I'm looking to buy a my father a left handed baitcaster. I would prefer one I could pick up locally in the Saint Louis area. Would be interested in a Citica or Curado, or something similar. Let me know if anyone has one and how much they would be willing to take to part ways with it. I have a question regarding regulations on several of the MDC's Urban fishing areas. Recently they were stocked with trout for the winter and have special regulations in place - Trout permits are required if trout are kept. Trout may be taken by pole and line using all types of lures and baits under statewide limits, except during the dates listed below. Nov. 1 - Jan. 31: Catch and release only for trout Flies, artificial lures and unscented soft plastic baits only Only 1 pole may be used. Use of chum is prohibited. Feb. 1 - Oct. 31: You must stop fishing for all species after having 4 trout in possession. Does this mean even if I am bass fishing, I am not allowed to use scented plastics, correct? Also, it means only one pole can have its line it the water at a time - I can carry two poles, but only use one at a time? Sorry if these are stupid questions, just want to make sure I'm playing by the rules.

What's your presentation usually like with the marabou jig? I've had a little success with them, but i"m not as confident as I am with a spoon.

What separates a zig jig from a normal Maribou Jig?

What's everyone's favorite lures to use on spinning gear? My personal favorite is the Thomas Buoyant Spoon. Seems to catch em everytime.

Isn't a lot of this mortality due to the nature of the spawn? Don't a lot of browns die naturally after spawning similar to the Atlantic Salmon. Don't get me wrong I'm sure some of these fatalities could be due to humans but is it not also part of the lifecycle as well?

The MDC Urban Trout Stocking program will begin shortly as well. You can see all of the ponds they stock in Saint Louis on their website. I personally don't have the time to make any trips to the parks/rivers right now so I am thoroughly excited about chasing after some trout right here in Saint Louis.

I just think its getting a bunch of calls by guys like us looking for trout. The message still is the catfish stocking from 8/28. No details on the trout yet.

Well I recently bought a used Porta-a-bote to get myself off the shore, and I figured with the weather this weekend it would be a great time to finally test it out on the water and spend some qaulity time with my daughter. We went to Simpson Park in Kirkwood, here in Saint Louis. The port-a-bote is pretty cool little dinghy, folds down to about the size of a surfboard, and can take up to a 5hp outboard motor. It seemed very stable on the water and moved pretty well with the trolling motor. My daughter had a great time. Dad didn't catch anything but "junk" fish but my daughter could have cared less. She just like seeing the big fish! I did think it was odd though, I caught several carp on a crankbait? a couple were foul hooked but one had it right in his mouth. Coincidence?

Anybody have any exact dates on when the city ponds will be stocked with trout? I know it's early november but I didn't know if anyone had the inside scoop on exactly when. Thanks!

Sound advice from captain obvious... Mike, I like that minnow above the tick as a buzzbait and spinnerbait trailer. I really liked that charcoal color you did for me, it produced very well. I love grubs, so I'm sure that one would do well. Have you ever seen a bait called the mega miki- that produced very well for me this summer. It's a large worm with a cupped tail.

Yeah, I hear you Plug... I fish a public pond that is maybe 5 acres, and there are always these guys sitting and catfishing in one of the corners with about 3 poles a piece and give you a dirty look or say something to you if you cast to close to "their corner". It's a public place, I'll respect your area a little bit, but you can't occupy an entire corner of a pond.

Today when I was out fishing I was having some success with a squarebill crankbait. Each of the bass I caught were hooked in the same spot - right on the nose. It was weird though because it was on the outside, not the inside, almost like they were just hitting it with their mouth shut, and not neccesarily trying to eat it. I won't complain b/c I was catching fish, but I feel like if I changed the retrieve up a little they might inhale it better. Who knows though maybe it was just the mood they were in. Anybody seen this before?

I don't want to hijack the thread, but I was hoping some of you more experienced anglers could answer a question for me. I'm typically fishing from shore, so I don't have much experience fishing offshore and lakes with thermoclines. Basically what your saying is that you are targeting the bottom areas that are at the 18-22 foot depth range, or if they are suspended - open water areas in the 18 to 22 foot range. If I were fishing a 45degree slope, I would want to target the section of the slope that hits the desired depth, correct? If I were dropshotting for suspended fish, would I have the weight on the bottom say 24 feet , and the hook 3-5 feet up? Thanks for any help. I appreciate any knowledge you are willing to share.

Good post RPS. Sweet and tangy sauces are the best. My favorite side is one my Grandmother used to make all the time. Squash Zucchini Casserole Slice up both squash and zucchini in thin slices, saute in some olive oil and garlic. Drain the moisture and place into a baking dish. Season with salt and pepper. Cover with mozzarella cheese, then top with an Italian Breadcrumb and melted butter mixture. Bake until golden brown and gooey.
