  1. I agree. Trout are important to the area economically and catching trumps size. I realize there would simply be a transition time to achieve a bigger size and that would work for most locals, tourist would just go somewhere else next time.
  2. I always wonder just how accurate the information is about Taney? The lake from 65 to Bull creek doesn't seem to see a lot of boats and bank access is limited and I wonder if there aren't a lot of browns and bigger bows lying low in that area?
  3. If Missouri has two things going for it it is the fact they have the horses to beat the teams in front of them and there shouldn't be any reason for a let down. The teams left can give them decent boosts in the polls. I think the may be the underdog in at least 2, maybe 3 games, but they will be close enough in skill to make the pollsters wrong.
  4. The Government only collects about 225 billion a month, but surely they can find 24 billion to avoid the default, well if they really want to. If they want to continue punishing people for failure to hand them a blank check and falling in line, well?
  5. I don't think any person who favors the Democratic party would stand for giving a republican controlled administration a credit card with an unlimited ceiling. There's no difference in the Democrats having one. You may agree with their governing philosophy, but surely no one wants any government entity to have a blank check, Tea Party or no Tea Party? Voters need to learn to separate governing from fiscal responsibility and hold both parties more accountable.
  6. I don't think there is anything on earth that will convince healthy young single adults that they need to pay out big bucks for health insurance. It ain't gonna happen. how many on here believe they would have if the situation existed 30, 40 50 years ago? There is very little that the feds are better at than the states in most instances. The only reason they grabbed control was through the questionable Supreme Court decision on interstate commerce. The founding fathers intended the federal government to be mediator and the court decided it meant regulation in all phases. The interstate system was built as a defense project and not a federal government responsibility because of the separation. It shows how much has changed philosophically in 60 years.
  7. I've wondered about the parking situation also. I know there isn't a lot of parking at Cricket Creek for instance, or Long Creek if it's open and with people being squeezed into fewer ramps the weekends would questionable I would think. Has anyone ran into overcrowding at the public ramps that are open?
  8. Spoondog while some of your points are certainly valid, but how do they differ from state or national? If that was a big concern in the US legislature why do the not allow insurance companies to pool across state lines? Given the amount of time the administration has had in developing a web site, not to mention the millions spent advertising the start, the failure in the start is monumental. Justin my wife worked ER's and so has my son and what you say is absolutely true, up to a point because you left out adults with a headache. But here's where I think the flaw lies in sending these same people to the doctors office. The doctors don't have the resources to absorb these people and they will retaliate, and the retaliation will affect everyone. I would be afraid that rural doctors will simply retire or move to areas where they can work for the hospital. You would have a hard time believing how many people ER's have seen for headaches where people said they came in to avoid having to buy a whole bottle of Advil they won't use up! I've heard about that many times. I still contend that while the nations health care needed reform, it wasn't done intelligently because they not only didn't have the time or willingness to get professional input, according to Pelosi the supporter didn't know what they were supporting. Are you going to keep that lower insurance rate you liked so well earlier thanks to the ACA?
  9. Isn't there a guy name McCarron, or something like that in the SEC? In many years of being engrossed in college ball the one dependable thing is the inability to predict. Teams that you think will go undefeated don't, there are always some teams who do better and predictability never exists.
  10. The way you insure a balanced budget is to write the alternate budget in the amendment. With some thought I'm sure a list could be included that would automatically kill programs 1 at a time until the budget was balanced. It would easy enough to start by halving foreign aid, pork, grants that don't involve work to improve Americans well being, etc.
  11. I don't believe it would work.
  12. As an electrician I had to follow code that was law and could be complicated at times. The big difference that immediately comes to mind between it and the way the ACA is written is the fact the code is complete. There are no, "To be decided later's", in it. There are no committees to fill in the blanks. The facts that are decided don't seem too friendly, nor is the cost apparently what was expected. It will be interesting hear how those who were touting their rebate checks compare them to their cost under the ACA.
  13. Personally I think it takes 3 or 4 good teams to get a handle on a teams potential. Even a loss to good team can often be overcome, but you need to beat several quality teams to get attention in the polls.

I agree. Those playing on both sides of the ball keep finding ways to comeback.
  15. The bottom line is, IMO, the ACA is seriously flawed and needs to be replaced, but the need for affordable health care has now been set in stone. The promise has been made, just need enough honesty in DC for all interest to set down and take the time to draft a bill with a lot of professional input. The jockeying to declare a political winner is rapidly resulting in nothing but losers, some innocent and some deserving.
  16. F & F I was speaking more to the future about letting suitable organizations operate the facilities. There is no need really for the federal government to be involved in the day to day operation. Local non-profits could do a better job of maximizing the effect on the local economy. It's not a new concept. The day to day management now is done by people for a full service RV site and a small salary. This is why the government can allow it, their is nothing in the Constitution that forbids it and that is the law.
  17. I believe this is the 17th time this has happened. The only thing different now is the refusal to negotiate, I.E to allow all those elected by people to have an input.
  18. We used to fish it out past 103rd a few decades ago, about 5 actually and I was in my teens, and we caught largemouths. Never caught anything over 15" then. I'm sure it was almost as polluted there as it was below Bendix. I lived in the area for 2 years and fished it and Indian hard.
  19. I understand that the Foundation managed many of the campgrounds also until the COE decided to end it. It sounds like it would be a good plan for all the COE parks. Let the states, counties, or tourist organizations run them or non profit organizations run them. There's no reason they couldn't keep the rangers for law enforcement, but maintenance employees might have to reduce in the long run.
  20. The statement that the ACA is "The Law" doesn't carry a lot of weight in light of the exemptions and delays that the president has invoked. Mixermarkb, while big business was getting a bye, you weren't considered worthy and it was the Republicans that took exception to that I would like to hear what you cost do regarding insurance in the near future also. It sounds like Democratic party supporter, NPR, isn't reporting well if you aren't concerned. Sooner or later a majority of representatives in the legislatures have to take a stand. When you're borrowing money to pay interest something in the accounting is wrong. If are kids and grandkids are to have enough money to meet their government needs in the future, we have to bite the bullet and get this under control. It simply takes some adults who will put aside their self interests and party interest to get it done, but it will have to be done in a bipartisan meeting. Right now the Democrats are resisting a start, and not even getting to the point of rejection by one side or the other. The federal government is the same middleman we all would like to minimize wherever possible!
  21. Yup and AZ has offered to bear the cost of keeping the Grand Canyon open. Another question is how can they give back pay to federal employees when so many Americans not working for the federal government are losing money? The tourist dollars are astronomical and certainly part of the predicted harm to the economy, yet it takes very few government employees to keep it going. Who's looking out for who?
  22. I assume the state park is open?
  23. If it comes to past, Weatherbug says that the rain will be 5AM to 8AM here. The bad thing is if it's anywhere close to accurate you'll be fishing the backside of a cold, cold front.
  24. It's because of global warming, they're following the armadillos. Wait until the pythons get here!
  25. That's true, but I think sometimes they are encouraged because the blame is only along party lines for the most part. Not that the Republicans don't have their skeletons, but just that if each crisis were put in it's proper place, maybe the legislature would eventually learn act as the Founding fathers intended. If the Democrats were taking the that they deserve on the ACA they would probably want the Republicans more involved to share the blame, or in this case maybe put their minds together to create workable bill.
