  1. Yes vote! I like the little ones for goggle eye too.
  2. James river is pretty quiet, if we don't get any rain it will be low in July but so will all the other rivers. http://www.google.co...hAdgxmaJ9oT3hJw These guys are a pretty good rental outfit your cars will be in a locked campground at night so there is not a big chance of vandalism and they have showers and bathrooms for when you get done with your float which is pretty nice after a 2 day.
  3. That car was about half way up that hill for years caught in the trees, nice eye sore now and not really any way to get it out.
  4. you could do the james, Hootentown to Galena is 22mi with lots of good smallies. outfitter number http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=james%20river%20outfitters&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CG8QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.jamesriveroutfitters.com%2F&ei=TamxT8qPMIGC2wXi_oivAQ&usg=AFQjCNHvAAjU_9E7IK9hAdgxmaJ9oT3hJw
  5. not really, for a few days i was catching a limit or close to it but then the water came up and they just quit.
  6. yea they are done i have picked up a few stragglers but no more then one or two in a day.
  7. I have been fishing down around V highway and Galena area and been doing pretty good on anything crayfish and hula grubs. I haven't made it up to Hootentown yet though, I will probably make the Hootentown to galena float soon though before it gets to hot.
  8. its that time of year channels get pretty aggressive in the spring time, they will hit about anything
  9. i found one last year around crane island, was a fiber glass v bottom with a windshield it had a piece of tape on it that said if it floats its yours. so i floated it down to galena took it home and sold it for $125, i say if its still there next time you float you should do the same lol
  10. i did pretty good on 3 inch pumpkin green crayfish and hula grubs yesterday, and as for the fly rod i used it for a while when the wind died down, i did pretty good on big green wooly bugger's and and i got a new pb smallie (right at 21 inches) for a fly rod on an articulated streamer i made out of some big zonker strips and ice dubbing
  11. if you can find them shad entrails work really well the sell them frozen in jars, they have shad sides too but i have always done better on the entrails.
  12. I personally like to fish the lower James anything below Hooten Town access, The places i like to go are Wheeler Branch, H.L Kerr access and even the Y bridge in galena is pretty good Smallie water. Some lures I have with me 100% of the time I fish the James. Zara Spook Jr. frog color. Yamamoto hula grubs in dark colors and earth tones. and 3 inch Salt craws in pumpkin and green pumpkin.

  14. if you take a float from cox ford (with JRO i don't think the others have access to cox) just about a mile or two down is where crane creek dumps into the james, i have never fished it for trout down that far but i have picked up a few by mistake just a little ways up the creek
  15. if it happens again just let them keep on doing it but let them cast first then you throw a few feet behind them let that guys bait trigger the bite and then yours will be a little closer to the fish, works sometimes and its funny to see how aggravated a guy gets when he fishing 3 ft away from another guy who is catching all the fish.
  16. i think they are the same at trot lines gotta have your name on them and no more then 32 hooks in the water at one time
  17. I dont think so, table rock has a lot of good cats in it, i usually do pretty good around cane bottom ( walnut springs) and longs camp, last year my big ones were 63lb flat head and a 46lb blue. got them both just above walnut springs on big perch
  18. idk man the fishing has been strange this year, even if the spawn is over i usually catch them in late may-june on their way back to the lake, i will probably just start going after catfish now.
  19. i haven't been doing any good on whites lately in the past 10 days i have picked up 4-5 usually 1 a trip right at dark. i have been catching a few crappie and small mouth though.
  20. i got a nice flat head last night, about 10lbs or so really fat i looked like she was full of eggs so i put it back, and got 4 more 2-3lb channels for dinner all off 2-3 inch dead sucker minnows. hit them all at the corner just before the rock bank in Mccord bend.
  21. very cool. Added to my bucket list.
  22. buy some minnows hook them through the lips, great for bobbers.
  23. this time of year you could no problem but if you wait till later on in the summer there is a few places you would have to drag.
