  1. Party Crasher and Warden are good S-waver colors, I've seen a River2sea rep throw blue herring too. Caught some more TR black bass during this cold front/ snowstorm. Was using the s-waver 200 party crasher and the BBZ1Jr 6inch in lavender shad (floater and slow sink)
  2. the deepest was 20 ft next to a bluff bank. most of the time its less than 5ft under the surface. I did lose one s-waver to a log early on when I first started using them, but that's it.
  3. some are floaters, and some are slow sinks, I don't let them hit the bottom, don't need to. The draw power of these baits can pull fish from 20ft away in the clear water right now. I've got the single jointed River2sea S-waver 168 and 200 dialed in, if the water visibility is good and I wear my polarized sunglasses I can literally cast that thing at one end of a laydown and walk it side to side between limbs and around larger rocks. its an interesting bait once you understand how to use it
  4. I'm back and the swimbaits have been and are still working on the Rock.
  5. did someone forget about asking me?lol See "Weekend Report June 6-8" (upper bull shoals)," swimbaits on the rock" for my some of my referances.lol the Spro BBZ1 Jr (6" floating and slow sink) and the River2Sea S-Waver 168 (6 3/4") are great starter baits. don't waste your money on the BassProShop hardbaits, they swim like crap. buy from Tacklewarehouse.com, they have the best prices on baits and great customer service. generally slow and steady retrieves have worked great with these baits. Matt Allen with TacticalBassin just released a video showing what equipment he and his buddy use for the S-waver 168 and 200 and 4 different retrieves, great video on Youtube. Then Bill Seimental of BBZ has a huge collection of instructional videos on his Youtube channel as well. I use Berkley big game 15lbs mono for 7" and under, 20lbs for 7" and over , I started with Braid and mono leader but snapped off a couple of baits, so I went with straight mono and haven't lost a bait to a bad cast since. my "big bait"(8plus inch) outfit is a TFO magnum heavy 7'11" swimbait rod ( I can get one for $115), Calcutta 400 (5:2-1 ratio) and the 20lbs Big Game mono. this is the combo I landed my 50lbs 4oz. striper with, and many black bass up to 6.5lbs (still hunting for the bigger ones). My "smaller"(5-7inch) swimbait outfit is actually a 7'0" medium heavy UglyStick GX2, the one with the extra long butt. I'm currently using a Abu Garcia 5600sx round reel but I'm looking into a Lew BB2 wide, 5:4-1 ratio, spooled with the 15lbs Big Game. Both rods are much like crankbait rods in that they are parabolic and bend clear down to the first eye or past it. the purpose of that is so when your fighting the fish, regardless how hard it tries to shake the lure it always has pressure on it as along as your on top of the fish keeping the rod loaded up. I've been throwing these baits for a year now and have not gone home once sore from throwing them. proper casting technique is a must. if you would like any more info please feel free to Pm me.
  6. I threw the Spinbait90, in "fish jr." color, Sunday afternoon near Dewey Short, only spent 20 minutes throwing but caught 2 keeper smallies and missed a couple other hits. Threw along the ledges with a 10 countdown and the suggested steady retrieve. The pearl white 80 worked really good around Indian Point about a month ago, even landed my first meanmouth on it (17" about 2.25lbs or so).
  7. I'd use it for jerkbaits too. I know some jerkbaits have the weight transfer systems in them, but i cast them a little further especially with a long setup like that
  8. Tracy Frenzel of Frenzel Guide Service, he's working on my brother's 14lbs 8oz and soon my 50lbs striper replica. He also repainted Lilley landings 42lbs brown trout. 417 699 2277
  9. I knew my hand scale was 0.15lbs under at 4.5lbs and i added that to the 48.85 that read on scale for the striper to get 49.00. Dad and I just checked my scale with 49.3lbs of free weights, and the scale read 47.00. So my 48.85 striper, with a 1.3 lbs correction, puts it at 50.10, got love technology...
