  1. I would look at the Yellowstone anglers 2013 shootout , just google it. They did a good job on wader comparisons.
  2. Thanks Bfishn for the link.. That was a good read..Good thing they did not have to take on some Osage...they would have been done.
  3. I don't believe there will be much of an impact. Although iI'm no expert Peck seems to have plenty of food and area for the small herd that are there. It has been a while since I've been there. The birds will be fine. All is well, remain calm.
  4. If fishing in the Mississippi I catch some skip jack.... From a wing dike and use the for catfish. It does the trick
  5. Thanks for the info XP. I have several different multi colored power baits.
  6. Thanks Nortrad. I'm not looking for a specific spot/honey hole just was asking what the preference was if someone had the option of doing one vs. the other.
  7. Vat or Tan Vat to Baptist camp, which would you choose. I usually fish all but don't do the full walk. I'll be going down on Friday night and coming back on Monday. If any one is going to be there and needs a shuttle as I, I'll do the same. If not we'll see if we can find someone there. this being said I've not looked at water levels but think they'll be got by Sat.
  8. Nice pictures. How was the river traffic with others out? Looking to get out later in the week.
  9. Decided to give the job search a rest and go fishing. I decided on meramec springs for a one day fish and return. I would have like to hit Montauk, but makes for a long day/drive. The spring was off colored and running higher than the two previous times there last year. I started fishing around 9 with the fly rod. I was one of two with this method. After having fished with no luck for the first couple of holes and having the fisherman on the opposite bank screaming at his kids, I decided to make my way to the outside of the park. I crossed at the campground and fished the river facing the spring. I started stripping a #8 black wooly and it was on after landing a half dozen or so and all good size I switched over to a peach/pretty lady egg. I fished it under a indicator at 7ft. That was the ticket for the remainder of the day. Ended the day with two dozen more. Three of the fish were 18" and fat, wished I could of seen what was in their bellys. Of the two dozen I would say if in the park they would have all been keeps and good sized ones at that. On a side note 44 both east and west was stacked with troopers and local law. On two separate occasions they has people handcuffed.
  10. Going to the show on Tuesday at the Tivoli in St. Louis. the last one last year was a good time.
  11. thanks Tim.
  12. And just curious how the fishing has been if anyone has been out. Thanks
  13. http://www.theflyfishingforum.com/forums/general-discussion/296716-allen-alpha-2-vs-lamson-konic.html .... For some reason it won't go to a link. I follow The Fly Fishing Forum and there was a long thread about the two. Search forum for Allen trout reel. Hopefully this helps sorry I could not get it as a link....
  14. I did see the guys fishing in the park...only one guy who was fly fishing just above the bridge .....as we walked down to the outside of the park...didn't say anything...just laughted. I thought he might have special privileges. I figured after getting the ticket. the last thing I needed was to get into an argument. Sorry I missed the beer, but I brought the flask. We started fishing just above the spring and eventually crossed so we could fish on the nice gravel bar below the spring entrance to the river.
  15. I fished outside the park on Sunday and it was windy. I believe I saw you and the drift boat fishing at the spring. Ended up landing 6, 4 rainbows and 2 browns, oh and 2 chubs. Drifting a MH leech under indicator at about 7 feet. The jet boat came and went throughout the day, but when they came up, they'd get right on top of my I indicator and I'd move. It did suck as on my way down from StL I got a speeding ticket in Crawford county by MHP. I guess it was a caused by a good dose of coffee, slow big rigs, Steve Earle and stupidity. All in all it was a good day.
  16. I wish the moss was cleared out of the Capps creek mp. Has anyone caught a good sized trout out of it? I use to flsh a bit up stream from it, but I believe they've built some houses up on the bluff.
  17. Good to see was there two weeks ago and it was low, fished one day in and one day out of the park, gin clear and low but fish were stacked in places and the fishing was good, the biggest was a brown out of park at 18", fish in park were mostly small. Somwill it be low again by Saturday?
  18. I have not used one but did see an orvis helios ZG 7'4wt 4 piece on another site going for 450 obo, so you would expect it to be nice for that price. I do not know what the ZG implies vs. not one
  19. Slow or not need to get out of StL for a few as I lost my job last week and the air and fly casting will do me good.
  20. Going down this weekend.
  21. Caught a few at Jefferson. Stripping a wooly. It looked like they were going after the large schools of minnows. Brought in one LMB. it was crowded but was a nice day to be out.
  22. I ll be somewhere on Sunday in St. Louis with my better half who just finished up her 4 week fly tying class at Hargroves. I don't even tie my own. I now have more flies than ever and need to get a few more boxes:) !in the last year she's been going with me. She enjoys it and even continued fishes after getting dry after taking a full dip in waders at baptist a few months ago.
  23. So we can fish these lakes and they are just catch and release right?
  24. Just curious as to what type of vehicle said person drives. About a month or so ago after fishing outside of the park my buddy and I ended the day fishing in the park for the last hour or so. We went from the fly only area to the pool by the cemetery. as we were rapping up a guy pulled over and asked us if we wanted a 10 lb trout to tell our buddies we had caught it, we declined. He said he had already caught a 10 lber that day.
  25. I usually fish out of the park on the Current, but this past weekend I decided to stop and check out Lane Springs as I always pass it on the way back home on 63. I thought it was a nice looking place and campground, but have never fished it. I wallked to the creek right above where LaneSpring enters. I've noticed that Twin Springs is above the camp ground and have a couple of questions for anyone that has or does fish it. Are there trout from the campground on down? Don't have to get specifi, but how far would you suggest to fish down from Lane if wading? What tpe of flies would u suggest? I think I might camp for a few nights and hit Mill Creek to switch it up for a morning or afternoon. I hope we get some rain so the no bun is lifted. Can't think of sitting at a campground by myself and having a few beers I the dark.
