  1. This rush of what will probably be a warm runoff will change the game. My dogwoods are on the verge and one has opened, but not turned yet.
  2. If it doesn't come to fast some of it will soak in. The last I read they aren't predicting heavy rain over the area, but in spots so I guess it will depend on how numerous the spots are. Update, at 12:30 it's here and the storm looks like it could dump some heavy rain, at least on radar. This isn't the main storm so TR might get more than its share.

Yup, and he probably won't make the same mistake again soon.
  4. Tri Lakes is on the south side of 160 just pass the 4 way. They may not be in Swan yet. They've been coming in and out of the creeks. Unless you saw them being caught, they probably aren't there in any numbers. Swimming minnows are the old standby. White or chartreuse are most popular and available at Tri Lakes.

I just believe that when a team losses a big game that they should win more often then not the coach didn't prepare them or let them think they could coast. I think for the most part that's the story in all sports.
  6. I too have always heard that one the negatives to stocking them is the fact that they are wanderlust. I wonder if they eat small Asian carp.
  7. I would imagine some will vbe caught in the lower end this weekend. It will take some rain to get them over the shoal and up around Kirbyville road. They may just have what they need soon it appears.
  8. Don't get he idea that flyfishing is the only game in town. Take the kids to BSSP with their spinning rods, but on the way stop at Weavers (a little east of the upper park entrance) and buy some marabou jigs in Yellow/black, white and what else they recommend. In the park take them to the Whistle bridge and the area below the dam and let them have some fun. They can also fish the river in front of RB. If you don't keep any trout in the river no one will need trout stamps.
  9. I tried 2/10 braid and din't like it. The problem I had with it was that has little abrasion resistance because there simply isn't enough bulk to allow for much degradation. The other thing is it will seem weaker than a plastic 10# line because of the lack of stretch. If you use it you have to be as diligante about it as a #2 mono. You also have to use some restrant and control on hook sets. I just had problems with it breaking, my fault, but it wasn't worth it to me.
  10. Mitch the P line Premium is a polyp, floro coated and a thinner diameter than the other P-line's. I buy it in 1K spools and I haven't noticed any age degradation.

    Coaching, period.
  12. I've used P-line Premium for many years in #8 test on my baitcasters and #6 on my spinning rod. I think as long as you're vigilant about making sure the first foot or so isn't damaged it is heavy enough for stream smallies. The only exception is for Sammies and fall jerkbaits and then it is 4/15 TUF braid. I like the fact that it floats and has no stretch when I fish these lures.
  13. There are no docks there so that was why I wondered where an empty boat would come from.
  14. When I was a kid I was always told to find dead elms, especialy on the ground. This was north of the river.
  15. Many moons ago there was a stretch on Roaring River between the bridge and the paddle boat lake that was heavily wooded, but rarely fished because it was full of water snakes. I don't recall ever seeing a heavier concentration and any disturbance on the water from fishing would bring a few to investgate.
  16. Biologist say that a water temp in the upper 50's is the key.
  17. Strange. Where did they think the boat came from and I wonder if they couldn't see it to avoid it how they knew it was empty?
  18. No but fat bugs always seemed to work well along with poppers and the Black Ghost. The McGinty was one of my favorites and I know Fishnwrench has some favorite fat bugs.
  19. It is only the 15th and real early.
  20. I'm in the same boat with Wrench and used the glass rattles, but never saw any justification for them. I also never tested them side by side with a non-rattle. Many lures have them and some say that gives an advantage to lures without because the bass hear so many? My conclusion would be that you can only know by testing them against the same fly, sans rattle, at the same time. I would think however that less would be better because I doubt that the sounds of a crawdad are all that noticable.
  21. You couldn't tell it rained around me.
  22. The first thing I count is time on the water. I understand the concept of trophy hunting for trout, but I have a hard time understanding what the process would be on a flow?
  23. I think the man says you can only have 3, if I'm reading your post correctly.
  24. That's the most important thing. We all have our days, that's why it helps if you just like fishing.
  25. I think they get hung up in the riffles Ham.
