  1. Same here, same reason. I wouldn't underestimate them. The fact is that BB teams don't have the talent spread between the big conferences that FB does. Just look at the history of the NCAA tournament. They're are a lot of no name schools at the top of the list. You don't go undefeated in any division one without a lot of talent. They may go out in the first game, but so could Florida.
  2. It's light here now, but it's hard not appreciate how unusual this snow is, it's sticking to every limb here. It's quite a sight that you don't often see. Everything is so white you can't see through the woods.
  3. I would imagine if they do exist they would be hard to find in the swamp. We have a Pileated around here, but we only see it once or twice a month.
  4. Great idea. I like the flag too. Boaters on the big lakes should be aware of what any flag means. I think one could use the ski flag and argue that in a kayak you're almost in the water, close enough anyway.
  5. Glad to know he's still swimming no matter what it was.
  6. I bought some Pointers and Sammies from Japan without any problems. There were a lot more color options available
  7. My take is that going into the NCAA knowing the chances of advancing very far wouldn't be near as interesting as going to the NIT where the chances of advancing and making a run are much better. OU will probably go to the big one, but won't likely advanced very far without some favorable match ups. I would rather see them in the NIT.
  8. I like that floor hatch. Is there any kind of container in it?
  9. West side? Most of the prime spots on Beaver will be gone and you probably won't be able to stir them with a stick at what's left.
  10. While they hinted at selling it they haven't owned up to any. Making shine isn't illegal up to 50 gallons I believe. Selling it is. Remember the couple of cases they had early were destined for the party.
  11. It won't affect the fishing, but will give you more opportunity's. There will always be some who will not go, number unknown.
  12. I think if I were to venture on the lakes I would rig one of the flag poles with a small flag. Should be able to get one at a bike shop. On the places you mentioned, have fun. I would imagine the Ride would be a workout going against much current because of the length and beam, but good exercise. I used to take my 12' Tarpon up a chute on the Niangua that was pretty strong and probably 20', it would do it, but if it was 2' longer I wouldn't have made it.
  13. What a change, 30 years ago you crazy to go with anything bigger than 6, maybe 8 on the Rock.
  14. mjk86 I don't have much confidence with jerkbaits in colored water. A jerkbait doesn't have to be fished as a jerkbait and I wouldn't really consider one a jerkbait unless it's fish that way. Retrieved steady or with very brief pauses just makes them a minnow lure in my book.
  15. Same here. Maybe some people tend to fish deeper on bright days where bigger fish tend to lie or in the spring maybe nesting fish don't see well and attack with more gusto?
  16. That might be part of it Mitch, but I think it's because more and more people live in urban settings and never really see what goes on 50 miles into the sticks. I've always thought there was a different outdoor connection between people who grew up where they could fish and hunt anytime they were free of school and chores compared to those who had to be transported by adults when it could be arranged. I find some of the outback reality shows interesting, but some resemble neighbors I've had.
  17. Not me, I got use to the heat long before AC, but I can't get a handle on the cold.
  18. Reality shows collect an audience and sell advertising. They are all partially scripted, that should be a given, but finding something to mold around is different then fantasy. I was surprised at the information about the shine because they're generally more vague then that. This one won't go far because the story is shallow IMO. I liked the Mountain Men. The only one I thought might be a stretch were the guys in NC. I understand that his reason for living as a mountain man is more for the tourist he entertains. You want to watch one that seems pretty real, watch Naked and Afraid. Getting dumped off in some of the places they do with nothing but one chosen item makes my skin crawl. I can't imagine starting with nothing in the great outdoors, especially barefooted. The first one I saw was in Africa and the thorns almost had the guy calling uncle. According to the disclaimer they can get help, but it ends the show for that person.
  19. The Swamp People show had a show where the two brothers caught a gar and made gar balls, I believe that's what hey called them. I think it was like trout/salmon patties rolled up and deep fried.
  20. The only person I knew who cleaned gar was on the Grand before Truman. He used metal shears to cut the skin.
  21. The ghost would probably work for you, and at times the clown. I think the ghost is a good generic minnow color. You should have a good gold to mimic carp, especially early. The Xrap gold isn't all that gold, but the Rogue is and I'm not sure about the newer jerk baits.
  22. A redfish trip in LA would be another thought, it wouldn't be on the big water and you could recover in the Big Easy.
  23. Better than brown trout?
  24. You know the government watches over all of that and I'm sure they make sure the shovel is clean.
