  1. Could that have been the 54 bridge across the Osage river below the dam? No way there would have been dry ground under the Grand Glaze bridge I don't think.
  2. Right. But why not sell you a deer/turkey/might.bird tag at the regular resident rate? I mean why have stipulations over it.
  3. Well that's "kinda" reasonable.....but then kinda nit-picky at the same time. Typical really, just gotta complicate things slightly for no reason other than a few bucks.
  4. Don't cut crappie for bait in Mo. I think that's some kind of violation. At least check to be sure before you do because I'm not 100% sure that it's considered "legal".
  5. That's should serve as a sign that the manufacturers themselves don't trust the 200+ engines. A liability release of sorts.... "Ah yeah, these failures happen because customers are running sub-standard fuel". But it's ok for the 150's ? Puleeeeze!
  6. Yes....but this is Missouri, and if your "resident" status changes? ???? Oklahoma is a cool state like that... Mo. not so much
  7. A 15 year old has no idea where he/she is going to live for the rest of their life. If they move out of state, then come back to visit..... How does THAT work? Lifetime memberships are basically a BS proposition IMO. I bought lifetime memberships into both B.A.S.S. and NRA back when I was in my late teens-early 20's and I don't get $#it from either one anymore. No magazines...nothing, and haven't for years.
  8. Number 1: walking across that thing makes me short of breath. Number 2: There's only about 10" of water under it right now.
  9. I'm not entering this discussion AGAIN, but ...^^^, Exactly. You are not wrong at all.
  10. Yankee's come down here....but they won't teach us how.
  11. About the only mistake I see alot of people make when still-fishing is they set up on the bank or on a dock and hurl their bait out towards the middle of the lake. I believe you'll do alot better if you set up off to the side of where you think the fish are, whether you are fishing off the bank or from a boat, and cast more parallel to the bank. The best bait position is usually within 5-30ft. off the bank where wave action keeps the bottom structure swept clean of mucky silt. Everyone wants to use shad, myself included, but I'm beginning to think that cut bluegill are just as good if not better. So don't freak out and waste too much time when shad are hard to find....just go catch a few small gills from the backend of the nearest cove and get some bait in the water.
  12. Yep, it got me for a second too. I had to double check to see if it was oldplugs post
  13. Coves with a feeder creek, or long tapering points and/or bluff ends on the main lake are good places to start. I'll give a spot 15-20 minutes tops, if no bites I move. I honestly don't know of a single spot on this lake where you're NOT likely to catch cats. Just get some bait wet and move around until you start catching them, it won't take you very long.
  14. Crappie will likely be on the bank by April, at least on SOME banks. You'll love the catfishing here. We're fast on our way to becoming the catfish capital of the midwest. It's just that Awesome! You can drift for them if that's what you like to do, but the most consistent action tends to be still fishing, and slow-dragging points (similar to Carolina riggin' for bass).
  15. Stitch, they won't start allowing it to fill back up until mid-late April. Any big rains we get before then will just result in Ameren letting it right back out. Regardless you'll still be able to launch/load unless you're using a ramp in the very backend of a cove.
  16. Yeah even if you go 12v you're still gonna want/need 2 batterys (parallel) for a 12 hour day of serious fishing.
  17. Jerry, I think that's kinda like paying sales tax, yearly PP tax, and registration fees on a used outboard motor. I'd like to find out what the fine is for failing to do so.....but nobody has ever been fined for it. It'll cost ya 100.00 to fish without a permit. I know this because my daughter spaced hers off last year and got popped in March. Somehow that became MY fault, so I had to pay it. I've already reminded her this year though, so she's on her own if it happens again.
  18. I am experimenting with these "Pucking Products" for shoot-thru applications. I did one with the red stuff last July, and tried the "sports/outdoor" type on another one last October. So far both are still doing great. The green tube stuff sets up a little more flexible and might be a little more impervious to fuel or oil (only time will tell). The cool thing is that if it doesn't work then it's easy to clean-up and start over, unlike a big blob of hardened epoxy. I scuffed the transducer and inner-hull surface with coarse sandpaper, then cleaned with alcohol before sticking it down. No issues with air bubbles as long as you don't get pucking stingy with the Goop.
  19. I don't think you could launch there now if you wanted to. Its in the back end of the cove, right? Gonna be high and dry until May I bet.
  20. An alcohol wipe does a good job of "prepping" before adding the strips.
  21. Fried up my last bag of Fall whites last night. I'm officially on the wagon until the Spring run unless someone either invites me to dinner or I go catch some crappie or gills. There's always store bought salmon I guess.
  22. So is it still a tax exempt church thing? Just curious.
  23. Thank you! Are we just still doing this to keep Rubbermaid as an industry sponsor? Or what?
  24. I'm all for either Keep it and Eat it, or release it UNHARMED immediately. And although I'm probably gonna catch hell for saying this ..... If you put it in a livewell and transport it to the other end of the lake, then you should just go ahead and have a daππn fish fry ! Its 2014 for Dog sake ! There are other (Better) ways to have a fishing contest that don't include hauling fish around. If you're gonna release it then release it immediately. Lets progress a bit here, can we? How many Rubbermaid baskets of dry bass do you need to see in your lifetime? I've seen enough of them to last me awhile.
