  1. Decided to do a little fishing this afternoon, the place of the day was George Winter Park on the Jeff County end. Fished down at the end for a while where there were some fallen trees for cover. Think I missed a couple, no use to the soft bite yet and I am not sure my equipment is correct for weightless Texas rigged Sencos. Using a white as that is what I have been having the most luck using. No real action there so I decided to move up the bank some to the inside curve of a small point, there was some logs in the water and the sun was shinning on the water there too. Was a little slow still but I did manage to pull 2 nice ones out. At least they were nice by my standards.
  2. Tried to make a post in General Discussion and got the following error Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_VARIABLE in /home/panglers/public_html/forums/ips_kernel/classEmail.php on line 55 Had to attachments (photos) but got the same error when they were deleted.
  3. I have been using Sufix Elite on my spinning reels and been very happy with it, doesn't seem to have much memory and KVD L&L helps too.
  4. WOW, that was nice. With my camera I would have had to use the 'movie' setting and I am sure it would have taken more than 19 seconds. :-)
  5. Nice shots the river looks a little better there than it does here. Seems they have a little more water. Maybe the rain I drove in for 4 hours today will help the river & lake levels. Thanks for the report
  6. I have seen this lake in front of Jefferson College in Hillsboro many times going down Hwy 21. Today I stopped and took a closer look. It looked like a nice lake and appeared that it could have some fish in it or at least places that fish would like to hideout. Has anyone here ever fished and if so comments.
  7. Thanks for the clarification Jerry, I will give wacky rigged. Have you tried the wacky saddles that Tacklewharehouse sells? http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Wacky_Saddle_Kit/descpage-WACSAD.html Look like they would be better than O rings
  8. Grabbed some GY white 4" senkos and some 3/0 worm hooks today and went to Presler Lake. Rigged up the 4" senkos weightless Texas style. Fishing was a little slow got a couple of bites that I was aware of and caught one small smallmouth about 12" long. I may have been fishing it to fast, I'm used to throwing and cranking, then repeat. Same fish in both pictures
  9. Very informative, good read
  10. Thanks Jim I'll grab a pack of White Yum Dingers and give that a try.
  11. You using a genuine GY Senko or one of the knockoffs? Thanks for the tip BTW
  12. Went to Des Peres city park again today, had been there once before back in late summer. The weather was sunny, windy, 50+ degrees. Fished around the lake using a spinner with 2 willow blades, 1 gold & 1 silver, the skirt is white, blue, with some chartreuse. Basically fished around the entire lake casting along the weed lines and out in the middle, covering as much water as possible. Varied the retrieve from fast to slow with pauses letting it fall then taking of again. Not one bite. Then went and got the ultra light with #6 Stren and a 1/8 oz silver Rooster Tail, did the same as above and again nothing. There is suppose to be fish in there but I'll be darn if I can catch them. Back in the summer I got one bite there using a topwater popper, she hit it and took and tangled me up before I could I could drag her out into the open. This is a catch & lease lake so I would think that fish is still there somewhere.
  13. X3 I guess if you look on the bright side it will create jobs cleaning up and rebuilding.
  14. I have no clue, I reread my post to make sure I didn't use the phrase "Politically Correct" The sad thing is he wasn't a kid, this guy was probably in his 50's my guess is that he is also one of those that come out and forget to bring their mother to clean up after them and leave their carp laying all over and then is gets blown into the water.
  15. When I go fishing and someone is already there, I move on and go someplace else. I thought this was the proper thing to do unless someone saw me an invited me to fish the area with them. Well today I'm fishing on a small local lake that you have to walk at least a 1/4 mile to get there. Anyway I'm in the back left cove fishing across the cove with a spinner. I watch 2 guys across the lake fishing the mouth to the right cove. I can see them so I'm sure that they can see me. After a little bit the one guys picks up and heads towards the darn end of the lake. The other one heads to the back of the right cove, or so I thought. In a few minutes I hear rustling in the bushes above the bank on the opposite side of the cove I am fishing. The next thing I know here comes the 2nd guy sliding down the back towards the lake. He stops before going into the lake, darn that would have been fun to watch. He then cast out 10 ft from the bank right where I had been casting. He then throws out another pole. Both had bobbers on them. I was just a little miffed that the nerve of the nimrod. I'm not changing where I was fishing just because this guy wants to fish there, so I decide it was good time to practice casting but trying to hit his bobbers. I was getting pretty close but I don't think the guy ever had a clue what I was doing. He says to me we ought to change places, guess he really wanted to be were I was, I says to him no way the water is to clear I need to stay over here so the fish can't see me. Was wishing I had a practice plug with me, but it was in the truck. Stays there about 10 minutes or so then climbs back up the bank and proceeds to trash through the woods again. The next thing I know he's traipsing right through where I am standing, now I mind you I am not standing on the trail but down on the bank by a fallen tree. Then off he goes yelling for his buddy he tells him he is leaving, thank heavens for small favors.
