  1. "Shall the constitution of the state of Missouri be amended to guarntee a legislative check on the executive power to promulgate administrative rules which are unlawful, arbitrary, and capricious, dangerous to the public, excessive or inconsistent with the original purpose of the law, with all such legislative decisions subject to the check of judicial review" I still fail to see how you, Kevin and Al, insert the MDC in this? It is NOT an executive agency, don't you agree?
  2. I'm always somewhat leery of red flags concerning the legislature and the MDC. The commission was created by the constitution and not the legislature. For the legislature to change any part of it, it woulds have to go through the people. This proposal is between the legislature and the executive branch agencies, of which the MDC is not an executive branch agency. I suspect the DU's legislative director, or whom ever, doesn't understand the place that the MDC occupies in the state. I'm no lawyer, but I don't see anything to change that.
  3. If you can't find one on Taney you don't know what one looks like.
  4. I was going by this statement? "Each regional stop the tour founder and MC, Drew Gregory, will put up a "score" that he caught in the same waters that the event is being held on the day prior to the tournament. Anyone who surpasses this total will receive 5 additional series points. "????
  5. Try Orla to B. There is also a good long hole easily reached upstream from Hull Ford.
  6. Just stay away from the North Fork.
  7. Are you wading up the old road to get to the wall? I think the new hot spot, everyone pay attention, might be where the gully at the end of the parking lot hits the water. That bank gets a good flow when the run water.
  8. I don't have any, money. Hey, I remember when the Paseo was the upper crust of the middle class. Prospect was the place to avoid. I started school around 44th and Tracy. We hung out at Grain Valley a few years back when why wife worked there temporarily and there was a murder every night in north end of the Prospect/ Troost war zone. Did I ever tell you I graduated from SM?
  9. Yup. The only snow is a few piles that aren't long for this world.
  10. You forgot Ward Parkway. I could throw in The Paseo, but they don't talk about that anymore.
  11. I fished it quite a bit at one time, but as others have said no size. I did catch my biggest on it, 18", one Nov. but about 14 was the largest before that. It has a larger percentage of frog water than mos, IMO, and goggle eyes to go with it.
  12. I always paddled up also. On most waters I fished by wading when ever possible anyway. It gives you two shots at all the prime waters.
  13. Well first off an inflatable is virtually impossible to swamp. I wouldn't worry about the inflatable, but the drunk pulling a skier. I don't know Beaver stripers, but I would have a skier flag above me if I ventured out.
  14. It sounds as if it is one water. They mention a bonus if you top the founders catch on the same water. Given the location, and maybe a need to keep everyone honest, I would guess Springfield, it's close, free, and observable.
  15. Big words coming from a Gayhawker. They fired their best coach because he was a meanie.
  16. It's probably one of the least used waters that are floatable. The only log jams I've encountered were on the lower end and they were actually downed trees that had to be portaged. It's slower than the other rivers around it and is probably described as a big year around creek. Don't go if you're squeamish about the bottom of your canoe. It's worth doing, anything from Orla down.
  17. You have to remember that there are lots of people on both coast that have a whole different idea of what life is here then what is real. Rural Missouri has been full of "survivors" as long as I can remember. It's always hard to see the forest for the trees. Some of my family goes back to 1814 and 1816 so it all looks normal to me. I always remember from the late 60's when an acquaintance of my dad had an English born wife, she told my folks that here biggest disappointment with Oklahoma was that it was hard know who were Indians. She had expected them to dress like in the films and ride horses. As far as Arkansas stereotypes, weeel I'll keep quiet. Seems like I might have heard an Arkansas joke or two if I remember right?
  18. Activism can be overdone. When a tree falls in a wilderness area no one is likely to hear it, or care.
  19. Yup, not to compare compare geography under the guise of states, there was a lot of fishing in Eastern Kansas. Anything south of 95th, by flow, was good fishing. That was before all the lakes and access were added. Take small waters, mix in boats, float tubes and bank fishermen and everybody loses. The idea of JAR was to provide fishing for urban bound Jackson and Cass county residents using small waters that could be controlled for specific fisheries. They could have left it too the hunters.
  20. I think the counties are the obvious answer. The corp should pass ownership of the ramps and parking to the county and let the county lease the campground or return it to nature. Just like any other surplus that still has value, vehicles, fire trucks, boat ramps?
  21. JAR has always been that way, long before invasive were seen as problems. Wrench is right, it was always about allowing maximum usage by a large population.
  22. Yeah, but you live on the Tundra.
  23. In past years the guides have had success on suspended Kentucky's with heavy spoons. As far as I know the technique was lifting and dropping the spoon through the school. A good sonar was obviously mandatory. There were threads on it in the TR forum.
  24. I don't have the best memory, but I don't think we have had a winter with these long below freezing periods for a long time. When is the last time we had snow on the ground for this long?
  25. I suppose it depends on who you read, but I've read a couple of articles that say a prolonged cold winter is hard on them. Some say they can only survive the cold for so long.
