  1. It was January, on a buzzbait......So NO, definately not Missouri. A 10 from LO is awesome, you've kicked my butt in my own back yard
  2. Just curious, How would that help ?
  3. There are a couple guys I know of that run traplines on the Niangua. They don't get many (if any at all) otters, mostly coons. The ones in the park are cool to have around IMO.
  4. Not really, unless you got some over 12.8 Look, I complimented your fish Dude, they are great. And the fact that the one (biggest) cat was caught on R&R you got me beat there. YOU DA'MAN ! BTW, you were the one that got all cocky about it, not Me. I just gave you grief for eating Smallies because that's the way I roll And I'm not going to apologize for it, nor am I going to enter into a pic contest with you in front of everyone here because it would make me look petty and bigheaded. Besides, I'd be up scanning old kodak photo's and tournament results all nite, which is something I actually need to do someday but it isn't worth it to me at the moment. Believe it or not I've been at this WAY before digital cameras, the internet, and "the movie.
  5. Right on ! That's cool that they are finally turning out decent fly rods for small hands, I had to custom build one for my daughter when she was 8, which was really cool and all, but it was a lot of work for something she was going to grow out of after 2 seasons. I went through 3 cork grips before I got one turned down right without breaking it. You'll really enjoy the "wading boot ordeal" as time goes on
  6. why Hamilton, are you suggesting that you have someone pegged ? Those are nice pics. I'd post a few but Ham might get the wrong impression of me. Just giving you a bit of grief...for sport.
  7. Nice ! I thought we were talkin' Smallmouth Bass though. I'll give it to ya anyway since that cat on the bottom beats anything I've ever caught....on rod&reel that is.....but not by much. Was that a rod catch ? cuz it looks like either trotline, juggin' (or snagging) paraphernalia in that bucket, and not a rod in sight And whaddaya know....pics without a stringer. Thought you said "I usually use a stringer when taking fish pics".
  8. http://www.lakesunleader.com/news/x1465811...nto-Osage-River Bon Apetite
  9. Aww c'mon now, don't boycott Bennett. Times like these are when those finely tuned skills you've spent years perfecting come into play. I assure you there are still plenty of fish in there.
  10. Thanks, I have a pair of StC Avid's that are my main stream/river rods. Just looking for a decent feeling 2pc. ML in the 50-60 dollar range. I like the handle and guides on the tactix, but nobody seems to know anything about them. I may just order one, try it, and then auction it off on ebay if I don't like it. I've looked into building one myself, but I can't buy the components I like for what most finished rods sell for...much less the time it takes to put it all together.
  11. Yeah that's another "issue" I have with them, when you put tension on it and the fly can't spin (like when you're hung up...or have a big fish on) it will put about 50 twists in your tippet, the harder you pull the more it spins...and that bugs me. Twisted mono or flouro is gonna loose alot of strength, no? If it wassn't for that little glitch I'd use them way more, cuz they do roll over better than anything else I've used. When bass bugging with furled leaders I can look at a spot and lay the bug right on it (or close enough), with regular leaders you shoot and pray.
  12. According to Weavers report they are only going to stock 12 inchers this year, at a rate of 2 per estimated tag sold. And stocking for all the other trout management areas will be cut WAY back I'm sure. It would be a good idea to release decent sized fish and only keep the 12inchers if someone wants a few for dinner. Just thinking that those few extra bites aren't worth it during times like this.
  13. The Berkley Tactix rods seem to fall (pricewise) in between the LR's and the Series Ones but nobody near me has any of them on the racks, so I haven't had a chance to handle one. The pics online look pretty decent and I'm thinking about ordering the 6'6"ML-2 for a beater Smallie rod to keep behind the seat of my truck..... How do they stack up ? LR's are a great rod for the $$$....always have been, but darn if they don't get uglier every year. Wish I'd have bought a truckload of the old ones (back in the day)
  14. I don't mean to imply that the leaders come untwisted. What i am talking about is the way the leaders are designed when tension is applied to them they "spin". Just grab one in your hands and stretch it a little, you'll see what I mean. It is enough to cause clousers or heavily weighted flys to spin around every time you give it a strip. Drives me crazy and I can't live with it, but I do like the way they turn a bass bug or bushy dryfly over.
  15. I love the way they turn over, but their use for me is only for floating bass bugs. The reason is: if you have weight on the leader, or a heavily weighted fly, when you put tension on the leader it begins to untwist and spin the fly during the retrieve or drift. I first noticed this on clouser minnows and at first I thought I was tying my clousers wrong. But if you grab the leader and pull on it you'll notice how it untwists as you pull. I don't want my fly spinning through the water. They do turn over bass bugs like nothing else though, so I still use one if I know I'm going to be fishing poppers or hair bugs all day.
  16. Pretty Bows ! a "slacker" Psyco I presume ?
  17. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=280291802999 What's next, the Limited Edition Obama series 870 Remington ? Too much !
  18. Wader, you ever fish Saline cr. ? It's small but I think Capital city Flyfishers are the Stream Team for it and I believe they have done some in-stream habitat improvement work. Just wondering how it fishes.
  19. Do a whip finish behind the bead before tying the yarn in.
  20. It's a killer alright. I never did well with the original Summer Brown C&C, but other earthy tones in the green spectrum have paid off before.
  21. Sweet ! That perch colored Pointer looks like it was born and raised in that water....good choice.
  22. Take a stroll through the hatchery and see what they got while you're there. Also look to see if the stock truck is dripping or has a wet spot under it.
  23. Shimano owners from riversmallies.com have been complaining about the "Shimbindo" binding up issues for years. I can't believe they haven't corrected that yet, that's crazy ! Listening to them constantly cuss them has kept me from buying any of the upper tier Shimano reels. It seems the cheapies are immune to it however, so it is probably a "too close tolerance" thing related to shims and bushings. I hear tell if you dunk them or get caught in a decent rain, you are done for the day. They sure look and feel nice in the stores, but with reviews like that repeatedly surfacing I'm not gonna take a chance on them.
  24. Needless to say ? Those were pretty nice....but if you have pics of any "giants" , Please share. How's that No cull rule go? Once added to your creel (stringer, livewell, ect.) it is counted in your daily limit, right ? Or is that just for Summertime Bass fishing ? So....your stringer lives in your....Camera bag ? Just Razzin'
  25. Any lack of fish you notice now is temporary I'm sure. The hatchery is probably just recovering from the heavy opening day stocking. Actually I prefer a few less fish in the stream than is typical, it is kind of rediculis when there are balls of trout EVERYWHERE and they flock at your feet. Even my young daughter gets bored when the fish are overly plentiful, and all the same size.
