word filter there. 👍 We all knew what you meant. 😂
  22. IKR🙄. I had to order more Amhurst tippets from California.....and they're backordered. Piper wants to just use white hackle fibers and tip them with a black Sharpie marker. Blasphemy! I shall NOT!
  23. It's a Royal CoachHump Caddis VARIANT 👍
  24. I prefer across or down if possible.
