  1. Was anyone cited for trespassing ? If not then you were legal....and the deputies were just keeping the cranky landowner in their side of the ballot box, by ushering you downstream. That's the way I would interpret it
  2. Thanks Dutch, we'll give them a call. Thank you too Rick, it's good to be back..... t'was a long Winter.
  3. The spiral "whalen" wrapped rods were a short lived rage here at LO in the early 90's. Pulling one out of a rodbox is a character building experience.
  4. Where could a person buy a rear hub for a tandem axle Nitro trailer (hub/brake rotor assembly) ? Thx, Wrench
  5. At least there are a FEW people on the planet that understand why I refuse to diagnose ignition problems and/or pull flywheels over the water.
  6. Does LP not have a Stream Team assigned to it ? If not it sounds like it could use one. Let the ol'gal run off a Stream Team group and maybe someone with a badge will set her straight. Afterwards maybe she'd like to join.
  7. K, Carry on
  8. What's this ? The shad are just now starting to get dizzy here. Sounds like the Winter Smallie Guru could use a L.O. guru..... Maybe we could work sumthin' out
  9. Fish are being caught, and some "units" at that. Everyone I've talked to that has spent a day on the water lately has had at least one fish over 4 lbs. A good bite on heavy jigs are what I'm hearing about most, bites are in 12-18ft. Crappie are still doing good and a jerkbait bite is starting to develop on them. Ice may or may not be an issue above the Coffman area tomorrow, hard to say. Today it is clear to the mouth of Mill and possibly Indian, but Soap is locked in pretty good.
  10. Hu uh, Flyfishing is an investment in your spirit. BOATS is where you're money goes to die.
  11. It's hard to tell sometimes (if it's on a hoist) unless you can get your head down there and inspect it real good. Mercs and Yammi's tend to bust the bearing carrier retainer and shove the propshaft backwards when they freeze, so the first thing you notice by looking closely at it is a gap between the prop and the housing. Johnson/Evinrudes tend to split out the side of the housing (mid-bullet)when they freeze. Loose fishing line (especially braid) is the biggest causes of seal failure, it gets wrapped around the propshaft and cuts into the propshaft seal. And there's tons of mono and braid drifting around out there.
  12. Billfo, I get alot of requests to change gear lube over the water but I simply will not do it. I know that it is an inconvienience but I recommend hauling it out on a trailer over dry land to drain the gearcase. It is near impossible to avoid loosing some into the water when attempting to do it while the boat is up on a hoist, and one tablespoon of 90W gear lube will make an oil slick as big as your living room. The fines for that, should you get caught, are hefty. Another note: You should always change your gear lube in the Fall before freezing weather hits so that if there's any water in your gearcase you can deal with it before it freezes and busts the housing.
  13. How do you know what you need.... before you need it ?
  14. What's the hairyest task anyone has completed using only their multi-tool ? I installed a screen door with mine once. R&R and Overhauled a garbage disposal. Swapped out a set of trailer lights (harness and all). Lots of ABU Garcia Ambassador 5000 and 4600C overhauls... I can field strip a 4600C quicker than a jackrabbit on a date with my leatherman The can opener on that leatherman Rocks !
  15. HA !!! If I wasn't behaving myself on OAF right now I could have a field day with that one.
  16. I've seen career criminals do some really good things before too. That's the difference between a "career criminal" and just a plain ol'criminal.
  17. A lady up the road from me was always bragging at church about how many Crappie she was catching ("spent 3 hours everyday this week cleaning fish", ect. ect.). So one of the other church members hotlined her. A MDC agent backed-up with a deputy sheriff stormed her house and learned one of two things.. 1. Fisher-women tend to exagerrate too. or 2. it takes her 6 hours to fillet one crappie. She had one bowl soaking in the fridge with 6 fillets in it. And as a side note: I hear the piano at the church needs dusting.
  18. You forgot... ... "and just dump all the currently housed trout stock into the rivers and call it a day. If they make it and start reproducing... GREAT, if not... Too bad !"
  19. As far as "brand" I'd lean toward Leatherman. I had a Gerber that was a POS, and I have a Buck that has gotten pretty loose/pretty quick. My original Leatherman (bought back in the early 90's) has lived a hard life and is still tight and basically good as new.
  20. Are you gonna post a link to this tap-dancing frog, or do I have to go looking for it myself ?
  21. Supposedly. But the term "federal offense" has a bark much worse than its bite, most generally. Every case that I've known of that was called a "federal crime" my first thought was "Oh S#!t this dude is going DOWN"... But then I always see them several months later driving a new truck and living the good life. So it must not be as big of a deal as it sounds. We've been conditioned to loose our breath for a moment when we hear the word "federal".
  22. They probably have reason to think that he shot a hawk or an eagle. That charge will get dropped.
  23. How do you get a "warning" for "doe deer prohibited" when you don't even have a hunting license ? I love the way they purposely stack bogus additional charges on top of valid ones to give lawyers room to negotiate. Such a game. In the end he'll plead guilty to 2 counts, loose his guns and all his money, do 90 days and get some probation. The charges on the woman will be dropped as soon as she writes a statement, whether it aids the prosecution or not. And all the deer meat will get tossed in a dumpster. Why not just charge him with 2 counts to begin with, and eliminate tying the courts up for 2 years ?
  24. That's cool, I'm glad that one of them I have is one of yours, Al. It is definately my favorite, because the image actually tells a story. I'm assuming that the truck is a 1937 hatchery truck ? Did they really used to use milk cans to transport the fish, or is that just a carryover from the old stalled-train legend that's been told for ages ? Phil, can you post pics of those stamps sometime ?
  25. I tried googling up an archive of all the trout stamps issued by MDC over the years, but I struck out. I have a few, and thought if any of you guys had kept them we might be able to fill in some gaps. Here's the only ones I have managed to hang onto... 87 88 94
