  1. Last I heard the SJ was sucking pretty bad. Is that old news now?
  2. It is to the point now that the C&R from tournaments is way harder on the fish population than Catch & Eat would be. Not that many people like eating LM Bass but EVERYBODY loves to catch them and haul them around in a livewell for awhile. Hell even guys that aren't in a tournament will haul them around just so they can take pictures later. Bass are the only critter we have that is legal and "ok" to just capture and hold onto for a day just for fun. I've done it plenty myself, but I don't do it anymore. It's stupid and it needs to stop.
  3. Yes sir. I have customers that only use their boat once or twice per year, yet they are among my most frequent customers. A boat doesn't like to set unused and there is always something wrong with it when they come down. They'd be way better off renting a boat. WAY better On the other hand I have the dock builders that beat the crap out of their boats and use them every day. I seldom see those guys. Just once or twice a year for maintenance stuff or the rare minor failure. You hear guys talk about certain motors and they'll say "That SOB never ran good and was in the shop more than it was out fishing".... that is probably because they didn't go often enough to justify owning a boat in the first place.
  4. Ahh, gotcha. I had never even seen Fellows, but after hearing all the hub-bub about it I checked it out last year. Have you ever walked into a store and had the owners stalk you like they thought you were trying to steal something? That's the way I felt at Fellows lake. I'd have to live real close and wanna fish REALLY bad. Not my kinda place at all
  5. Yeah but I doubt that they ran them to the backends. Prolly dumped them at the mouth. They'll all end up on Snake Island for awhile.
  6. If you have 10k invested in a boat that is 2,137 days on the water to match that rate. That's 6 years of fishing every single day. 22 years if you only fish weekends. Double or triple that if you don't keep the same boat that long. Crazy hu?
  7. Maybe they ran a few across to Buck cr. They didn't go far, that's for sure. I'd say they got dumped between Alhonna and the Shawnee bend ramp.
  8. Really? If you own boat(s), take the amount you have invested (cost, maintenance, licensing, taxes, batteries, fuel, oil, insurance, repairs, ect.) and divide by the number of days that you have used it. Don't forget trailer maintenance/repairs. What's that come out to?
  9. 18+ years to get there. Time flys when you're having fun.
  10. Not one of my favorite stretches. There are only 2 truly good holes between there and both get visited by jackass giggers every year.
  11. Any place that is an Outboard Jets dealer will work you a trade. I'm looking into becoming a dealer and service specialist for Outboard Jets. They produce a fine product out back.....but I must say that the office folks are nuttier than a squirrel turd. Cali-culture is a real thing.
  12. Controls, cables, and harness....about 750.00
  13. If you'll give some of them a ride back up to the upper Gravois I'll give you some gas money.
  14. Quit telling that story, it jack's me up. My folks were both in the nursing home business so I grew up spending time with old dudes that loved to tell fishing story's. They'd always end the storys with "yeah I can't do those things anymore" and the sadness in their eyes always made me bite my lip to keep from tearing up. If the time comes that I can't fish anymore I'll write a book. After that I'll be ready for my dirt nap.
  15. We saw some fish so they were there, one was even a real nice Brown over 16" prowling the Sand Spring riffle, just couldn't get a single one to chase a streamer, sip a nymph, gobble a dry, or even eat a stupid Y2K bug.
  16. Yeah! Whatever kind of tequila that was, it is way too smooth for safe consumption.
  17. Tube is in THE HOUSE !!!
  18. Awesome. That's a really good deal, I wish I had a boat to hang that one on. Somebody had better snatch that up before I find one. 😀 I do have a set of controls if it doesn't come with them already.
  19. Do you know if it has ever been in Saltwater ?
  20. Lesson learned: Never be disrespectful to a bartender, they have ways of getting even. Halfway through a fish bowl sized margarita I realized that I was way drunker than I should have been. Come to find out the only thing that made it a "margarita" instead of a giant glass of straight tequila.....was a little squirt of lime juice and some salt.
  21. The Little G has been fishing poorly all year. Every keeper that gets caught there gets hauled to Coffman. No sizable tournaments ever happen at Gravois so we never get any new recruits. Any signs of White bass on the flats? I've been river fishing and haven't been out on the lake (with a rod) in awhile.
  22. 75.00 for a full day? What's wrong with that?
  23. I had an extremely good time. Mrs. Billethead caught a few on drys, and that turned out to be the climax of our upper river fishing efforts. I took a boat but never got it wet, there was just too much other stuff going on and we were enjoying the party. The Billethead's whipped up some of their famous goose fajitas Friday night and pretty much changed my life. I had the leftovers for my dinner tonite and they were just as good the second time around. Delicious stuff! The kid and I hit the park for a quickie Saturday evening after getting skunked on the stretch from Sand Springs to the lower access (I'm blaming that on Spiderman underwear). We caught several in the park and at least got some slime on our hands. Sunday we went for the full grand slam in the park. My daughter completed all but the dry fly part, she needed 2 more but ran out of time. I completed all of mine in one 40' stretch of the high bank hole 😎 My dry fly fish all ate a fly that BH turned me onto. Not because it's a good fly....it was just because I was wearing the right underwear. The Home Waters & F3T shindig was a super good time in spite of being partially rained out. Some really good deals were made and I got to see some guys that I hadn't talked to in ages. Met several other really cool guys.... and one batshit crazy one. I really wanted to stay at least one more day after the crowd cleared, but the calls and messages from the Big Bass Bash were piling up so I figured I'd better get back to the wrenches. Gotta make hay while the sun shines, right?
  24. Here is what the lower unit is worth
  25. So sell the lower unit and buy a jet pump. I'll install it for a 12-pack and a Subway sandwich.
