  1. I've never been able to say "Fish Sticks" without it sounding like Fish Dicks. So I don't eat them.
  2. I knew somebody was gonna say that.
  3. That's all yet another "gray area". Yes the book says you are supposed to, but find me a person that has been cited for not doing it.
  4. Increased RPM is caused either by advancing the ignition timing, or by opening the carb throttle valve(s). Nothing else can cause your engine to speed up. I haven't looked it up specifically on your 1998 50 (carb 4S) but I don't think it has an idle control valve. Again, you appear to be studying stuff relevant to EFI engines.
  5. I assumed it was a carb motor (not EFI) since you said you "pushed on the throttle rod for the carbs". There is no ECU on a carbureted motor. If it is a EFI motor equipped with an ECU then forget what I said above. It is likely some static in the TPS (throttle position sensor) which acts like a "volume knob" on a radio.
  6. It is not a vaccum leak. Since you were able to push the throttle cam back and get the RPM's back down it sounds like the throttle linkage is sticky or out of sync. Or....If someone "untrained" has messed with the linkage they may have not set the throttle stop properly and now you have a bent throttle shaft or damaged throttle plate.
  7. Every Winter my little gal says "We should do a garden this year". And I say "Yeah let's do it". I do have wild cherry tomatoes that pop up every year on their own, and about 6 blackberry thickets....but otherwise I still have never planted a veggie garden. There is a little farmers market up the road and their stuff is always delicious and CHEAP. Why do I feel the need to buy all the stuff and fuss over a dam garden? I'd rather just buy my veggies and not have to terrorize the rabbits.
  8. Hey, guys that build props and repair lower units need jobs too. Thanks for your contribution.
  9. Baggage ? I don't need no stinkin' baggage!
  10. What's the problem with the Jon/20 prop ? If it's too shallow to run (less than calf deep) just step out and walk the boat over the shoal. To hell with a kayak unless you have to portage over dry land !
  11. Oh man! Nice! I hit my pond today and it seemed too soon. Nothing moving shallow quite yet. Saw a lot of spiders but no other bugs flying around. Birds and other critters were scarce too. Kinda odd on such a beautiful day. Breeze from the East though, so.....
  12. No kidding. If you can sue for a limb falling on you then you should be able to sue for busting your butt on a slick rock, especially since they banned the use of felt boots.
  13. Size is more important than color, but Chart/White or Gray/White is hard to beat. Pink/White is great in murky water, as is Black/chart.
  14. Oh, I'm sure they don't just throw those eggs away!
  15. The stupidest part to me is the amount of money invested in them (I forgot the amount, but I read an annual report years ago and remember it being freaking crazy). All of this $ for a season that only lasts 5-6 weeks per year, and boosts nothing in a community aside from beer sales. Then they slap a length limit on the SNAGGED FISH so after a few good days you'll find dead spoonbill (and catfish) along the banks everywhere, that only coons, turtles and buzzards are allowed to touch. Then they go all crazy nazi about what you can/can't do with the eggs out of the stupid things. Yet the WP and MDC agents turn a blind eye to all the boating violations that go on during this time...ya know, like 6 fat boys, drunker than Cooter Brown, in a leaky 14' unregistered jon boat, with no pfd's, on a tailrace. Did I mention that they spend insane amounts of our money to maintain this "fishery"? Money that could be better spent protecting our native fish IMO.
  16. Really ? Well then, I'm suddenly all for it !
  17. Good to hear! I'm gonna go check my bluegill hole out tomorrow if I can get done working in time. The extra hour of daylight helps !
  18. Yeah, cuz you can just look up the number for Navy Seals on Google or the Yellow Pages, if you ever need one.
  19. For years we had a prosecutor in my county that would charge you with trespass for accessing creeks via county road bridges. But now we have a new prosecutor.... And he and his family like to FISH, so we are good to go NOW. Amazing how that works. And genuine proof that the system is broke.
  20. Yeah well, we were all working together in solidarity when we elected these people. Let's not forget that.
  21. Cool, it will be in interesting to see what their response is.
  22. It's a county by county thing. The only way to be sure you are not risking trespass charges is to contact the Boone co. Prosecutor (or a judge) and see how he feels. If he likes and/or respects fishing streams then you'll probably be good to go.
  23. When you get ahold of him/her ask them to explain to you exactly what this all means. Dollar says he/she doesn't know either.
  24. A floating bug doesn't have to "pop" for bluegills. Therefore it's hard to beat a simple little piece of craft foam with some rubber legs hanging off of it. Land it with a Splat! And give it a few twitches. If nothing bites it, go somewhere else or switch to a slow sinking *something* with rubber legs hanging off of it.
