  1. That's awesome. I didn't know it was being sold to the masses. There's a company, Aquapiel, that does the same thing.... I think they would even do your phone. However you have to send anything they do for you off to them for a few weeks.
  2. I met Ray the first time I went to Crane. Great guy - he will definitely be missed.
  3. Seems like there are a lot more pictures of browns recently. Is it my imagination?
  4. I would have said a frog, however you said that's not working. My next one is a small white grub with a light jig head. Falls real slow and retrieved real slow is when I pick up most fish.
  5. You can use it across devices now with Tapatalk's user sign in thing, not sure what they're calling in. A warning though!! You're never gonna get on on your computer bc it's so much simpler on Tapatalk! However, there are still some things you can't do on the mobile app.
  6. I dig it. Sweet soundtrack too!
  7. I don't want to hijack the thread or change the point of the post, but what if you're looking ponds and reservoirs to fish more often than streams and rivers... You don't have the obstacles and currents then. Would anyone recommend a stand up kayak for those bodies of water?
  8. And it was AWESOME!!! Noticed Tuesday night that they had no generation on the schedule, and luckily I have openings on Wednesday mornings to be able to go! Showed up at Watts at about 7:30. Beautiful morning! Only 3 cars. Walked down to the water, low and calm and flowing. Suited up and walked down to that first riffle, was interested to see how the major flows had changed the river bed and currents. Definitely widened out that spot, but still had some good current and depth. I only saw fish dimpling the surface straight down from the parking lot, but I wasn't interested in throwing a midge. So I tied on a copper John and a Hares ear and started picking fish up very consistently. It was a great morning of fishing. That fish was easily my biggest caught yesterday and was probably 15". He actually took line off of my reel, very healthy fish. After fishing that run for almost two hours and not stopping catching fish, I decided to move elsewhere. Walked up to straight across from the parking lot and tied on a pine squirrel leech. Only fished that for about 15 minutes, though I picked up a few fish. The browns are more concentrated in the calmer water for me. Anyone else notice a theme like that? All those browns that were stocked are starting to get some size though. Provided people don't take them early we could have a few nice sized browns there!! At about 11 I drove to marval, had some friends staying there for the weeks so decided to go fish with them for an hour or two. Definitely didn't catch the numbers there. All the fish were about 12" though. I also caught a white bass on a nymph, first time for everything I guess. I didn't get a picture of it though. Most of my pictures were from my gopro, which need to be resized first before posting. There were people fishing powerbait here, and they weren't catching anything at all. I was surprised. Started seeing some surface action so I started paying attention. THERE WERE LONGNOSE GAR EVERYWHERE!!! It was ridiculous. They were spawning though, and some of the females were as big around as my thigh and only in 8" of water! I got plenty of pictures and video of them, but again, gotta resize them before I can post. It was crazy though because you literally could walk up behind them and grab their tail and they would still just sit there. Amazing stuff. Got me wondering though, would a trout pick up another specie's eggs? Didn't catch anymore trout, but seeing the gar made the trip worth it. Gore, even though its not the White or Taney, is still a great close to home fishery!
  9. Yeah, well did you see the show on Discovery last night?? A new species has been 'found' in the last few years or so, and probably should be added to the list to throw a fly at! MERMAIDS. Yeah, that's right. :shakingmyhead: They found em.
  10. I haven't even gotten to see one yet, but Ascend released a new FS128T recently that is wider to be used to stand up in. Not sure how much wider, dimensions, etc. but it looks like a pretty sweet kayak for the price! May not hurt to check it out.
  11. True that. But it definitely sucks for the time being.
  12. This is from a friend of mine that I ran CC with and graduated with. A little too much talking, but it's still crazy.
  13. Might not hurt to check the Upper....? I don't know enough about the flows, nor have I actually fished it enough to know, but there's supposed to be some semi-quality smallie fishing in there. If anyone else on here knows those flows better, they could definitely weigh in. But that might be an option?
  14. Well good luck at the regionals! Is she a senior this year?? It's been awhile that I have heard from Janna that they had an open gym to go play at! I am considering going down. I checked the schedule for it though and the majority of stuff that I would have been interested in was happening today. I haven't fished the upper before ever so that might be interesting for a morning.
  15. That's great. I've been trying to convince some of my fishing buddies that we need to go give it a try, at least once anyways.
  16. DaddyO - do you go??? Or did you just happen to go with someone??
  17. http://neokflyfishers.org/neokff/SMR.html I've never been before - anyone going?
  18. I floated it last summer with my youth group, ended right at Twin bridges... It was a beautiful stretch of river, but for taking teens to go do, it was a loner float than I had expected because the river was slooooooow. I did see a ton of smallmouth though, and it really made me wish I had taken my rod along with me.
  19. Yes. It is posted no fishing. However, you can't see the sign unless you drive up closer to the hospital, which I didn't. I just pulled in and parked on the northeast end of the parking lot by the pond. Anyway, the guard drove up in his golf cart, right after I landed a 4lb catfish on a pine squirrel leech, and told me that I couldn't fish there. A buddy of mine works for the hospital and I told him about the incident. He gave me the contact info for the Hospital Administrator and I called her and asked if I could have permission to fish the pond, catch and release only. She said that she didn't care and that they had to post the no fishing and no swimming signs for insurance reasons. I asked about the guard and she said, "If he comes and tells you to leave, do it. But, if you wait till he makes his rounds, he rarely gets back out, so it was up to me." I got a good chuckle on that one, but I don't feel comfortable fishing there now. I have not fished the impoundment by the zoo since I was a kid, some 40 years ago. Back then, I remember seeing lots and lots of snakes. I hate snakes. Maybe that is what has kept from going back. Haha well how are you supposed to know when he's done/making his rounds? Haha yeah, I can imagine. You need to never go out to the Collinsville around dusk then! It's crawling with them!
  20. Tells you how often I go to any of those stores. I forgot that there was a Kohl's there. I've fished that pond behind Walmart also. Same results, 0 fish. My daughter's boyfriend says that there are some fish in there but they are stacked up at the west end by the inlet. I haven't gone and tried that end. By the way, the pond in front of Bailey Medical is stocked with some really nice fish. However, they won't let you fish it. The security guard will run you off. Just sayin..... Haha at least you still have your mancard then! That's interesting about that pond though, I've walked the whole thing and caught nothing. I'll have to try it again sometime. I've never thought about fishing that pond....... I'll have to try it sometime. Why does the guard run you off? Is it posted no fishing? How about lake Yahola? At least I assume that's the name, I wouldn't really call it a lake either. But it's that big body of water on your left when your driving south on hwy 75 around the Tulsa Zoo exit. It's wide open, definitely would be a good place for the fly rod, I've only been once though.
  21. Thanks for the compliments guys! Apps on the iPhone can do some amazing things with time and patience! I have fished the pond by kohls/panera, definitely never caught anything more than a few panfish here and there, and that's including spin fishing. I am assuming they will "stock" it now since the apartment complex is going up and they're building a walking trail around it. There's also a pond back behind Walmart behind the new nursing home/assisted living building going up, I've only been there once, saw/caught 0 fish.
  22. Just a few photos from the same pond. Nothing huge. Caught that bullfrog on a topwater frog pattern I made up. Definitely was weird... That's a massive pannie!
  23. Can there be no generation and still be massive amounts of water coming through? The gage still says up in the 10k's. Or is the river level just dropping right now?
  24. I need to get some stripers on the fly this year, I guess I need to start paying attention to when the correct time of year is to go out.
