  1. My cousin went down to the Devils River 2 years ago and made a great video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3Xyn9FiI9g For sure on the bucket list
  2. How do you fish a wooly worm?
  3. When I smallmouth fish on the river it is with a Fish Doctor 99% of the time.
  4. You probably will!
  5. I'm another fellow west county trout addict
  6. Check your messages.
  7. Fished there twice very hard and only saw one little trout. Doesn't seem worth the effort.
  8. Well there goes next weekend's fishing plans...

    9/15 Tan Vat

That's great to hear. I'm planning on fishing the same way next time I go down there in late September

    9/15 Tan Vat

Were you fishing a dry? Did they take yours?
  12. Arrived at Tan Vat about 6:30. Only car there, not to bad for a Sunday. Started with a big streamer trying to get a nice brown but no luck. Then tried nymphs, rubber legs, little streamers and nothing produced. Then noticed a nice brown looking up and the only dries I had on me were leftover hoppers from my trip to the White. First cast, the brown came out and drilled it. Decided to keep the hopper and caught a few more browns and a really nice rainbow. After the sun came out a THICK hatch started (assuming it was tricos?) and not a whole lot of fish were rising, but when one was, it was rising once every 4 or 5 seconds. Went back to the car and looked for some small dries (I didn't have any tricos) and I threw every dry fly I had. Cracklebacks, elk hairs, griffiths gnat, and a few personal patterns. Didn't get a single bite. Couldn't believe it. Decided to throw and big Madam X and finally got a rainbow. Caught a few more on an egg and missed and 18+ inch rainbow. Got crowded and called it a day. Not a bad day but not great by any means.
  13. Is that an Allen reel I see? Jealous!

My personal best is a 17". However, my dad has caught both a 20.5" and a 23" but he has fished waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy more than most

Caught lots of rainbows on PT's and midges. Few browns but no browns on the hopper

    Hoppers

Heading down to the white this weekend and plan on getting in on the hopper bite. Any good patterns/suggestions I should give a shot. Bringing my boat so not worried about wadeable water.
  19. I believe Michigan has the most variety for fly fishing in the States
  20. Another thing about scuds is that I HATE adding a split shot to my tippet.
  21. Thought it was a brown until I brought it to hand. My friend lives up there and that was the largest one he had seen out of that river.
  22. Went up to Michigan and had about the same luck as you. 14" Brookie was spectacular experience
  23. In all the times of fishing at Taneycomo, I have caught one trout on a scud and it was hooked in the belly. Whatever, i'll stick to big ol' streamers ;0
  24. There is also another place on the Huzzah that holds trout. The owner of Westover, a friend of mine, told me about it. Looked in the rain for a while and all i found was a dozen dead pigs. Why someone would leave dead pigs right next to the parking lot is beyond me
  25. Was it hot that day? Because it got very hot when I was fishing and all of the fish I saw were hugging the bottom and didn't look like they were going to take anything I threw at them.
