  1. I've had a hard time keeping tomatoes plants going all season. This year I planted in a raised garden with new soil and only planted Celebrity's and one Big Beef. So far so good, they are all healthy and going strong and the Big Beef, my first, is impressive. My only other problems have been deer in the beans and flea beetles that ravished my eggplant in spite of insecticides. I have the deer foiled with a low, tight fence that they seem reluctant to stick their heads over. The flea beetles are another matter, they seem to thrive on spray insecticides. On the theory that the dew was washing it off I have gone to Sevin dust and it might be working, unless they have cycled.
  2. You can take a big bobber or float and rig it to slip. Cast it out and pull the weight up to the bobber, then just count how many lengths of line, generally from reel to first guide, it takes to lay it over.
  3. I don't see an armed conflict or uprising. Unlike some countries we have a peaceful solution, we just have to learn to use it and start ignoring the diversionary tactic of one party against another. If the candidate representing your orefered party doesn't reflect what is inportant to you, vote the other, or don't vote in that contest.
  4. Do you have a preference between the popper and the prop lure?
  5. On the same subject, but getting a walk the dog topwater. The Sammie is an easy walk the dog lure and I wonder if it's design could be translated to a fly rod lure and still retain the "walk"?
  6. Without good reason.
  7. There have been reports that they wanted him off so that corporates could make use of the land. If that's true it should be a case for the media and the congress. I don't blame him for trying to hang onto the only source of income he knows, most of us would do the same thing. The disturbing part of the whole affair was the armed militia that convened on the scene. That is something that is and always has been foreign to this country's squabbles. Even though they are a tiny minority, they make a big splash and infect far too many minds with their rhetoric. IMO.
  8. There are a couple of private campgrounds on the Lil Niangua. I don't know the cost or anything about the water, but maybe someone can enlighten you about them?
  9. This might help. You'll notice a map link on the left side for more information.http://mdc4.mdc.mo.gov/applications/moatlas/AreaSummaryPage.aspx?txtAreaID=8103&txtAreaNm=fiery%20fork&txtCounty=&txtRegion=&txtUserID=guest&txtDivision=
  10. Great domestic dark beer, what's not to like?
  11. Hard to beat the cast iron grill on the Weber Q's for some things.
  12. I wouldn't know, I'm only 75.
  13. It does resemble TR. I'm supervised they let you do it, or did they have a say? At any rate, great job!
  14. I thought he was already on the "List"?
  15. At that age they seem to get bored when things are slow, but I have started a son and daughter and some grand kids. I always went for something that was a sure bite to start with to build their hunger, TR is loaded with Goggle eye, and all the perch family from this area. If he gets bored try changing the quarry. The second, and probably the most important, when they get bored don't push them. Let them look at the water, fiddle their thumbs or what ever makes them happy. They may get bored with that and start fishing again, this is what usually happens, but if not that should be fine also. Patience, build only happy.
  16. Onions get stronger with age and with a lack of water. I didn't plant any this spring, going to do fall, but I have never waited until the tops turned brown. I've always gone by size, if they're big enough I pulled them.
  17. Great! Great gift Glory daze, you picked the right guide.
  18. I'm leaning towards either severe cramps or a serious health problem.
  19. They resemble Anaheim's, are they similar?
  20. Just a thought, but if a clear coat would work are you trying to revive a color? Often times a lot of elbow grease with a soft abrasive, like Meguiars or Bar Keepers friend will do wonders. follow it with hard wax. I suspect you will have to call a fiberglass boat repair shop to get a price. Don't know where you live so I can't say where one is.
  21. Yeah, but you were probably using P-Line.
