  1. A fairly fast 6-7wt. rod paired with a WF line, 4x and 3x leaders, and a 4ips sinking leader. Other than a few flys, and a stringer for the walleye and whites 😊 that's all you need. Is Plateau fly shop still open ?
  2. That's no reason to end a friendship. Why ya gotta be so intolerant ? 🙄
  3. Pay particular attention to Note #3....All bets are off if your battery is near dead. This is why I crow about operating with a half-assed battery, or a battery that is on its last leg, all the time.
  4. Find a backend flat with 48-52° water and start slinging a 1/2oz. Red lipless crankbait. Guaranteed recipe for a toad. 😊
  5. Well it's recommended for door weatherstripping and power window tracks.....if it doesn't eat THAT spongy crap up then I can't imagine it destroying a fly line. I dunno, I'm fixin' to do some backwoods chemical analysis as soon as the Amazon drone drops that RIO crap off here.
  6. Dang, if that wasn't a short 15" transom I'd pounce on that first thing tomorrow morning.
  7. I have silicone lube in 3 different forms if that's all it is. Spray lube, non combustible airgun oil, and clear silicote grease. Pick one. 😊
  8. I wore these all last year, and from the looks of them I think I can get another 2 years out of them. https://indestructibleshoes.com/collections/ryder?fbaid=6170242703953&utm_term=OM_6170242703953_# Lightweight, tough as hell, and they dry fast.
  9. They do great. Strap a10ft. Push pole to the side, as they are easier to pole than they are to paddle. I had a little 3hp outboard for mine....but I never used it. They zip right along with a trolling motor.
  10. You two should go fishing together with your matching Peter pan shoes. That'd be precious 😍 😂
  11. I thought those 5 ten shoes looked like Peter Pan slippers. I'm not all that big on "style" but I can't fish right if I am dressed like a fairy.
  12. With all this talk of little Jon boats lately, why doesn't anyone consider PVC toons like the Pond Prowler ? Those things are the cats posterior for everything that a small Jon boat is designed for. I had a 2-man Bass Tracker Bantam when I was 16-18 and me and my buddy put some serious miles (river and strip pit) on that sucker. And then sold it for only 100.00 less than I paid for it new. What a bargain! Slides right in the back of a truck and is stable enough for 2 guys to stand up and fish. Hell, just thinking about it makes me want another one.
  13. I don't have that problem, possibly because I cut the first 2-4' off the tip to begin with and whip a new loop into it. New lines always have too much thin tip and they are always so stiff. I love a line that is broke in good enough so that it is more supple.
  14. He ain't gonna know! 😂 And I'm sure RIO isn't gonna broadcast it.... because it's probably something that I have a gallon of right here in the shop already. 🙄
  15. Oh yes it does! Haven't you ever noticed that a line casts better than it ever has right before it's time to replace it? Just gotta clean it up and fill in those cracks with something that is slick, repels water, and will stay put awhile. I have a bunch of those Cortland pads, but that stuff doesn't last but a day or two at most. Whatever RIO uses seems to really bond well. I ordered some of the stuff Ronnie suggested, so we'll see.
  16. Yep, we have some significant water quality issues here, and it didn't just begin. Nor will it ever end, because they won't even test the water quality anymore. The economical impact of those test results is too much to bear, so they'd rather not know....or have it known. I figure that the best water is in the upper reaches of the tributary arms....so that is where I spend all of my time.
  17. I wonder what that stuff actually is ?
  18. Best way to do it, and the best stuff to use? I feel like I've tried it all, but I have a feeling that somebody knows a better way to clean and treat a line. What exactly is the lovely slick stuff that is on a brand new Rio line? Seems to last a year or more.....and I want some of that, whatever it is.
  19. When the trout parks are up and running fast it's a good time to practice your bow&arrow casting. A good number of fish will be right along the bank in those little miniature eddys that are the size of your kitchen sink. A ginger Woolly bugger or a ginger leech pattern will get'em.
  20. I thought I had a spring on my property when I first bought it, then a couple years later my neighbor on the hill had to replace his septic tank. The spring mysteriously dried up. 🙄
  21. And to think his favorite place in the world is the Missouri Ozarks. 🤗 Seriously good stuff 👌

    Chiefs

Yeah 😅 After the first 15 minutes I thought it was over for the Chiefs. But they pulled it together in a big way once they finally scored. Looking forward to next Sunday now. 🏈
  23. I think everyone overestimates the actual amount of force being applied to the hook point during a hard hook set. With a medium action rod and 25-30ft of 12-14# line out..... I'll bet that you can't consistently rip a sycamore leaf in half with a hook set. 😊
  24. Well who is it? Let's find a video of him fishing all day and then maybe we can determine if he has it all figured out or not. 🙄
  25. Very dirty on the upper end (obviously),but that's not always a bad thing. I've done real well under these exact conditions in the past by slow rolling a big thumper spinnerbait down steep chunky banks.
