  1. I'm not a fan of braid as a do all line. It has it's uses, but overall I like P-line. For a standard mono line it's still hard to beat XL on a spinning reel.
  2. Yup It's an old mill dam butt and then the base goes across the creek. The area west of the base is pretty low and I suspect it has washed away over time. Did you hit Swan off of Casey? I haven't been up there in a few years, but it was a blast for sunfish.
  3. It will obviously help the thrust. The line on the shaft indicates no preventive maintenance and with that i mind I would check every connection and clean them up. Voltage dedicated to heat doesn't make the motor go.
  4. There isn't a lot of learning, just throw a yellow spider on the water.
  5. The 12V wires just need to be reversed.
  6. That hole at Prosperine never produced much for me, not considering how far it is. I've only fished it with bass lures though. I know the giggers hit it hard and I would imagine people camped at Mountain Creek do also.
  7. I still never pass on a chance to get out and fish an area as long as I think it's necessary. I know that isn't always possible, but in many summer holding areas the current won't allow you to really work an area, much less change lures.
  8. I would imagine some of the systems there are older than most.
  9. Way to go RM.
  10. There will be some surpriese at the Pothole once the population is established. I wonder what kind of survival rate they expect? BS has more than it's share of state records, including stripers, so I doubt any detrimental impact will happen.
  11. I like 6# P-line which is probably about 5lb diameter. I've just had great luck using P-line.
  12. Yes, you drummed that into me.
  13. My first choice for you will probably surprise many, but I would do the James. It would be important that you do the Hootentown to Marbleground stretch in order to miss the hatch.
  14. I don't know about you, get her isolated with no way out! It's probably a good thing she caught lots of fish. Really, nice trip.
  15. Good for you guys. Ollie is fun to fish with, and you don't have to believe everything he says.
  16. Nice! I'm surprised you saw that many down there though. That's such a long shuttle from Corkery and crazy from the other side.
  17. BS will always take more skill to fish because of the unstable levels. Fish on a 10' structure today might leave what's a 15' structure 2 weeks later.
  18. Does it use egg yarn?
  19. In current I think the first thing to learn is to put the stern where it will keep the bow out of trouble. It's easier to control the end you're in because it has a short turn radius and paddling back is just easier when you need quick corrections. To ferry is nothing more then controlling the stern.
  20. If you were around in the 50's you know that BS was a jewel and it wasn't really the fishing that pushed it back. Tr had 2 things going for it, Branson and a dependable level. Both were very challenging because they were so clear and that isn't what most dedicated bass fishermen were used to at the time. Then there's the state record.
  21. It looks like the FS128 is a stand up model. The problem I see real quick is 84 lbs! It would be hard to decide if it would be a better craft than a canoe at that weight? In fact there are some jons that would rival it also. It might depend a lot on where you would use it and how important it would be to stand? I have a Tarpon 12' and a 13' solo canoe and neither is something I would want to try and stand in, but a 16' canoe isn't a problem and and they weigh in at that or less. The OT Guides aren't any heavier and you could dance in the 160. You can also throw a trolling motor on them for when you get tired.
  22. The most common culprit that comes up in these cases is populated areas that were developed decades ago and they are all on septic systems, old septics eventually leak. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of it is coming from the lake.
  23. If I'm not mistaken it is a copy of the older Tarpon. Ham would be the guy to ask about that, he's very tall and has/had a Tarpon.
  24. Maybe stripers would eat some of those kentucky bass that the bass fishermen wanted reduced? So now that we know TR won't be polluted by stripers, is there any truth to the rumor about BS? I thought I had seen a 20" length limit on BS and if so that would be new and make one think they were anticipating some smaller fish. I've tried the MDC site, but as always it takes for ever to negotiate it. I wish they would find the designer of their site a job they can excel at.
