  1. The suspended bite in the spawning coves seems to last thru May and a week or so into June most years. High water extends the bite. It's rather early this year, go figure.
  2. Hunter91 is correct. Table Rock is 18. More importantly, riverfish, why do you ask?
  3. Excellent report--great info and tips. Thank you!

    Walleye

The points on the west side of the lower lake are larger and less steep than those on the east side. They all hold walleyes, but trolling a contour is much easier on the west side, and the fish are there in all seasons. Work both main lake and secondaries. Start your trolling season shallow, generally--10, 12, 15 feet max--clear water bothers fishermen more than it does the fish. Good luck!

    Walleye

Go west, young man! Good luck.
  6. Thanks for the update, naru.
  7. Called your limit of WHAT?
  8. Think you're a little late for that this year, sundevil. Crazy weather moved everything on the schedule ahead by about 2-3 weeks. Otherwise, yes, you should be fishing the main lake points near the dam. The cruddier the weather, the better the fishing...normally.
  9. Interesting topic. F&F, if you start trolling leadcore I suspect you'll be catching a few walleyes and of course, lots of bass along with any trout you might come up with.
  10. No, I truly believe there are too many bass in the lake. Go walleye fishing, trytofish, and I guarantee you'll catch bass. Good luck--hope you find a few eyes that get to your bait first. Let us know how you do!
  11. Target bass. They're easy to catch, need thinning, and taste wonderful. Sorry, trytofish, but I've never fished the Kings. In two weeks some of the eyes will be far upriver and some will be filtering back downstream post-spawn. Suggest that you try rigging crawlers at 10-20 feet on inside bends and secondary points in the upper half (lake portion) of the river.
  12. Bill, your openness is amazing. I don't even fish for bass, but I thank you for being so willing to share that kind of information.
  13. Even I, the Antibass, went and had a look. Good one!
  14. Just for that I'm releasing four bass to the garden next time! We all wish for days like that. Nice job!
  15. A-Rig throwers, just curious. Are you seeing a lot of swing-and-miss fish that get hooked outside the mouth?
  16. Yes, in my opinion it's too much. For a number of reasons, standard property tax is lower here than in many other states, which is nice--but they get it back (and then some) with a thousand other taxes and off-the-wall permits that don't exist elsewhere. Geez, until recently you even had to register your freakin' trolling motor!
  17. To be honest, Phil, the only area I use is the Lakes forums. Oh, I might scan outside that section for a new walleye article every 6 or 8 months, but really, all the rest is just window dressing for me. Sorry, hard-marketing-wise I guess I'm little more than a leech and a traffic stat. But I do appreciate your efforts in providing the venue, as there's much to learn from others here.
  18. Looking forward to loading up on winter droppings.
  19. Scott, welcome. I guess Mike probably didn't fish the Stockton tournaments that you did. Glad to hear you had a fun day. Did you happen to check out any retirement property while you were here?
  20. Wow, that was informative.
  21. nxs, when you say perch do you mean yellow perch or bluegill?
  22. There are walleye shallow all winter long. Somebody will catch a walleye on a suspending stickbait every day of the cold water season. And there are walleye deep all winter long. Last January we were catching them on spoons on bottom in 97 feet of water.
  23. Good answer, glennL! Billfo, there aren't any ribbon leeches in these lakes, yet they catch walleyes (and everything else too). You could probably say the same for nightcrawlers. So don't bother trying to match a nonexistent hatch--just run with it. The fish seem to know what they're supposed to eat...
  24. Well done, Straw. As the sign says, "When they finally discover the center of the universe, a lot of people will be disappointed that they are not it."
  25. 8-1/2 lbs. That's quite a fish for Stockton. Thanks for the info. There are obviously a few large walleyes out there, but Stockton doesn't seem to give them up very easily. At least not like the other lakes in the area...
