  1. Yea flyflinger we were there just for the day. This happened at dusk when we came upon the punks. We Did the small float. Trust me,I know a little about the drunks down there. I'll give a little example. When you pull-up at sunrise to get out and launch the yak your greeted by a man who tells you in a slurring voice, "WWWWhhhhhatsss up" and then you notice this guy has nothing on but a beer in his hand! There were all kinds of people around there too that day including kids. And they always leave behind TRASH! I wish GRDA would patrol that somehow.
  2. I was there 2-3 weeks ago and my neighbor got his windshield smashed in! Thanks for the update, thinking about floating it real soon.
  3. You know it. Where the famous Drum was caught! lol
  4. Ok Davy, yea, I went to school with her and her husband Phillip. Good people. Remember, I live here in Neosho about three blocks away from Hickory. Yes, Leonard does have a point. I have caught fish out of there before in July, but I always wondered if it was a fluke. There are alot of things that need to happen first to make that a decent fishing stream. Ten years ago I could fish it and actually catch a smallie or two, but now I'm lucky to catch a bad bacteria. The town has let the stream go downhill and I don't think they really care. That stream is nothing more than a big toilet for the whole town. Sorry, but that is the way I see it right now. Only my opinion. I know, I should quit my b****ing and do something about it! Sorry, just had to rant a little.
  5. Sorry Phil, not where I was at but, give us more idea and maybe someone knows. On Elk? Because there is one on the mouth into the lake somewhere but then again, I couldn't tell you the name of it right off hand.
  6. I don't know how much of this will be accomplished but, I am all for people like the outfitters and NPS getting together and trying to resolve some issues that have gone on waaaaaayy too long on many of a river.
  7. Which part Wayne. The vandalism or the fish? Fish caught on Mo side and vandalism on OK side. You know where.
  8. Tbird? You talking about Dave? The hatchery manager? Anyways, you nailed that right Davy.
  9. I caught a nice greenie down there on Sunday, but the whites haven't make it upstream yet. Let me warn everybody of the dangers of leaving your car parked on a gravel bar - KIDS VANDALIZING!! My neighbor and I left his car at the takeout and when we came around the bend we caught two kids trying to bash in his windshield. We chased them about two miles before we could get their license plate number. Senseless acts of violence from bored teens. I have never had any problems down there and the first time I get my neighbor to drive he has problems. To make matters worse, he lost a greenie that was around 6-7 pounds and that was his only fish on all day.
  10. Everything fishing is like a preference thing for most. Me, I wouldn't go near a shimano spinning reel, but if you do then ok. I like my Falcon rod and Daiwa spinning reel for my set-up.
  11. You would like Beaver if you haven't been there yet. Plenty of oportunities to wade when no generation and the scenery is second to none. Of course the key to any tailwater is hitting it just right to wade fish. You could always drive to RR if they are generating power though.
  12. I know where I'll be this weekend!
  13. Tell me for sure that was a largemouth and not a kentucky your talking about.
  14. Go get'em goat killer!! Happy B-Day
  15. If your tying with marabou then it will look slim. Don't worry about them looking good to YOU. Mix it up some and try different things. I tie a lot of mine with dubbing for the body and then bou, rabbit, or squirel for the tail.
  16. I thought I read in the Daily that the city was going to clean-up most of it, or at least the part in town. They just got through cleaning up the Big Spring Park last week.
  17. Good, glad to hear someone took this boat. Sounded like a good deal.
  18. Ok, didn't see the conection. Sure, shoot me a time or date.
  19. Yep, drove by the other day. Looks like crap! Like I said, we need a good rain to wash it down. Altough I did hear a rumor that the city was going to clean out some of the park or at least where those pics were taken which is by the ball fields.
  20. ollie

    trout?

I definetly would wait for a good 'ol gully washer before I attempted Shoal or Hickory. They are a mess with trees down everywhere. Would be hard to cast around that's for sure. Good flood would help wash all that down.
  21. Well, nobody ever accused me of not being an opportunist! I won't ever divulged spots on the creek over the net, but if you hook-up with me I can show you a lot of places around here.
  22. Throw in plenty of adult beverages and I might, might be game.
  23. Ok, lets get something straight right now. I have fished this creek for at least 10 years in a row and have never seen any big fish except about 5 years ago. Never will forget that one either. Big brown surfaced about 10 feet from me twice and then disappeared. The biggest I ever caught there was 16", but many people have told me of bigger fish they had seen or seen caught. I am still in denial of what happened today. Never will I say anything about Capps again regarding size EVER! The day started out pretty cool. Cloudy and overcast all day with little wind to none. Cold front coming in tonight I think with a chance of rain. Perfect conditions to fish I thought. Man I am still STOKED! Walked quite a ways down stream until I found lots of stocked fish and went on to catch several with the biggest being 14". I counted at least a dozen in about 2 hours that I C&R. BTW, all fish where C&R today. I walked a long ways to get to what I wanted also. After catching the stockers and seeing lots and lots of ducks I walked back up to the truck. It was about 1:30 now so I decided to fish upstream and if you want specifics you will have to pm me. Ginger is the color I have been into big time this year. Last year I wouldn't go to it and this year it's all I start out with. Let's see, I watched two hawks hunting today when no one was around. I got "spooked" by an Armidillo. (I wish they would go back to Texas) And I caught two LARGE trout. Oh yeah, i did catch two nice fish within 30 minutes of each other. Ok, I have caught some nice fish at RR and caught 4 twenty inch plus fish in one outing, but nothing could compare to what happened today. When you catch two fish over 20" in a little creek like this it makes you wonder if there can be any better. Two fish within 30 minutes of each other I might add. Two fish over 20", did I say that already? I am still in awe as I write this. First big fish was a brown that measured out at 21". After reviving this fish for around 15 min. I let it go without any problems. I went on over in the same hole and then caught a 20" rainbow. I don't know if I will ever catch any fish like this again down there, but it is truly a trip worth a lifetime for me or anyone else. Why is it you never have a camera when that happens, but you have one when nothing happens?
  24. Just read an article in the local news yesterday and the DNR stated that 4 or 5 local streams are loaded high in E-coli bacteria. Shoal Creek, Capps Creek, Indian, Hickory, and I can't remember the other one. Anyways, I knew Shoal had it bad in some places and I definetly knew Hickory had it's problems, but I would have not guessed Capps at all. I am guessing that a high E-coli reading is mainly from farm run-off? I generalize the words "farm run-off" to include many different agriculture operations. So how is classifing these streams as impaired going to effect me?
  25. Let us know how it goes. I was thinking of heading down there myself on Sunday if it's not too terrible outside. Oh wait, I have to do clean-up of the ice storm. Maybe I can talk the warden into it!
