  1. Oh did that law apply to me? I thought I was exempt because I'm an idiot. Self anointing jug police, I like it. If something would happen we'd all be guility by association, it would be those d*** fisherman left this out here. The one leaving the jugs are probably the same one's who forgot to bring their mothers to cleanup after them as they leave a trash trail everywhere they go. Sometimes we have police ourselves.
  2. Thought I saw you near Columbia
  3. Been back to Walker several times in the last week. The 1st was last Sunday, caught a couple early evening not trophies but 13-14" range. Then after dark and late I hit a spot & would catch one on every throw or at least get a bite. Got 4 more in the 12-14" range with the biggest being 14.5". Been back a couple of times since but only manage to catch one each time. Where I was catching fish Sunday isn't giving anything not even a bite, even when fishing at the same time. Everything has been up pretty close to the shore. The only other fish I have seen caught is real small sunfish. The signs are still there for the koi, if caught to remove them and not return them to the lake. I would think that MCD could shock the lake and get them out. Looks like they have some catch ponds to filter the water coming off the parking lot that filters the water before it enters the lake. I haven't been there after a big rain to see how well it works. They still have the limit signs up & there is nothing about C&R mentioned. I've been to DePeres several times with no luck, could be the time, normally mid afternoon, but never had any luck there. But that was last year.
  4. I have never tried it as above but to limit backlashes when learning I wrapped a layer of splicing tape. I liked it better as it didn't leave any sticky glue behind, it will only stick to itself.
  5. That's one beautiful fish. I agree you leased a fishing spot that happens to have deer.
  6. Interesting point, the more you know about the species of fish your trying to catch the easy it is to get into their heads, per say, and figure out what they will do when presented with something that is suppose to memic forage. I like to watch my lures in clear water to see how they react to different movements of the pole and reel. Then I try and decide if that looks natural or not, has helped me. Will the bait ball catch fish, sure if it's fished right, I'm guessing it will catch more fisherman.
  7. Small your SeaArk a prop or jet? I ran the Meramec a couple of years ago when I first bought my job boat but after destroying a prop just past the Kirkwood ramp I pretty much stay away from there. Now that the water is up I'm sure it's much better. You guys fishing down river from Kirkwood?
  8. We use to catch them in the Gasconade and would eat them. So I would have to say yes catch a few and have a fish fry.
  9. I fish a couple of ponds that are about 4 acres & 3 acres. This is bank fishing only so I can't use the boat and electronics to find the depth. I have heard there is away of casting then counting til the lure hits the bottom and you'll come up with a good estimate. I understand the concept but wouldn't you need a certain weight for this to work. For instance a 1/2 oz will fall faster than a 1/4 oz. So how is this done so the results are somewhat consistent?
  10. What a neat project for kids, I will assume that the fish doesn't survive this process.
  11. Thanks for sharing DC & thanks for hanging the flag.
  12. The Purist showed up so I spooled them up with some braid and went out fishing. Used them on several trips now and they cast like a dream. The retrieve is smooth. I like the reel and am very happy with them. When it comes time for a new reel can't really say the the Purist is worth the additional $20
  13. I think the sign said 4am to 10 pm, it's actually called something like Township Community Lake now according to the signs.
  14. Went down Rolls way for the Christening of friend little girl. Have been wanting to checkout Little Prairie lake so after the christening I went by there. Nice looking lake and the eater was very clear. Tried to do a little bank fishing but it appears there's a 3-4' of grass at the bank. Did try throwing over it with some worms rigged weedless. Caught one sunfish, but he was foul hooked. Want to go back & take the boat, ant tips or tricks?
  15. Carp are good fighters for their size. They are fun to catch. Every once in a while I'll spend the evening trying to catch one just for the fun of the fight. Congrats one the big one...
  16. Interesting I'm gonna have to give that a try.
  17. I was reading the Leader today and the is a classified listing for some lake lots at the following lakes. Goose Creek, Terre-du-lac, & Cedar Lake. I've been thinking it might be nice to have a lot in a lake complex so I'd have someplace to go fish during the week with the jon boat. Anyone know about the fishing at any of these lakes?
  18. I missed it when I was at Cabral's the other day they had the Pflueger Purist spinning reel on sale for $49.98, didn't see the ad til I got home. Before driving back to Cabela's I thought I would check the local sporting goods store as they will price match. Well they don't handle the Purist. Decided to do some more checking before driving the 25 miles one way to Cabela's. Checked Gander Mountain, nothing. So I checked Dunn's Sporting Goods, about the same distance as Cabral's but someplace different to go. Well low and behold they had them on sale for $39.88 with free shipping, so I ordered a 35 series. Might have to get a 30 to at that price. These are normally $79.95 reels. I'm a a big Pflueger President fan so I'll see if I become a Purist fan. Kept thinking about it and went back and ordered the 30 too for that price.
  19. Welcome to the area. My guess is that you live near Fenton or Arnold. I don't fish the Meramec much any more but did a lot from the bank when I first started fishing again. Bought a jon boat the same year the river was pretty low so it was hard to get around. I think the best smalie fishing is in the upper meramec, there some guys on here that know much more about it on here. There are several park lakes that are close to the Fenton/Arnold area. Susan, Fabic, Bee Tree, Walker in Kirkwood. Don't think you can wade these but good places to bank fish. The Missouri Conservation Commission website is a good place to look for access too.
  20. That's one good looking fish
  21. Heard at the local sporting goods store that the bass were getting on buzz baits so I went over there today to check it out. I caught one 12"er on a black Graviton. Saw a young lady catch a 3.5 pounder on a small white/chartreuse buzz bait. Then I saw a guy catch a #4er on a hotdog of all things, was actually fishing for cats. I caught a 18.75" #2.64er on a pumpkin Rage Tail. Was told that the stocked the lakes June 4th. Anyone know what size fish they normally stock these kind of lakes with?
  22. I agree Yozuri is good, spray a little KVD L&L on it and it's real manageable plus its very tough. I also like McCoy. I think Tackle Warehouse sells it too.
  23. Where else can your bait be bought?
  24. Thanks Lombardy pretty much explains the problem.
  25. I'm sorry to hear that Tapatalk will not be supported here any longer but I do understand the reason. I just don't understand why these app developers take a perfectly good app and try and make it into a Swiss Army Knife. It bad enough when they mess up their own stuff but when they mess up someone else's it just isn't right. It just makes it so convienent to read many of the forums in one place. Thanks for the explanation Phil, wish it could be fixed but I do understand, thanks for everything.
