What kind of flash did you use to brighten up the background it almost looks like daytime? And why the shades? F2F

Don't know if this holds true all over the lake or just in deep water but the D.O and temp chart for July 14 showed that between 20 and 40 feet the D.0. was less than 1.0 in that range. F2F

Looks like he never wore mouth protection either.

Leonard's special coffee turned me into an alcoholic, lost my job, have all kinds of time on my hands now to fish and collect welfare and unemployement. Oh wait it was just a dream, oh well back to work. F2F

Tim, I must have just missed you those nights, I fished between outlets 1 & 2 Sunday through Thursday nights, usually didn't get there until after 10PM. The water had dropped down to 2 units by the time I got there. I used the split shot above a white leech when the water was moving pretty fast and the flyrod when it was kind of slack. Caught most on the split shot rig the first 3 nights including several whites and 1 smallmouth. On the fly rod, black hibenator or PMS worked best. Most were in the 15-18 inch range with one being just over 21. Wednesday and Thursday night almost all were dinks 12 and under. F2F

Or it could have been some good hearted flyfisherman that noticed the tire was flat and took it off and went to have it fixed before the owners returned but didn't get it back in time before they put the spare on and left. Yeah right

Just go to Lilleys Landing website (Phil has a link in his signature at the bottom of his post) and look at the tackle shop link and click on Leonard Keeney and his flies will pop up and it is on there. F2F

I am scratching mine all next week with a 4wt and hibernator when the water is down and spinning rod when it is up. F2F

That is real early for him, 10PM is about his usual starting time. Must have been a cloudy day or the sun on the back of his head would have sent the fish to cover. F2F

Beavers Bend State Park below Broken Bow Lake in southeastern corner of the state. Beavers Bend Flyshop has a message board similiar to this one. Lower Illinois river below Tenkiller dam. There is a thread for that on here. Both are year round fisheries and stocked on a regular basis. Right now the LIR may be blown out by round the clock generation but Beavers Bend has an area that is fishable above where the turbines dump that is unaffected called spillway and lost creek. F2F

2 Condos Branson July 3 - 8 2011

Had a few questions so to make it clear that price is for all 5 nights. HC -
I have 2 condos reserved at the Falls Village for July 3 checking out July 8th. One is a 2 bdrm and one is a 1 bdrm studio. The 2 bdrm is most likely a 1 bdrm delux with ajoining studio and the 1 bdrm is a studio. I booked the 2 bdrm for a friend at work and he wanted an additional 1 bdrm and now can't go. So I am listing the 2 bdrm for $500 and the 1 bdrm studio for $200. Send me a PM or call me at (918)798-2634. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GO THROUGH A TIMESHARE PRESENTATION BUT YOU COULD GET $55 - $75 IF YOU WANTED TO. The Falls Village is on Gretna road turn at Shorty Smalls and go back about a 1/4 mile or you can come in off of Fall Creek road so it is close to everything including the dam for you fishermen. Thanks, Henry Crouch

Vidoes Of Lake Taneycomo And Table Rock Flood 2011
fly2fish replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Most of the fish (trout) come upstream to find the clearer water. The current doesn't seem to bother them, they either hug the bottom or hang out in the seems along the edges. '08 was a great year even during the high generation after the gates were closed, caught more browns during the summer and early fall than any other time. Also think of all the smallmouth, Kentuckies and walleye that will be there most of the summer. F2F -
I don't think there is a taper to it, one end is weighted on the inside. Most have a tag that says which end is which or has a loop for leader attachment. If the line doesn't have either you will have to use some precision scales to weigh like 4' of each end to see which weighs more and that would be your forward end. F2F

Give the guy a break he has been anwsering the phone 24/7 for the last 3 years he deserves a break I know last weekend you just had to be ready to fish whatever condition was there. Friday night 1 one all night, Saturday the schedule showed same but when I got there it was off. Need to have a fly rod set up to drift fish, one to throw streamer and spinning rod for jigs or fly and split shot the fish are still there just have to get to them. F2F

