  1. I haven't fished the lake in years, but a friend wanted me to go with him last week. We caught a few in the Forsyth area and only one would have nudged 12", the rest were about 9-10" fish. Is this the size they stock routinely?
  2. Unattended? Who attends to them? This is pure reprisal, nothing more nothing less. I'll bet the bank that the Taney county sheriff would say leave the ramps open, we'll respond to emergencies. When the MDC wanted to shut down all the 2 tracks in the Beaver creek bottom because they couldn't respond to trouble he said just that, "Call us", the MDC dropped the plan.
  3. Like it or not and as silly as it sounds, the Democrats forced the Republicans into this. Think about it, The bill is passed with no input from the Republicans, the author of the controversial bill says it is a train wreck, the American people consistently poll in opposition to it, Obama himself starts exempting some sections affecting only certain groups, and congress exempted everyone near and dear to them and when the people were outraged they reversed it, but gave them a 75% subsidy. How could the Republicans sit by quietly and then say they are a different party in the next election cycle? The Democrats built it and they own it and they shouldn't be surprised that the opposition party wants to point out no one wants to fly in it, much less ride in it unless they are the few that are guaranteed no negatives.
  4. The biggest problem with federal employees is the same thing as with union shops only worse. You have a group that over achieves, a bigger group that does their job as intended, and then a group that works at their own pace with no concern for productivity. In a union shop it's hard to fire any in that group, but in a federal job it's impossible. It's also hard to know how many other workers they drag down with them. I was there for awhile and the majority did their job, but it was disheartening to watch some get the same pay for very little.
  5. I agree with flysmallie about Fellows. The civilized side is long and with lots of access. You might want stay with weedless lures though. Any Texas rigged plastic, spinnerbaits, weedless jigs, etc should give you lots of options.
  6. Yeah I would imagine that we will also have to spy on each other while the NSA is on furlough.
  7. I'm not so sure you can compare the Great Lakes with our local waters. There's a lot more room in them for some diversity than in Taney for instances. Every creature has to consume something to survive and when a new one is introduced the balance goes out of the ecosystem. I would hate to find that one of our important links in the chain is gone and can't be replaced. On the good side it seems to me that the native mussel population is miniscule to what it once was and maybe what ever has depleted them will ward off the zebras.
  8. I'm not sure why there is any reason to be grateful to people for in the government? They are better jobs than anyone in the private sector has and in no way should be compared to military service. At one time they traded job security for lower wages, but that is no longer the case and now the perks are over the top for many. there are thousands of people in the private sector who have lost their jobs and many because of government actions, so no sympathy from me. It seems anymore that there is only a crisis if union members or federal employees lose some traction. Save your sympathy for the vet waiting for action from the VA, whose employees are getting bonuses for non performance.
  9. Bottom line is the government, on our behalf (?), spends more than we can make and needs their credit card limit increased. Nothing more, nothing less.
  10. You don't understand how it works. If you work for the government the common people insure that you get a paycheck as long as they are working. This goes against all that right, not to mention that someone might question what they have been doing given the fact nothing piled up on their desk while they were gone. I think that's a big fear for many. The 60-70% doing the work are going to be missed and the others might have to pick up the pace.
  11. Obamacare is a disaster, even the author called it that. The good thing about it is that the Republicans can't eliminate it without a replacement. The chance for a truly workable bill is now. With the houses split a workable compromise bill should be possible, the only obstacle would be harry Reid who believes he is "THE SENATE". Obama would jump on a bill that worked, didn't give Republicans all the credit and that he signed into law during his reign. Lets face it not a day goes by that some new misrepresentation doesn't arise. The lowest cost insurance is going to cost 5K plus before anything is paid by the plan, at least according the news and no one seems to dispute it. There are too many not in the overall plan to keep it viable. The idea that pre existing conditions would covered requires people paying and not drawing out with some balance and ity doesn't appear the balance is there after all the exempted parties opt out.
  12. Well it might be too late to worry about it. By the time the illegals vote, plus all the unidentified the only representative branch will be the house. When people get mad at the Republicans and the house is Democratic they will just seal the deal. The no voter ID is undisguised fraud to anyone with common sense or it should be. Beyond it is just blind loyalty. Saying there is no need because there is no fraud is like saying you don't have money missing from a retrieved wallet if you never knew what was in it. It's the same with fighting to keep Obamacare intact. It's the cruise ship that can't be repaired and the captain and the crew are going to fly to the next port, along with selected friends. Buckle up your life vest.
  13. I suspected there was some in the Pothole 3 or 4 years ago. When a fish would run through one area the line would part without any warning and remind you of what a razor blades would probably do.
  14. Oh Champ now your getting technical. It cost a lot of money to keep those ramps open.
  15. The Bull is the better walleye lake and the upper end might be more like the structure you're used too.
  16. I would rather see something along the lines of one term for all but the house and allow them 2 terms. The quick turn over in the house is suppose to be advantages in reflecting constitutes needs and I would be afraid they wouldn't have time to be effective in one 2 year term. The offset terms and length of senators was thought to offer an advantage in passing laws. Along with it they should all be prevented from giving themselves immunity from any law they pass. What is missing today is the responsibilities of the two houses. The founders wanted the laws to be the senates responsibility while the house took care of the check book. then the terms would better reflect the needs of the people, but instead they have both gone to multiple terms and want to do the others job.

Yeah and I'm sure Smith had some input so time will tell i guess. Avery is doing a pretty good job of making them pay for double teaming Bowe.
  18. No luck if you have the room the oil heaters work great in RVs. You can leave them on low and keep the wall reasonably warm and then use the furnace for quick rises.
  19. What aggravates me is that they don't allow you to continue working with pay coming when the money is appropriated. They won't do this because they want the citizenry to suffer, even though they won't miss a beat. They are juvenile at best. I'll add that in all the years that these standoffs have occurred i don';t ever remember one side ever saying no compromise until now.
  20. The government tells us to save for a rainy day, yet they can't last a minute without borrowing a paycheck. Then they blame us and send us to the corner without any government services. It's kind of funny when you think about it, especially given the fact that after the smoke has cleared everything will be the same.

I hear you, but surely there was draftee somewhere that could replace either of them. I realize they think Jenkins will come around, and maybe Smith had some input, but I don't think I've seen him catch a ball.
  22. I had to laugh at the statement "First time in history", after 17 someone should study up on American politics. The debilitation of the sequester is still fresh in everyone's mind and I hope we don't have people jumping from windows like in the 20's?
  23. I've found over the decades that you can catch a decent amount of fish on dries, IF, you can move along the stream. It seems anything in 16-18 range somewhere in the Pale Dun to Adams look will catch some fish hatch or no hatch. I've also found that the Gnat and the olive EHC will generally work also, but maybe not as consistently as the others.