  10. 20Lbs Berkley big game mono, clear
  11. If you try a floating BBZ1 6 inch, i bet you'd get bit... i do
  12. Ron, change the hooks out, the hooks on those baits are crap, get some 1/0 owners, mustads, gamakatsu, whatever you may prefer and be sure to get the 2x strong so they don't bend them out when hooked up
  13. Caught it about 730 and they shut the generator off around 8. So i got lucky, going there while it was still running water.
  14. Thanks powerdive, i try to keep the cost of the big stuff "manageable", as in 35 dollars per lure is kind of a cut-off point for me. Trust me, the cost of some baits are outrageous, go scan the "hard baits" in the swimbait section of Tacklewarehouse.com. the Roman~Made stuff goes up over 400 per lure. After seeing how well the big stuff works here, I'm hooked.lol
  15. I had heard about Stripers in June at the pothole, but was never fortunate or equipped to catch one. Well that changed late last year when i started fishing Swimbaits. And not the cheap storm stuff, although they catch fish too. I'm talking about Spro BBZ1 line of baits, River2Sea S-waver 168 (6 3/4" long), 6 and 8" Strike King "king kong", and my buddy's custom 10.5" lures. Plus learning which one to throw when, where, and how to present them... Well here's the result... This 49.0lbs beast, measuring 47 inches long and 31.25 inch girth, was taken on the first cast Friday afternoon. It half inhaled a Spro BBZ1 8" in a Rainbow Trout color, thrown with a custom KGB Swimbaits spec 7'11" heavy-extra heavy swimbait rod and Shimano Calcutta 400 spooled with 20lbs Berkeley Big Game Clear. The fight took less than 15 minutes and fellow angler let jump on the bow of his boat shortly before his son assisted with getting the fish on board. I did keep it, some may look down upon that, and i didn't let it waste as i properly filleted it. I took plenty of pictures and will have a mount made, but the overwelming feeling of landing this giant fish i just had to show it off to some family and friends. If i get the pleasant experience of catching another one, I'll be sure to snap some pictures, weigh it and release back to the water. Oh and i got this decent 5.25 lbs walleye on Saturday on the same BBZ1 and a 6.5 lbs largemouth on a large 6" jointed rapala
  16. Caught a short 17ish today at the end of the wall on a black/orange rapala. But that was the only walleye. Caught a 6.5 lbs largemouth up there today too
  17. That was at the pothole btw
  18. Here's a 5.25lbs one i caught today about noon, on the BBZ1 8" at the pothole. I do have to agree that it has been tough getting a walleye this year. That's my first one this year
  19. As clear as the water is...they're clearly bass
  20. I put his full name there so you can find him on Facebook, tell him Richy sent you if you add him
  21. Yeah, most people think i caught a fish, then i cast it back in the water.lol its about 4 to 5oz. My buddy Kevin Brightwell makes and paints them. This is a prototype batch of these glides. I'm hoping to get one of Bull Shoals elusive stripers on it here soon. Here's a couple of his other baits. He can paint them what ever color
  22. I got hooked on fishing the Oakley Big Bass after fishing 1 day of the Table Rock event, so I'll be fishing the Grand Lake event. My buddy whose going with me has fished there before, so hoping for another good outcome (i won the Saturday 9am hour on TRL)
  23. I fished the gaint 10.5" gizzard shad Glide again today around the Dam Area. Again countless follows by kentucky's, even a 9 member wolf pack all 16-17 inches long following the big bait to the shore. Fished it around Poverty point and had a 4-5lbs green fatty literally flipped over the bait, reminded me of the Great white sharks on Discovery knocking the seal decoy out of the water. Mostly their just slapping that big bait and 6inch baits, tried smaller baits and wouldn't get a sniff. The Kentucky are around, they clearly show their curiosity with this bait
  24. I'm still throwing the swimbaits on Table Rock. Say i get 10 followers in 10 casts, out of that 10, 9 have been Kentucky's. Some have slapped the bait and sometimes a wolf-pack of 3 or 4 will follow it. They dont seem so aggressive as the smallies or LM's. They are there, we just need to change something in our techniques, color, shape, size.