With the generation line not responding and the release schedule not reliable I wasn't sure what to expect when I got to the parking lot about 11pm Friday night. I found it to be about 704.5 and not sure if it was steady or dropping but either condition that level has always been tough for me, not enough flow to do any good drifting with lighted indicator or bounce a jig and to much to really throw a streamer. After no success with any of those methods I tied on a white streamer and pinched on a 1/8oz. split shot about 6in. above the fly on the spinning rod. This method finally started to produce consistently. Even though a 1/8oz jig wouldn't drift the added drag of fly/split shot would. It didn't take more than a 5 foot bounce to get a strike. After catching 6 in less than 30 minutes I deemed problem solved and left at 3am. At least I didn't have to deal with a bright moon (2nd problem)because of the cloud cover. Saturday night arrived about 9pm took a couple of friends and 6 year old. Water was dropping out from 704 but bright moon overhead. The granddad landed a small one on the spinning rod with the fly/split shot while I was teaching the 6yr old to throw the fly rod a bit. He did great but without waders couldn't reach the fish at outlet 1. He switched to the fly/split shot and landed a 15+in bow his second cast. His dad took a couple pics and released it. After that he was ready to go back, he almost fell alsleep while we were eating (all day at SDC and a couple hrs in the pool) otherwise he is the last to want to quit. It is now about midnight and I had picked up a few, one 18incher using the white bunny leech with 1/8in bead. Had to get the fly down to the bottom to get bit, just like when they are generating. Saw someone walking up stream and they asked "doing any good" and knew it was Leonard, as I was walking over with fly still dragging behind, had a hard hit and it was the second best of the night at around 17in. You can read Leonard's report on how the rest of the night went. So I think I have solution to the bright moon. Get it to the bottom. F2F

Has anyone been ticketed for fishing below Zink Dam? I happen to know this kid and he is an avid fisherman. From the Tulsa World: A man stranded on a sand bar in the Arkansas River Sunday afternoon had to be rescued when the water level rose while he was fishing. Jed Phillips called 911 when he realized the swift current and rising water south of the Pedestrian Bridge would not let him cross back to shore. Crews arrived around 5:15 p.m. and saw Phillips on a sand bar near the west bank of the river. A three-man crew slowly waded through the water to the sand bar to get Phillips a life jacket and wade back with him. He was brought back to shore about 5:50. "I waded across to fish a little out on the sand bar and didn't realize how quick the water was coming up," Phillips said. Neither Phillips nor any firefighters were injured. Phillips was cited by the Tulsa Police Department for "swimming, standing or wading in the Arkansas River." I carry my company supplied cell phone when wading, especially at night instead of my personal cell phone, that way in case I dunk it I don't have to pay to fix or replace it.

For those particular dates I could get you a studio condo at Bluegreen at Big Cedar for $75 a night Feb 21-24.

Unmatched Line Weights Vs Rod Weight
fly2fish replied to BredMan's topic in General Angling Discussion
I usually use my 8'6" 4wt Sage with both WF3 and WF5 line (don't have any 4wt line). Also have a 6wt Sage Launch that I throw with the WF5, I have 6wt line that came with it but don't have a spare spool to put it on. My favorite rod used to be a Browning 8' 3wt until I started fishing mostly at night and it would only cast with the WF3. I will see which one throws best Friday night on Taney with ice on it. F2F -
Cabela's Prestige Plus
fly2fish replied to Feltracer's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
Just use the reel you got on your 4wt rod. It won't make hardly any difference if you put the right line on it. I have a Battenkill 5wt with WF5 that I use on both my Sage 4wt and 6wts and a Crystal River 3wt with WF3 that I use on both too. When using the 4wt rod with bigger weighted flys I use the 3wt reel or the 5wt reel with 6wt rod, the heavier flys seem to balance out the lighter line. Just try it out first before trading or getting something else. F2F -
I tend to agree but for a different reasons and that is I blame the declining quail population on the hawk overpopulation. I live and hunt in Northeastern Oklahoma and 15 -20 years ago we used to maintain 6 to 7 covey of quail on my uncles farm of about 400 acres. Now we are lucky to have 1. We have even implimented habitat restoration and food plots but one day during deer season a couple years ago we took a break and while sitting and eating lunch we counted 9 hawks sitting in trees around just one 80 acre field. Once while quail hunting I got up a single and hawk swooped down and took it out of the air about 50 yards in front me. Bobcats are another reason for the decline. So the game officials need to decide what is most beneficial, more huntable wildlife (that bring in $$$)or protected wildlife (which cost $$$). f2F

Zach you know that pic is really just a shameless plug for Backcountry Outfitters Next time turn your hat around backwards. Nice LIR fish though. You and DaddyO need to post more pics from there(to take some of the pressure of Taney) or maybe I need to start fishing LIR more. F2F

The DO has been up for over a month now when they were generating, didn't know if they were injection O2 or whether it was because TR level is lower that it has been in a long time. I know the fish have been full of fight all fall and the water relative warm. Glad the fish haven't really been stressed this year. This is just a question that I am sure has been thought of before by MDC and the Corp, but wouldn't it be more economical to open a gate an inch or two when they are generating when the DO is low, it would add water with higher DO and only raise the tailwater level a few inches.
