We definately do. Problem is few of us can afford to prove it. The old "innocent until proven guilty" cliche, in regards to the law and justice system, is a fable. When actually faced with an incriminating issue first hand you'll get a big spoonful of reality that can be pretty hard to swallow.

It didn't look like a tire had passed over it in a long long time. According to the topo map it leads to a really cool looking spot on the river. The boys at Bird island could tell you all about it. I tried to warm up to a dude at Blue Spring once but he wasn't very chatty. For being reasoably close to Lake O and everything, that area is remote as hell and those folks live by their own rules. Kinda cool really, but I always get the feeling that I could "come up missing" real easy jackin' around out there. The old school teacher gal that ran the market up by Tunas used to tell some pretty freaky tales.

Instead of taking the left at Berry bluff go straight and take the next right to Bird island (there should be a sign on the tree). Stop at the trailer and someone will come out to take your 3.00 and tell you where to park. Below Tunnel you can access at the Edith low water bridge off rt.E

It's funny because they call themselves the "lake preservation group", a group spearheaded mostly by bank presidents and newspaper owners and journalists, and their mission statement clearly says that they are "committed to Preserving the REPUTATION of the lake". Not a single word in the mission statement about preserving water quality. Real Funny hu ? But for some reason not many are laughing.

What we need to do is fight it the way the politicians do. Get a landowner who is in the clique to press the charges....then intentionally loose the case. Once a victory is on the books and recorded as such then similar suits will, by statute, have to follow the new order.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Pulling your vehicle directly off the side of the road, and leaving it there temporarily to walk or ride a bicycle down the road, for whatever reason, is not considered trespassing (or infringing on private property) in any Missouri county that I am aware of.

The Sheriff probably won't give you a satisfactory answer, the one who determines whether or not the county believes you comitted a crime is the county's Prosecutor. And from what I've noticed in these cases if the prosecutor is 50 or older and likes to fish, you have a decent chance. BUt if he is a young fella that likes golf...you're screwed. I wish just once someone could beat one of these cases and get it on the records.

Here's the thing: It's quite possible that you were within your rights to be there, but it will cost you a buttload in attorney fees to prove it, if you ever have to. I attempted to challenge a trespassing charge once and I felt very confident about my position, as did the attorney I spoke with, and even the duputy that served me the summons. But at the time a 75.00 fine was alot easier to pay than a 1500.00 to 3000.00 lawyer bill. I wish I would have had the cash to have fought it because I'd love to be fishing there right now.

Obviously. A lot of folks, yourself included I think, are confusing the dam-cam feed with surveillance. IMO it's not. Not really. For one thing, the streaming webcam at the dam isn't MDC's, it is supposably DNR's. At least someone from DNR said it was, but at the same time they also said that the other cams were not thiers. Secondly, Nobody wants to claim the other numerous actual surveillance cams that are set up in the park and campground. WHY ? because they know alot of folks take offense to it, and they are probably hearing about it. So Now, DNR has shut the dam-cam feed, apparently in an attempt to calm the negative feedback they are getting about park surveillance. Nice try. But here's the kicker....If THEY aren't the ones doing the surveillance (remember they originally said the other cams weren't theirs and they had no part of that), then WHY should they shut down the streaming webcam feed ? See? this is some twisted BS
