  1. What do you mean by trouble? Big rocks taking heavy equipment?
  2. Ceiling fans will never out do car doors or river brush.
  3. Darn, I was going to say the Gasconade, but at first I thought maybe the Osage Fork. They all look alike to me.
  4. What about the campground hosts? Do they have to pack up and leave?

    Chiefs

I think that is ridicules. He has professionals for crying out loud, they can't be all that bad. Besides that we have Jenkins, why I'll never know.
  6. I suggested he put it here given the fact the good side of the pothole no longer exists. I know they catch a few in the James, but don't know the extent. I do know it is more assessable than BS now.
  7. I read they were going to put up barricades to keep people from using accesses that cost no money to keep open? Don't know if it's true so don't attack the messenger.
  8. I guess that is where we differ, I don't care whether the players can move to the NFL. I do know that the ratings are for a guide and are an opinion. It still comes down to recruiting and it takes some skill to get the players that will fit into the game plan. I'm disapointed that Pinkel didn't seem to cash in on the run in the Big 12. Pinkel is undoubtedly a good field coach, even and an above average one, but if he's going to compete in the SEC, he needs a good dose of 4 and 5 stars. Pinkel is fighting a tradition of a team that might not be an easy victory for OU and NU, but after being a real threat, where are the big names beyond Beckham? You have to have the big play makers to make the difference when it gets tight. IMO!! Nothing can be said to water down the fact that OU and NB with a combined population less than Missouri constantly to the Tigers to the woodshed. Neither of those teams had any advantage at the start, they built it from scratch.
  9. Of course they want to play, but are you saying that Missouri should concentrate on allowing less skilled players play on Saturday? There will always be sleepers who play for D-1 teams and then shine on Sunday, there high school grads playing on Sunday. My point was and is that being loaded with 2 and 3 star players without a good number of 4's and maybe a 5 or two is not where Mizzou should be. OB's Well White had knees that wouldn't pass the NFL physical and Bradford was still starting last I knew. So I guess you could say that after running about 47-8 for OU they were good recruits, along with the other 2 Heisman winners in that decade.

    Chiefs

Yeah I think the Chiefs will make a run a the wild card and they have a good start. Denver is probably a given with Manning. I've watched the pros for around 50 years and there has never been a better QB. Some in the past may have been his equal, but I can't think of a more accurate.
  11. They're like Spam. Has everyone noticed all the new Spam flavors? I'll have to try the flavored Vienna's.
  12. I was thinking the same thing AL. They were my goto in my younger days, but they just don't seem to taste as good now. I do eat them from time to time though. Burger's smokehouse sausage, smoked cheese and crackers are my goto now. Haven't seen that one Chief, are they as good as they sound?
  13. The James produces some walleye, but I don't know how often or whether it would be worth fishing from the shore or not. You might post on it and see if someone can help you there.

    You don't get Springfield?
  15. The old stand by area has now been permanently flooded.

    Chiefs

the whole idea is to win and there are no points for style. Can't predict the future, but Smith has been a winner as a starter and that trend continues, The Chiefs had a load of Pro Bowlers on defense and now they're not only getting some rest but they are able to come at a team playing catchup. No team wants to fight an above average defense playing catchup, they never have. The offense if making some 3rd downs and staying on the field and to date winning. They're a team in transition and it's getting harder to know where they're going because none of us has seen this team before.
  17. OTF I don't think anyone is saying Missouri is underachieving or necessarily laying it all on Pinkel. Pinkel did get a good boost at the end of the decade, but right now I'm not seeing the fruit you would expect from recruiting. I'll admit it's hard to know sometimes, but the stars that went to the NFL don't appear to have been replaced. I don't mean a few, but most. Like I said Devine always worried about just keeping his job, IMO. And again OK and NU combined don't have the population of Missouri. I simply think Missouri should have always been a threat, but they rarely were over the decades. What in the world does heart of players and team effort have to do with ranking? Why don't we just quit keeping score and call the ones who seemed to try the hardest the winners? Computers can make realistic comparisons, I don't like it necessarily, but prejudiced sports writers and busy coaches doing it is a joke. Chief I have no idea what your point is to the reference. Missing the 1 and 2 level Missouri high school players and snaring the 3rd and 4th levels doesn't help the players, not many of them will ever be NFL bound, but it doesn't help MU like the top recruits would. Look at Dorial Green-Beckham, top of the national class and helps as a freshman, but it was a big surprise that he stayed home.
  18. Can't argue with that Al. We're on the same page that past coaches missed a chance to develop a dynasty in Missouri through poor recruiting practices. I suspect the regents aren't free from guilt either when it came to supporting facilities. I attended games in Norman and Columbia around 1980 and it was like comparing a major university stadium to a state college. That when all the Big 8 schools shared income, so it had to be a shortage in the allotment of funds and/or alumni support. F&F I think in the long run it will stop some of the criticism about the fact that some teams play nothing but NCAA II teams in preseason while some tend to play the weaker teams. I don't think a lot of teams will notice much difference while others will have to step up. In the long run I think it will help. Now if they could get about 5 or 6 well written computer programs to rank strictly on strength of schedule to do the ranking and get rid of the prejudiced sports writers and the inexperienced coaches things could really level out.
  19. So you had no luck yesterday?
  20. I wouldn't call the program in disarray, but it has always virtually underachieved given the geographical location of the state. Missouri was the most populated state in the former conference, yet couldn't out do OU or NU, and NU is another state that had about 1/3 the population of Missouri that played nationally. Going to the SEC might get them some players who want to play in it, but they need to seriously step up the recruiting if they are going to be more than an also ran in the SEC, much like they were in the Big 12 and 8. 1960 Champion by default 1969, 2007, and 8 Co Champions They won in 2010, one year to stand above and it just doesn't sound right for a team that should dominate recruiting in a state where football is in every town. Saying they're getting the good 2nd and 3rd levels that are playing on Sunday doesn't mean anything on Saturday. there are a lot of 4th and 5th level players from Little U doing that.
  21. I have to agree with some of what SmallieB says and disagree with AL IMO. I think Pinkel is a good game coach, but not a good recruiting head coach. Either he has the wrong talent scouting or he is not getting the program sold. I tended to drift away from Mizzou back in the Devine days. I was also a big OU fan at the time also and realized I could see many of Missouri best by just concentrating on the Sooners. For a state in the big 8 and then the big 12 with no other major university competition to not dominate is nothing short of bad recruiting.
  22. I'm assuming they are talking clear water flows where the sucker inhabit the shallow mid river areas. The perch seem to avoid these areas, probably evolutionary insurance against herons.
  23. RC guy hope for moderate rain and no lightening. Take your rain gear and you'll almost have the place to yourself.
  24. There is still a lot of explaining to do Tim. If it's man made than the abrupt rise between 2002 and 2005 should be easy to explain?
  25. Oops, I meant on the Jacks Fork. Buffalo run in schools and are fairly common in the highland rivers, and are often mistaken for carp or drum.
