  1. I will agree that stockton has for the most part bigger crappie as I used to fish there solely but have since bought a weekend lake home on pomme and do all my fishing there now. I understand your comment about the size of crappie on pomme but it is not always that way. ever since the water got back down close to normal the crappie bite has picked up considerably. the only problem is they are all in the 8 inch class. for the last month we have caught a boat load of crappie but only catch maybe 5 keepers. the funny thing is all the little ones are black crappie and the keepers will be whites. the keepers are hiding out somewhere but I have yet to find them but they will be back. the nice thing is that the future looks excellent for keeper blacks next year.
  2. brad will post the results soon im sure. i fished it and there were 18 boats but apparently I didnt read the flyer close enough to see that the weigh in had been changed from 2pm to 1 pm so we missed the weigh in which probably didnt matter because we only had 5 fish at 4 lbs total to weigh. I was told 6lb+ won. It was very tough for us and heard others as well but it is a fun group.
  3. crappie tourney on pomme this saturday. great small tourney good bunch of guys and guys. see pomme forum for details..
  4. hey brad. just to be clear with the new rule is it weigh 7 per boat or per fisherman? hope to be there. stacey
  5. I have a minn kota power drive v2 for sale. 12 volt 55lb thrust 54 inch shaft. I bought a lake house last fall which came with a boat. This is not the trolling motor I want for this boat. It is a 2014 model and has less than 5 hours on it. the previous owner didnt hardly use the boat before we bought. I did not post any pictures because you all know what it looks like but I can text some pictures to you if need be. This model sells for $650.00 and I am asking $400.00 for the same as new unit. It is currently located at pomme de terre lake still mounted on the boat but I go up nearly every weekend. If interested either answer post or shoot me a PM or call Stacey @417 848 6930.

  14. buddy and I put in at cc at 6:15 this morning and went searching for crappie in out usual spots. tried a shallow cove first with no luck. moved to some favorite summer time deep trees along the river channel and slowly started picking up some nice slabs. some on minnows and some on jigs. fish were about 7 or 8 foot deep in 23 fow. the fish were not aggressive at all. was biting very lite but yet would swallow hook. they shut down about 8:30 as the sun got higher I guess. started getting pretty warm by mid morning so moved over to a bluff brush pile where we had a little shade. started catching all sizes there the same depth but only on minnows. tried another favorite hole with no luck. went to a big cove in 9 fow and started catching again but this time only on jigs not minnows. by now my count is 12 keepers his is 10 and now the storm clouds have moved in and cool wind is blowing. time to git off the lake. 2:30 pm. biggest was 13.5 inches and a couple 13s and some nice 12s. Im sure we would have limited out had not been for the storm. nice but hot day on the lake with no wind till the storm. good luck everyone.
  15. finally have a good crappie day to report. brother and I started about 9 am this morning. decided to fish the main lake brush piles before all the recreation boats got out then head to the more secluded areas to fish in piece. only had 5 keepers by 1130 am when the water started getting rough from all the boats. went to check another pile wile in the area but someone had beat us to it. pulled into a cove we had never fished and found a little scattered pile so decided to try it while we were there. got a little action on minnows which is what we caught the first 5 on and took a quick break to eat a sandwich then started getting notice on jigs then bingo. started picking them up on red body white skirt tube jigs. got very light hits just about every cast but was hard to get them to commit. we would throw over the brush pile and try to drag along the top of it about 6 foot deep to get them. we had to work at it but we managed to both get out limits by 330 pm. sure felt good to catch them on jigs for a change and to get limits. we only had about a dozen shorts all day. I also picked up some on silver glitter body/chart tail and brother caught some on yellow twister tails. water temp went from 72 in morning to 80 when we quit. clarity about 3 foot deep. beautiful but warm day out and lots and lots of boaters. oh only about 8 males and the rest females mostly full of eggs. good luck everyone.
  16. very funny..it just backs up what I have always said when people tell me that snakes wont hurt you..... but they will darn sure cause you to get hurt. I HATE SNAKES!
  17. I hear that brad. but now its my wife working me. we are in the middle of moving so she keeps me busy. but that we be over soon so I will give you a call and hopefully get back to the tourneys again.
  18. brother and i fished all day saturday and had a hard time finding any crappie. only had 5 keepers by noon when we got checked by the game wardens. the best thing about that is they said we were doing better than anyone they had checked..maybe they just got started i dont know. we ended up hitting a spot just before we quit and got 6 more nice ones. all total was 2 males and 9 females so full of eggs they were about to explode. minnows only. wouldnt look at a jig. beautiful day on the water though.
  19. On the topic of spawn I do not think they have ever gone into full spawn mode do to the weather patterns lately. I fished from CC to almost mutton last sunday and could not find any crappie till 4pm and then caught 8 keepers right before I had to leave at 5. 6 were fat females full of eggs ready to go 2 were dark males. about 6 foot deep in 13 ft of water. also caught 2 nice white bass and a 2 lb cat and all were about to explode with eggs. So I dont think the crappie have nearly all spawned out. just my opinion.
  20. oh no!!!! a filet knife next to LM bass..you know what is going to hit the fan on here now. nice catch. Im jealous.
  21. we struck out saturday also on crappie. only managed 2 little white bass.