  16. I have one of their rods that I bought with a combo at Wally World. I then put a Tournament Pro on it. It cast pretty well, haven't caught any fish on it yet. So far I like it but I really don't have anything to compare it to. Just bought a Falcon so we'll see after the Falcon arrives.
  17. I googled Fountain lakes and it looks like there is a hiking/bike trail around them, did I see this correct?
  18. How will the hurricane that is going to hit the east coast effect our fishing here in the Midwest? I think we will be caught in a giant low pressure area unless I am reading it wrong.
  19. Found a Tournament Pro (new) on ebay for $145. It came today and I put it on the Lews Laser combo I bought at Wally World. Of the 3 baitcasters I now have it is by far the smoothest casting one & cast further with less effort. So far I really like it.
  20. Is there enough water there for a small prop? Got a jon with a 20 hp on it.
  21. Was fishing this afternoon at Simpson lake and while I was watching a Blue Heron and reeling in a 1/8 oz silver Rooster Tail when I nice size bass it the lure, I didn't get the hook set, she came out of the water and spit my Rooster Tail, bummer. :-( I kept fishing the area hoping to get her to strike again but nothing, threw out the RT some more, tried a Torpedo, & a square bill crank bait. Fan casted the area and nothing, not another strike at all. So was I wasting my time trying to get her to strike again or basically was she done and left the area or just laid low?
  22. Went over to the Meramec in Valley Park yesterday to fish just west of the Hwy 141 bridge. Decided to go up into the creek that comes in there to fish. Had my $2.54 Rooster Tail on my spinning rod. Was casting around. Saw some tree limbs laying in the water on the same side of the creek as me. That might be a good place for fish I tell myself so I start casting in that direction. On about the 3rd or 4th cast I missed my target and the Rooster Tail landed over the top of the tree limbs. Don't panic, let it settle down and then snatch it over and back into the water. Wrong that didn't work, before it came loose the rear treble hook grabbed onto a limp. Flipping or any other tactic wasn't working. I hate to loose lures, I'm cheap, so I started looking at ways to retrieve my $2.54 lure. It was only about 3 ft from the shore so maybe if I go over there I can knock it loose with a stick or something. When I got over to where the limbs were in the water and my $2.54 lure was stuck. Well the tree limb was rotten and would not support my weight so climbing out on it was out of the question. The diameter of the limbs wasn't that big and I discovered that I could break it off and pull it to me. So that is what I preceded to do. Looked over and as I pulled my rod and reel were sliding down the back towards the water, this won't turn out good. Back over to where the rod was and let out some more line and move it further up the bank. Back to the tree limb, pull snap, crackle & pop and I could reach my $2.54 Rooster Tail and free it from the tree limbs. No way to carry it back with me to many weeds between me and the rod. Cut the lure off and carry it didn't even cross my mind so I threw it out into the water, all should be good, go back and reel it on, right? Walked back over to where the rod & reel were located and proceeded to reel in the excess line. Somehow the line got into the space below the spool, okay take the spool off and get it out. Well crap it's down below that, I pulled and tried to unwrap it to no avail. I cut the line and pulled in the line with the $2.54 Rooster Tail on the other end. Got it back to shore and cut it off the line, in hind sight I should have cut the $2.54 Rooster Tail when I freed it from the tree limbs. The line that is wrapped inside the reel isn't going to be any good to much chance of it being nicked or kinked so all the line from there out has to go, now there isn't enough line left on the spool to be real useful so off it comes too. I had just respooled this reel last week so it was still pretty full. Pull it all off and start over. 1 roll of Sufix Elite 6# $9.29 I can fill the spool twice with this so that's $4.65 per spool 1 Rooster Tail 1/8 oz lure $2.54 Bottom line (no pun intended) I spent $4.65 to save $2.54 maybe I should become a politician.
  23. Great picture, I agree frame it and hang it on the wall
  24. According to it Cabelia's is up but when I tried to go there it's still down. Don't think I would want to be one of their IT guys right now.
