  1. Crappie are biting good on minnows around brush, real pretty color too. All the big blacks didnt have any eggs, have they already spawned or are those big males?
  2. any pics of the 19 1/2? that would be a record
  3. Anybody heard if any crappie or whites being caught in the shoal creek area?
  4. last year spring my buddy and i caught 12 nice ones. he caught one that measured 17 and most of them we caught were over twelve...biggest bag of crappie ive ever caught, but nothing since
  5. Calkid. You know how perticular the ole man is. With the boats. I think we should use whatever we want on the lake. Hell most fishing kayaks are worth more than my Jon boat
  6. ill be down there this afternoon once the sun comes out
  7. im sure ill end up at springfield lake one of these days this weekend
  8. Its just a sport that goes along with living on the lake. There are plenty of private lakes out there to live on. I dont live on the Lake but my brother used to have a Sailboat in K-City and nothing made me happier then when i was woke up by 50 bass boats at 6 am with the sweet smell of two stroke exhaust before they took off for a tourney.
  9. ill only use the troller haha. The only prob i see is with keeping fish alive for a weigh in since kayaks and most jon boats dont have live wells. maybe a fish basket would work as long as we didnt have 5 big keepers in it. Im thinking everybody bring their fav. lure or a pack of plastics for the enrty and winner takes home some new baits
  10. i would, but i have a little flat bottom
  11. we went into flat creek and caught 45 on minnows, in about 10 feet of water on timber. Only a couple over 12 most of them were just perfect keepers and lots of shorts.
  12. Beaver is a great start. You can go either way from there, heard of some nice walleye being caught also, mostly be accident when fishing for whites, that's a great accident to have. Good luck, we've been using 1/4 oz white vibric rooster tails and firecracker color swimming minnows on a 1/4 oz roadrunner head. Talk to other guys that caught more than me and they were using 1/8 oz jig heads with a white slider. Honestly if ya find a school you could prob throw a teddy bear at them and they would eat it.... But that's what I've used and that's what I've heard
  13. Head down a couple miles to beaver creek...With these warm days and nights I bet Sunday will be a great day there, prob more numbers in beaver right now than river run....there will be a million people but it's worth it
  14. We were up stream from the mouth about 11/2 miles. I went the next day and bank fished and caught 12. If you go up stream on your left where the big rocks start is where we caught all of them. You'll know what I mean I they are the only big rocks on the left when your traveling upstreM
  15. My brother told me one of he talked to someone that landed an 11 lber in flat creek a week or so ago. Im a couple people down the line on that story so it could have gained a pound or two
  16. i talked a guy in Beaver Creek about a mile up in the creek from the mouth the other day that had a couple keepers one was a little over 27.
  17. I know everything looks a little bigger underwater, as for spearfishing everything still has to be within legal length. So i think i have a pretty good eye by now. Honestly i was very suprised on the number of quality keepers until after I started diving. We mainly dive Bull Shoals so we can spear fish. As for that lake the quality is definitely there, if you ever get a chance to go dive it is worth it just to see how many big bass are lurking everywhere. Kinda makes you sick. Especially around most the fish attractors they put in that lake, they are huge compared to the dinky little ones on TR. Some of them it looks like they sunk a small Forrest . I
  18. haha when i cut them open, one is full of semen and the other full off eggs.....catch and release is for rich folks, trust me....as a diver, there is no shortage of any species in any of the lakes. yeah i get the whole catch and release thing, and i do it if i have fish in the freezer. but i think its funny when anglers have to always say they do it just to make a statement.. might as well go get a bagel at panera and run by starbucks for a coffee.(TRENDY). i actuqally ate a 4lb 4 ooz largmouth the other day. sorry im not sorry if you disagree. all i can say is go scuba diving and then opinions would be totally diferent it fefinitly changed mine.
  19. started at about 3 caught 10 fish white vibric rooster tails and few on a firecracker swimming minnow with a white roadrunner head. Some people were tearing them up most people were getting skunked. had to take out around 630 due to battery issues, at that time tons of people were coming up in boats and on the bank....we prob had to leave before the bite really started. I did manage to land a 12 lb carp on 4 lb test mr. crappie line(im a believer in a cheap good line) my dad landed a close to 3 foot long gar that he accidently snagged in the tail. and we got one short walleye. whites were scattered out in about a 200 yard stretch. water temp got up to 60...........
  20. I love the bobby garland swimmers on a roadrunner head. Lots of action without having to work it fast
  21. ill be out on Springfield lake friday, prob throw a square bill for a bit, always seem to get a few hits on them, crappie seem to like trying to fit them in there mouths too. i drove over today and the water looked good, it usually only stays muddy for about a day then it goes right back to normal
  22. People over due the whole catch and release thing. If you don't believe go diving. I dive these Ozarks lakes all summer and I see more largemouth and smallies than anything. There is absolutely no shortage. And I promise every time you throw a bait in a 5 pounder sees it. Getting him to bite may be a different story. Don't get me wrong I don't keep every largemouth I catch cuz I have plenty if crappie in the freezer but keeping a few here or there isn't gonna hurt anything.
  23. I caught one about a year ago in lake Lotawana up by KC it was about a pound so I ate it and it was some if the whitest, best fish I have ever had
