  1. I'm thinking axle flex is most probable cause. What's strange is my buddy has same trailer and an 18' griz tracker with a 75. Our boats weigh almost the same if not his a little heavier. He hasn't had any problems. No suggestions on a place to go that anyone has had experience with?
  2. Really nice Jason, that will give you a lot more space up there. Once duck season is over end of January we'll have to get together for some early spring crappie. I'm already checking my logs for the white bass run as well.
  3. I've had my rig now for about 8 months and noticed the inside of both trailer tires have worn down to almost no tread. I've put a good amount of miles on the trailer but the tires should wear evenly. I've googled the heck out of it and found a handful of issues that could be the cause. What I am hoping you all could help me out with is a trailer repair place that could solve some of these issues. Any place in NWA would be preferable, thanks guys!
  4. I get on occasionally just to see who's catching what, if you start stacking some slabs with your trolling set up I'll be waiting for a call. I'll trade some fresh duck breasts for another trip on the Cane Cutter.
  5. Went out Friday night hoping to fill a couple freezer bags with fillets before duck season starts up. Fished with crappie minnows, started in 35 FOW and moved to 20 FOW as the night progressed. Caught the most fish from 25-20 FOW around pole timber. Ended around 11pm with 6 walleye (no keepers), 2 cats, 7 whites and NO CRAPPIE! Not a bad evening and still ended with some fillets but none of the treasured sacalait.
  6. I've had some dynamite fishing up that arm when the water is right. I like it when you get far enough up that there is a little current, seems to congregate the fish a bit more. Never caught any monsters but always seem to get into some. Very few people way up there as well which is always nice.
  7. well done FF, impressive
  8. Jason, still around, just haven't done much fishing. august - january is pretty much reserved for preparing for football, football, preparing for hunting, and hunting. Between all that I usually have time to make it to a creek or two or combo some fishing with scouting but it's minimal. Sept 21-22 I'm hoping to get out but who knows, I'm not real confident on my deer locations so I may be better off scouting for the opener the weekend after. Jeez, the struggles of hunters and fisherman.... haha
  9. Very true FF, can't agree more. Keep me updated on your pursuit of the little feathered rockets, hopefully a few more of them show up before the season ends.
  10. It is a shame that waterfowlers are getting a bad image, being a younger hunter myself I can feel the uncertainty in many of the landowner's voices when I approach them about hunting. Not sure how or why this trend of hard core rockers and tatted up wrestlers all of a sudden became the poster children for my age group of hunters. Hopefully it is a fad like many other things and will pass with time. If only guys like Lester Capps or Jim Ronquest were the role models of my generation instead of guys like Chad Belding. Oh well.... Good to hear about the crappie though, I may have to give it a whirl
  11. Saw the same thing with the teal, don't know what persuaded them to leave but there was definitely a mass exodus from the surrounding area friday morning. Had 2 ponds and an area on the lake that I felt pretty good about (75+ birds weekend before), scouted them friday evening and saw maybe 15 birds total. Decided to shoot doves instead. Been having any luck with crappie? I haven't been out in a few weeks and need to restock the freezer.
  12. We put in a little up stream of deep ford and took out at 71B access. I may be going again this weekend, can't beat this weather and water levels. Let me know how the ned rig treats you, we had pretty good luck on finesse worms our last float.
  13. Yep made it out at 6:30 sat morning on the Big Sugar and had a phenomenal top water bite. Pop-r's, zara puppies, and buzzbaits. Didn't matter which, they were smacking them all. 5 of us floated a little over 5 miles and caught over 100 for the group. No monsters, biggest one being 14". All very healthy and well fed. Couldn't have asked for better weather and water levels.
  14. Saw the nice weather and a rise in the water levels so I figured this could be a good chance to hit the river and see what I've been missing. Planning on an early morning float starting around 6:30 to beat the crowds and hoping to be off before noon. Any floats you all would recommend? We will be using and shuttling our own canoes so public access is a must. Think the fishing will be any any good after these floods?
  15. Ended last night around 1, called it a night a little earlier than I planned but ended up with 9 crappie between 2 of us. Caught about a dozen more that were short. And finally caught a cat on my jugs! Saw about 6 boats under 12 bridge as we were leaving. Caught all on minnows 15' down in 45' FOW in pole timber. No shad came in but had a few hundred smaller minnows. No walleye
  16. Where are you going jdelow? I'll be out as well, probably around prairie creek or rocky branch
  17. I've been out a handful of times this summer with pretty good success, not tons of crappie but a good mixed bag of table fare. Walleye, whites, hybrids, crappie, cats. Only thing I'd add is jigging dark tubes, white curly tails or other similar lures will also produce fish if the live minnows aren't. Usually I'll set out 2 poles, one with live bait, other with jig and let the minnow sit while I actively jig the artificial. Bluffs have been producing and if you can a good shoreline that has been blown all day by the wind you can usually find good concentrations of bait. Don't sink your lights too deep, only a few feet down will be fine. Good luck! get back with your results
  18. I got out the night of July 3rd and set some jugs and found a nice tree ridden bank back in Coose to fish with the lights. Set up in 25 FOW near the channel ledge and tied up between two trees. Ended with a great mixed bag of fillets, handful of whites, 6 crappie (12"ers) and two nice walleye (24"ers). All on minnows just off the bottom. Had one heck of bait ball at about 10pm and it continued to grow as the night went on. No cats on the jugs unfortunately. Great evening to get out.
  19. My excursion last weekend was a similar experience. Ended around 2am with 2 nice cats that we caught on jugs, one walleye and 6 crappie all on minnows. I don't the full moon helped much, we had a mini minnow storm but never got the shad. Fished in 25 FOW near the channel that was down around 60 FOW. I think I'll be shopping around for some new locations but without a fishfinder it'll be trial and error for me for another month or so.
  20. That's a wall hanger right there. Imagine that above your mantel haha
  21. I'll mark it down. this was last weekend... got into them good right before dark. lots of shorts and a bunch of nice whites
  22. Planning on heading out late Sat afternoon and doing some crappie and cat fishing till 2am or so. Figured I'd lay out my 20 jugs then anchor up to a tree and fish till I can't keep my eyes open. Any one been catching any crappie that could lend some insight on where to start? Probably try around pt 12. Depth of water, structure, lures? On a side note had a banner weekend on table rock. Did some night fishing and caught 6 cats all in 3 lb range (perfect eating) along with 2 nice walleye and a couple dozen crappie with the largest close to 15". Caught the cats on a trot line with stick bait and the rest on green curly tail grubs jigging vertically below the dock. 20 FOW. Had 3 sows of some specie break me off before I got a look so who knows what they could have been. Glad the night bite is here, I've been waiting.
  23. If you are going for just entertainment purposes I would try some of the creeks and rivers vs the lake. The fish are more accessible and apt to bite. Illinois river, elk river, war eagle, white river, clear creek, indian creek. all offer good wade fishing and usually a fair amount of smallmouth bass that can offer a good challenge on ultralight gear. Plus they are a little more interesting for kids with rapids, crawdads, minnows and gravel bars at their disposal.
  24. there are always some lunkers lurking around that river, great catch.
  25. fished twin bridges yesterday evening and the white was still murky. Richland had cleared nicely and water levels were only a couple inches high. Tough evening though, only caught a few and they were all right before dark. Saw a few groups rubbing up in the shallows so they are still spawning but definitely not with as much ferocity. I'd say the season is winding down with the rivers being as warm as they are the fish will be retreating to deeper haunts very shortly. Caught them on a grey swimming minnow jerked very erratically. Saw some others having a little more success with live minnows on the bottom. Good luck! I'm ready for the crappie
