  1. I'm beginning to see a pattern here. Remember the 5 middle-eastern ("American Soldiers") from Ft.Wood that all died crossing flood water on their way back to the base after spending 2 days visiting the lake area?
  2. The interpretation that the only time a fishes home area is "special" to them is during the spawn, is flawed thinking. If you are anything like me you spent years and years studying bass behavior, you bought electronics that help you find key spots that fish RELATE TO. You know a promising area when you see one. Yet you're gonna assume that constantly relocating fish miles from their chosen home range areas doesn't degrade certain areas of the lake and overall effect the fish's habits? How do you pattern fish that are removed from their familiar environments and are completely lost? You should have learned by now that just any old brushpile, any old point, any old ledge just doesn't cut it. If you're going to support the constant unrelenting scattering of bass then why do you need topographic maps, sonar, or any knowledge at all about preferred fish habitat and how they relate to certain areas? The 4+pounder that you caught from that certain cove you like so well and hauled 24 miles away 2 months ago is still finning around out there trying to find a place that suits him. And when/if he does then boom, he bites the wrong thing and begins the lost and lonely process all over again. No patterning his behavior because it's totally random. The fish is lost. Some jackleg trolling a crankbait over 70ft. of water will probably catch him next. And for what???? You didn't make any money, and nobody thinks your awesome. If you could have just scored him and released him back to his familiar area then it could have just resumed its life unscathed.
  3. I feel connected to this remark, so I'm anxious to hear why you think I quit. If you think I quit because I was loosing money then you're right. For the record I quit BEFORE there started being 70 tournaments per month, so therefore it wasn't about feeling sorry for the fish. I quit because there wasn't any money in it, and even though I had beaten a bunch of the best anglers in the country more than a few times I knew darn well that I couldn't do it every day. The odds are better spending that 50-100 bucks entry money on scratcher tickets twice a week. There's truly nothing worthy of respect to prove. It's all pointless, so why relocate 14,000+ bass every month on every lake in the country? It's just stupid and irresponsible. Doing stupid and irresponsible things is fine as long as it isn't hurting or bothering anything, but when the number of events gets to the level it is at today I dare you to deny that the effect is a negative. Go ahead, say it ain't so ! Customary smiley, so you know I'm not mad or anything...😘
  4. There could be anything floating around out there. Dock floats, boats that have come unmoored, people on air mattresses. If you can't see a bouy then you probably wouldn't see any of those things either. Other boaters always throw a fit about somebody with a spot-light, but bygod if I can't see then it's getting plugged in. Why not have headlights on a boat? It works on the highway.
  5. Yeah whatever. I quit trusting, and started being skeptical of everything the government does immediately after 9-11 Far as I can tell they are all corrupt and rotten to the core. Nothing anyone can do about it, but I'm not gonna fly old glory and carry on about how proud I am of this country until a number of things are brought to light and made right. I'm ashamed of where we are right now. It's sad.
  6. If you can afford it, marina storage with a full-service contract is great. You may get hit with occasional charges that truly weren't necessary, but the payoff of worry free boating is worth it to alot of people.
  7. "Acting"? Key word there. "Handling yourself" in the presence of a LEO proves nothing except that you've been programmed. I try to be genuine. If I perceive that the LEO has a respectable reason to do what they are doing then I am all about complying. But if it's blatently obvious that they are on a power trip, or they are taking out frustration of a failing relationship (or whatever) by treating decent citizens disrespectfully.... then I'm not gonna be a phoney cuck and pretend that I'm cool with it, even though I was taught by my parents to do just that. I do have a mind of my own, and only accept programming that I personally feel is reasonable and proper. The tired old comment of "not being raised right" has been used too far out of context for a long time. The raising, if done right, should have instilled the ability and confidence to freely and honestly think, and to not be scared to behave in the way that you truly feel, in front of anybody. Nobody respects a person who is acting. Actors are players, like little robots.
  8. The rig lost some weight over the weekend, I stole the TM and 2 battery's out of it so I could get the new rig wet. Price of 4500.00 is good until Friday at noon. If not sold by then it looks like she'll be towed to Colorado.
  9. That cliche bugs the heck out of me. Thoughts and opinions are rampant in every country. They can control lots of things but they can't control a persons thoughts, regardless of where you live.
  10. I quit working on I/O's 21 years ago. Drunks are always in a I/O or Inboard. I don't know of a single BWI given to the captain of an outboard powered craft. Not even a pontoon. It's always the "pleasure boat" crowd.
  11. I get enough "kill switch" calls, I certainly don't need "won't start" calls because they just drank a beer.
  12. I've said that about parking lots, Airports, and malls. "If it saves ONE Life then it's worth it". Isn't that what everyone always says about stuff like that? It's time to allocate some of that tax money to illuminate the bluffs!
  13. Why (especially in 1997) would the Federal Government give 2 hoots about a license that is only valid in one state ? That would be like the fed demanding SSN to get a wrist band at a concert. Are things not complicated enough for them already? Federal requirement my butt! I don't believe that for a second. Unless the fed is owed taxes on the income MDC generated on the sale of those permits. Do they truly insist on tracking our every penny ? Yet they let it slide for 21 years ? Riiiight! 😄
  14. If ever you are driving and suddenly can't see what's in front of you.... STOP ! (Car, boat, lawn mower, or sled pulled by a team of husky's, it doesn't matter). No vision=No motion. Pretty simple rule that so many seem to just not agree with. How does a person live to be 50-60 years old and never learn this?
  15. That's my guess also. A '02 Bayliner fits the discription of a rental.
  16. The Flathead was displaced too and a tracking study was done. After a lengthy migration he ended up in my septic tank.
  17. I caught it near a weigh-in site and took it to a place where it would be happier. 😁

  19. Oh boy, here we go. 🙄 I'll make a deal with ya. You buy it, and if it isn't still running strong when that POS Merc 4-stroke of yours is in a scrap pile somewhere, I'll buy it back for the price you paid for it. 😊
  20. While I agree that it's not cool to move in on someone, don't you kinda expect it at a "community hole" like the Pothole? I do, and consider myself lucky if it doesn't happen when I fish areas like that. IMO if you really wanted to chill, get away from it all, and "eleviate stress from your job" then you couldn't have picked a worse place to do it. Basically you set yourself up to get mad at somebody. Congrats on your success. Monday will be here before you know it.
  21. When it goes off everyone will think it's the "Time to fish" horn. Boy will they be surprised!
  22. If someone doesn't jump on it pretty quick I'm gonna steal the TM and batteries out of it.. .then you can have it for 4500 😊
  23. I have fished out of this rig for 3 years, it's a well built and very well maintained boat. I found another sled so it's up for sale. Everything is fresh (even the fuel). 5k
  24. I haven't been out at all, the fish are truly getting a break from me so far this year. Enjoy your popcorn, I hope you get a kernal stuck on your larynx and start barking like a seal.
  25. There will likely be water trapped in it, so when the water starts running out you've gone far enough. You're not going to drill through the housing without knowing it...so no worry's. Just be careful not to wallow around in there or you might break the drill bit off in the cavity. All you are likely extracting is soft waterlogged wood/plant debris. Although I have had some that were clogged with sand, so if it feels gritty and like you are drilling into rock or glass then reverse the drill and back out of there. If it's sand then you have to try high pressure air from the other direction, and there's a 50/50 chance that it's clogged for good.
