  1. Results from the MoBassFishin' Solo series tournament as reported on the Bassin Bob website. Today Bobby Albert smashed 25.10 pounds of Lake of the Ozarks Bass anchored by a giant 8.10 pounder. Bobby fished from the 50mm and above and reported catching his monster bag on the spinner bait and jig. Second place was won by Bassing Bob member, John Vonahn. John also had second big bass, 5.70 pounds. John reported catching a lot of fish on some banks in the Gravois, he reported catching his fish on 6th sense stickbait. Wiggle wart crawdad (Original) and shad rap. Most anglers reported catching their fish on the stick bait, jig, A-rig and crank baits, mid way to the back of creeks on rock transition banks and secondary points.
  2. Got this from Bassin Bob and they did not have 4th place listed. Sorry Ed. Chris Embry / Justin Minx 5 19.88 2nd Place Scott Danek / Scott Danek Jr. 5 17.87 3rd Place Ryan Sonders 5 16.86
  3. I am 60 now and when i was younger I did lawncare and landscaping for 20 years and beat my body up. Have had shoulder surgery on one shoulder and knee surgery on one knee and they are telling me i need to get the other ones done too. I have had a desk job for 20 years now and my back hurts every time i stand up, They say sitting is the new smoking and i believe it. Hope to retire soon so i can enjoy my remaining years before i can't do the things i want to do anymore.
  4. Not sure of the exact size but the ones I was using for trout at the White river were pretty small. Then I tried using the same ones for white bass at LOZ and the blades did not spin. So I am thinking the current helped the blades spin on the river. And I went to the next size up on the lake and that helped get the blade spinning.
  5. We just sold our river place and bought a condo in Osage Beach for the very same reason. We are 5 minutes and two turns off 54 just after crossing the GG bridge. And like you say, in the middle of everything. And the State park and PB2 are 5 minutes away by land and less by water so we plan on spending a lot of time there. I hope to be retiring there very soon. But in the meantime will be there every weekend. We looked everywhere before buying from the dam area, down HH and all the way to Camdenton but decided Osage Beach was the best access wise.
  6. I agree with the others. the older I get the less I like the cold. in my other life I worked lawn care and landscaping which meant I was always outside and loved winter and hated summer. I always said you can put on layers to stay warm in winter. but can only take off so many layers in summer without causing an uproar. Now I am 60 and have been sitting behind a desk for 20 years and I can not tolerate cold near as much as I once could. We have gone to the white river every year in February for almost 30 years and we have fished many times from the boats with temps in the teens. Now days I am happier sitting inside with a fire going, drinking adult beverages and playing cards all day.
  7. Caught this one while crappie fishing in December off a condo dock a few years ago. I was vertical fishing in the slips and was not having much luck and went out to the second to last slip which is about 35 foot deep. Let the little jig go all the way to the bottom and got a solid thump and pulled to set the hook and it didn't move much. Then it took off for deeper water and was ripping off line and I ended up laying on my belly and pushed the little rod I was using all the way into the water to just before the reel went under and basically fought it like that. Took about 20 minutes to get to where I could see it. Then another 10 to get it to the surface and I had to use both hands under it to flip it up onto the dock. It was a little over 10lbs.
  8. i agree 100%. i love vertical jigging off the condo docks because i live for the tick or actually a thump is even better. i have learned a light tick usually means a crappie and a lot of times it is a small crappie. A solid thump came be a bigger crappie, a bass, a walleye, a big drum or a big catfish. i have caught all these after a solid thump.
  9. Same deal for me and the wife this weekend. Fished off the docks for a bit Friday night and got a few. Saturday put the boat in and went looking for an isolated dock near the channel and first one we tried, we never left. Caught our fish pitching into the boat well close to the floats. But even in the middle of the well we were getting fish down to about 6 foot. Color did not seem to matter.

  12. Yeah nice meeting you too.
  13. I was there this weekend and we went after some crappie. Saturday we launched at Coffman and ran to hit some docs with brush piles. My wife and i ended up with about a dozen decent ones between us. I then pulled the boat and hauled it around to the condo we stayed at by PB2. This morning i fished off the condo docks for about an hour and picked up the fish in the pics. Got the walleye in the boat slip on a white zig jig. I was using 4lb line and had to lay on me belly to land it with no net. it was right at 20". i can't say i have ever done that before and I was quite surprised to get a walleye like that.
  14. I think my wife would tell you i would rather go fishing.
  15. Ok guess i stand corrected. Good to know i have something to look forward to in my older age.
  16. Doubt many will be water skiing. And the guy driving the boat was 71. https://www.mshp.dps.missouri.gov/WP03/AccidentDetailsAction?ACC_RPT_NUM=170661209
  17. Funny you say that Old Plug. I have never owned a pleasure boat.-only fishing boats. I started fishing the "lake" in the late 60s, going down with my neighbors to the North shore which was where most everyone from St. Louis went. We ran around in old 16 foot aluminum v hull with a 15 horse motor and never had any problem. There were not many big boats back then. Mostly ski boats and it was easy to go anywhere and everywhere. We fished all over the north shore and Gravois and had a blast. Over the years I have seen all the changes and agree it has not been a good thing. These days it is hard to find any green space on a lot of the shoreline because of all the condos. All the high density housing is putting a bazillion people on the lake and they all have to have their big boats and toys. Seems to be the way of the world now though. To many people crowding everywhere, and doing whatever they want with no regard for those around them. Just check out the Tablerock forum sometime. I fished the lake back then and having been fishing it many times over that 50 year span. And I still believe the fishing is as good if not better than it was back then. I won a one day tournament with a buddy in 1991 with a little over 15lbs. And that was what it usually took to win them back then. Now, as you know, it take 20lbs most times to even be in the money.
  18. One thing that amazes me though, being on Lake of the Ozarks on most any decent weather weekend is like heading out on the ocean. Even last weekend when it 25 at sunrise and a high in the 40s on Saturday i still saw the huge cruisers running around throwing massive wakes. But LOZ, based on the winning tournaments weights and numbers of fish caught, seems to have better fishing and bigger bass then 20 years ago
  19. sale pending
  20. No neighbor trouble at all.
  21. I do not see a way to delete this so I am just going to call it sale pending.
  22. Yeah, would of been really hard to pass that one up with a bow. A rifle I could see letting it walk and waiting to see what else might show up, but that is a great buck by bow. Good job Seth
  23. Alot. I was down there the last two weekends and was surprised by the big draw down. Looked like a couple feet. Totally shut down the topwater bite for a bunch of the local pros who were doing well in the Costa FLW. https://www.flwfishing.com/news/2017-10-16-top-10-patterns-from-lake-of-the-ozarks
  24. Like every thing else, it all comes down to money and what can bring in the most. Boating and big boats come first along with everything that goes with them like fuel, restaurants/ bars , places to stay while at the lake. And of course selling bigger and bigger boats. Fishing would be second and there is a lot of money made by all involved thanks to people participating in tournaments so no one wants to change the status quo. Including the MDC.
  25. Monkey Dodo ton??? Guess that means a lot? You could say the same thing at pretty much any lake in the country. There are always locals who get really good at fishing a particular lake and then win a bunch of money in tournaments. Lake of the Ozarks is a perfect example. You see the same guys in the top 5-10 over and over.
