  1. Fishing has been pretty good. We punched many bass in the face yesterday. Losing days is a bummer, but better to be safe.
  2. Leaving Thursday. I've seen the old girl high before, so...
  3. Many of you will recognize the ramp at Schooner Creek Resort. The two stumps on the sides of it are now under. Water is milky brown, lots of debris.
  4. Identify however you like. We won't judge, lol.
  5. Water in the back of the resort coves around Schooner is now brown, choked with debris of all types. Upside is that if the sun gets on it and warms it up, fish should pull on in. Too many downsides to list.
  6. July, maybe.
  7. Safe travels.
  8. Kim City to the dam. Yesterday you could get around, but needed to use some sense and caution. Now? Who knows.
  9. Oh, I'm a tad more versatile than that.
  10. Think the blacks got started, but the rest all seem to be slow getting it done.
  11. Shoot. I think we cranked it 4 or 5 times.
  12. Hit it pretty hard today with the looming forecast. Fortunately the fish played along. Caught a tremendous number of solid keepers. Not monsters, but 16"-18" fish. Pushing hard on 20+, not including squeakers. Caught them all day, more or less regardless of water temp or color. Most of the fish were sitting on the bottom in 15' or so. But we also caught a few on the banks (blacks) and as deep as 30' (K's). Spots are relating to docks pretty consistently. Best deal was the 1/8 OFH with a cut Zinkerz on 6#. Mix of colors, everything from gp red flake to shad colors. Fish don't really seem to be eating anything. No sign of shad, craws, etc. Other than a few blacks on the bank of spawn coves, most of these fish have clearly not been near a bed yet. Hard to reconcile that with temps, but there it is. John managed his first keeper slam today. Cool deal. Something we should all enjoy, as it's just not available most places.
  13. Dwight Keefer threw one a bit when he was with me last weekend. Not sure he caught a fish on it. The cut stick and hula stick were the best.
  14. Indeed. With 11 year old Daiwas. There's a reason I don't experiment. Only other reel I've seen that with was Okuma. Bill Richey broke a couple.
  15. I'll look for it. Know it filled up while I had company here.
  16. Ozark Thunder Marine tackle link: http://www.ozarkthundermarine.com/otm-bait
  17. Anything you say Nana Ham.
  18. Yeah, I'm not a snake fan. Even less so when I can't get away from one.
  19. It comes up here frequently, but I want to add to it. Ulrich takes care of people as much as possible. Broke that cable and pulled into Ulrich at about noon. Had to wait for Kelly and some others to get back from lunch, but as soon as that happened I was in line to get fixed up. They had the parts, got it done. Can't beat that. And they don't know me from Adam.
  20. Got that right. Went in a bush to get a bait loose. Looked over. Big copperhead on the Bush. Poof, loose pedal. Unbelievable. At Ulrich now.

  23. A skeptical type might think they were trying to hold water to generate with summer coming.
  24. As opposed to letting it come up before the rain, like last week.
  25. Gravel is the deal. Doesn't have to be straight pea. Wood is a definite plus. If you are fishing pockets, they will come and go pretty quickly.
