Went to Cabelia's they had all the reels up to Tournament Pro. The Speed Spool didn't seem any better than the LaserMG that I already have so I scratched it off the list. They didn't have any left hand Lews but I was able to mess with some others. I think because I am still in the learning process with a baitcaster that I should stick with the standard rh model for now.

I have been looking for a cranking reel so I have been looking at a 5:4:1 ratio reel. I have also pretty much decided on a Lews my only problem is deciding on which one Lews Speed Sport $99 Lews Tournament MG $129 Lews Tournament $149 Lews BB1 $159 (new may not be available yet but close to release) Lews Tournament Pro $199 (Bought this one) All have aluminum frames with composite side covers, 10 bearings except for the Pro The Tournament & Tournament Pro both have the magnetic & centrifugal brakes I am right handed but thinking of a lefty reel which cuts the choices down to the Tournament MG BB1 Which reel is going to give me the most bang for the buck? Thanks

I have an old Eagle Easy Fish on the console, cam with the boat, & a HB 597 ci HD DI upfront. Haven't gotten to use it much but so far I really like, think I should have saved a little more and gotten SI too. I have the transducer mounted on the TM and I don't really like it mounted like that seems to effect the DI but work well in 2D.

I have always enjoyed catching Drum, would normally catch them when fishing off the bottom with worms. What did you catch that one on? Nice fish BTW & some really nice pictures

Current River Humble Pie With A Dash Of Reality.....
gramps50 replied to GloryDaze's topic in Short Stories

I didn't see the game Friday, I was getting updates on my phone, by the 3rd inning I thought it was over. Checked later and the Cards had started biting away at them. Ended up watching the updates for the 8 & 9th. Been a good game to watch at least the second half. Can see how they got the name "Cardiac Cardinals" While watching the game last night & it was 6-0 I made the statement, remember what happened in Fridays game with Wash. Those kind of games are fun to watch.

New Paddler's Guide To Missouri Is Out!
gramps50 replied to Stoneroller's topic in Conservation Issues
I was at Powder Valley a month or so ago and the lady there told me that it was in the process of being updated but because all their material is being converted to digital it's taking time to get it converted and updated. They were hoping to have new copies by Christmas. -
Been a member of Tinboats.net since I bought my jon about 9 months ago. I have gotten a lot of help there, the jon was my 1st boat. There is a bunch of really good ideas over there. There site is well run & all the members seem are real friendly. If you have a jon or thinking of getting one I would recommend the site. There is a buy/sell/trade section so you might want to become a member (free) and post a WTB of what you are looking for someone my have what your looking for there or know of one.

Regardless Of Your Politics, This Is Embarrassing!
gramps50 replied to Mitch f's topic in New News and General Discussion
I would have to agree -
They showed a video pretty similar to that one on the news tonight, they called it Lake Cam or something like that. I think it was on Fox 2 in STL Here's the story and the original video the crash is about 1:15 into the new cast. The 1st minute was pretty interesting to as it was about a big race that is held there each year. Boats going 190 mph now that haullin' a**

Nice read and great photos, thanks for the update on the region. -
I was in green but that is still REALLY COOL! All our soldiers past and present need to be thanked for their service to this great country. It's because of them that we get to so what we like to do.

When it looked like the rain from Issac had stopped I jumped in the truck and headed to a local lake. Just before Issac I caught 4 small ones just before dusk. So today I headed to the same spot and using the same top water popper I made several cast and nothing, water was a little deeper but still looked pretty clear considering the rain. Stayed there for about 45 minutes and decided to move on. Changed parking areas and took off for the 1/2 mile of so walk to get to the upper lake. Fished all down one side using a buzz bait and also a top water popper. The water was really clear and I could see fish in the lower back finger, including bait fish but not much going on. They weren't liking anything that I was throwing. Wished I had taken some crank baits with me, & I didn't feel like making the trip to the truck to get any so I just continued using the popper trying different retrieves. Thought about leaving but wanted to try the other side so I walked across the dam and down the otherside to the other finger. In that finger there is a tree in the water and threw around it some with nothing. Across the finger and to the right was what appeared to be a tree/log in the water threw the popper over there and just as I started the retrieve I got a hit but no hookup. So I tossed it over there again and this time when I started the retrieve the popper disappeared so I set the hook. It took off taking out the drag, let it run a little then started reeling it in jumped once but I managed to get it to shore. Tried a couple more tosses over there but nothing. Got hung up and ended up breaking the line so It was getting to be supper time and if I didn't want t cold dinner I needed to go home so I hiked back to the truck and headed home. Lost 3 lures and caught one nice fish so I guess all in all it was a decent day.

Helpful Rain, But Not Doing Much For The Rivers
gramps50 replied to Justin Spencer's topic in New News and General Discussion
We don't have sirens where I live but when the coditions are right I can hear the ones in STL County. This afternoon they went off so the wife and I look outside to see what is going on. The sky was bright blue and we couldn't see any threating clouds so she turned on the local TV station to discover that there were some rotating clouds in the north eastern corner of STL County, we live outside South west STL County so it appears that they set the sirens off for the entire county. Most of the area in the warning was over in IL across the river, with 2 very small areas in MO being in the warning yet they alerted the entire county. I really don't know how the STL County sirens are setup but with the size of the county it looks to me like they would have zones, but maybe not. I seem to get better weather forcast off my phone that I do from the weather fools on the TV. -
Looks Like Isaac Is Heading For Missouri
gramps50 replied to Blazerman's topic in General Angling Discussion
We have 0.94 now and it looks like the eye is over Sedlia, Mo which is due west of us so I don't think it will turn and hit STL now as was predicted here. Time will tell if the meterologists missed it here again. -
