Psss... Bill, Brandon used a swimbait too.lol For anybody who didn't see the picture from day 2, Brandon was tossing a Roman-Made Negotiator (80 bucks on TW) in a silver shad color. Not confirmed but I believe the 5-3 that won he the Carhart Big Bass Bonus was caught with the Negotiator
Holy crap was that a hard day of fishing. The club tournament as a whole struggled to bring in keeper size bass (lm and spots). Some were caught on A-rigs(flash mob with white baits), brown or green pumkin jig and craw, and reddish or red belly crankbaits (wart, rapala dt10). Water temp anywhere from 46-53. Found most fish on channel swing bluffs either on the lake or back in the creeks...
Hopefully the warming weather will get the big girls stirring soon
The shad kill is thinning out around the Dam area, went monday and only saw 3, when 2 weeks ago i wouldhave seen 30-40. Caught some keeper LM on jig and craw and saw several keeper size fish staging in spawning areas
Cool, see ya then.
I got a couple of bass early, the biggest stretched over 16inch. I was throwing a crankbait and i saw so guys throwing a-rigs with no luck. After the bite died after 830 i just went exploring the section down from the 65 bridge. Saw some guys in a pond prowler catching some dink LM off the bluff before the park on the north side.
I'll be at lake Springfield tomorrow with my kayak, since OMTC rescheduled their fishing tournament to next Saturday i thought I'd still come up there for some fishing practice and see what the fish are biting on.
Almost all my winter bass this year were taken with a 6" Strike King King Kong in Gizzard Shad color from late october into the middle of January when the minus zero weather hit and really knocked down the water temp. But the lowest watet temp i caught them in was roughly 39-41. I also had some on the BBZ1 jr. (Floater and Slow Sink) And River2Sea S-waver 168 (Slow Sink) in a gizzard shad color also, most of those fish were in less than 15 fow.
The shad kill hasn't helped anything but the A-rig bite. I can't wait for that to be over with
Read the latest post on the Powersite Tailwater thread, they caught a bunch on the river run side Thursday evening and friday morning while they were generating.
I was down at river run yesterday, the boat ramp was half covered but it should all melt today. The road leading to the dam was still well covered but broken up some by traffic.
I've seen them down at the trophy area on Taneycomo too. My brother was down there one day last year and called me about them. I went the next day and sure enough, there was a freakin pelican near the cable on the Dewey Short side.lol
I went out this afternoon, no water running @ the dam. Caught 3 short LM bass, 1 on an A-rig (flash mob with small Indiana blades and 3in black/silver curl tail minnows) and the other 2 on a 1/16oz. Road runner with a Colorado blade and Gulp! minnow. Tried the flicker shad, rc stick, and couple other baits with no hits and no walleye for me...yet
