  1. Maybe I'm just there at the wrong time of the week, but you would think being down there 2 or 3 times a week I would hear something. I'm simply saying I don't think there is what I would call a "run". I know if the water is high in the winter they hit it hard and get some nice ones. I know there is a good run at Truman dam, has been for decades.
  2. I've got to get busy and unlock the secret to my local carp.
  3. I always found that as the summer goes on and creeks get more clear and shallow many fish will get spooky. They have to survive more critters than just us and they tend to know when they're vulnerable. I agree with Greasy that it's best to be subtle. A technique that should always be tried is one of doing nothing. Make you cast to a seam, with cover close is better, and then just let it drift downstream.
  4. We went in early July and about rubbed the the bottom off a 169.
  5. I've got a family rendezvous this weekend and my kin seem to be thirsty all the time. The nut got knocked off it or I would just plug it.
  6. Last year the lake was extremely high all summer. It's normal power now.
  7. Anyone know where a person might buy a drain plug unit for an Igloo in the Branson area?
  8. Shhhhh.
  9. Then you eliminate a lot of businesses most likely. It's too far for a no wake. If you eliminate the upper than a lot of winter fishing dies. As much as I would probably like it, I don't think it's feasible, or probably fair to all.
  10. I think it would be a whole lot harder to ban jet skis than people realize. I think they could put a 10 MPH speed limit on and eliminate them that way, but then everyone who runs a 225 would be up in arms. I think a law giving berth and low wake passing could be made to stick and if enforced it would probably eliminate a lot of problems. It would be a pain, but then again it isn't that far up there. 5 or 6 years ago I was fishing at the ramp below the dam and had to pull my flyline to let a bass boat, who appeared to be guiding, pass by, 3 TIMES! He was drifting the other side and didn't want to disturb it apparently.
  11. This place is pretty cheap and the flies are ok quality. http://www.bigyflyco.com/
  12. Sorry, River Run is the COE park/ramp at hiway 76 and the lake, south side. To the left is the run to Powersite dam.
  13. If you want to expand your arsenal, without going overboard, add some wooly buggers, black, olive, and tan. Some clouser minnows with grey, chartruse, and something dark wings. I would stay around size 6 to start. You won't have as much fun though as you are on top, IMO When it gets really hot the above can sometimes save the day when fished at the bottom of shoals that have some deeper water.
  14. FYI, I'm not a walleye fishermen, but I spend a lot of time around Powersite. I never see anyone trolling in the area from RR upstream. I would theink the cool water and flow would be a magnet?
  15. I'm kind of with OB. I know you're passionate about C & R and so am I up to a point, I support a reasonable use of fish that aren't threatened or likely to become so. I don't really blame Spro for not taking a side against a practice that is legal. Having said that, if your post on smallies didn't point fingers or degrade I don't understand their problem there.
  16. The fishery has always been a winter thing, as far as I know. You hear rumors at times, but never see fish in the summer. I believe what few are in the lake come in the winter for the warm water and in the spring for the shad spawn, but they are few and far between.
  17. KC when we went large gravel bars were common and people wern't. We did about 40%, 40% on our 3 day trip. Be warned we drug alot. We had Riley's Station ride with us to Rush and then take the vehicle back to his place for safe keeping. It was real reasonable and talking out at his place means very little time on the White dodging inconsiderates with motors.
  18. Well that shakes me up, I didn't think you would ever get lost.
  19. Exactly, and then given the times it did emerge in to a last word, first blink, first flinch, sort of thing.
  20. I like the Bryant, I have always gone during the week and generally don't see many people.
  21. I saw on radar a nice rain just east of me, but it didn't come through here, as usual. It apparently sprung up in Ozark county and moved east. I'm fortunate to have a lot of bermuda and it takes drought and heat in stride. It's quick to go dormant and come back quickly.
  22. Maybe you should contact the AG. He's suppose to be the peoples advocate so it might be interesting to see where he stands. It is an election year. I would think any private dams on a stream that flows year round could be questioned in this day and age.
  23. The best natural solution seems to be grass carp.
  24. I think the A rig is probably big enough to do a good job of diverting attention. I don't think you've discovered something overlooked by millions of fishermen for decades. It has long been accepted that the faster the lure moves the more you can get away with in terms of what the fish see.
