I'm gonna second Champ on using Rob with Fall Creek. Here's a few of the warts he did for me last winter. I don't have any pics handy of them used but he does very quality work.

Sorry should have specified. It's Sportsmans Factory Outlet. It's connected to the Lew's warehouse. Pretty nice local tackle store that beats going to Bass Pro...only problem is they aren't open on weekends.

+1 Picked up one of their swimbait/a rig rods a couple weeks ago and it's stellar. Handles the bigger baits very well...plus they're local. Head on into Sportmans in Springfield and I'm sure they'd be happy to show you all the variations they've got.

One of my buddies is on Pickwick right now and was throwing one earlier today. He was doing pretty well with it. Saw one pic of a 6 to 7 that whacked it. I was there at the end of May for a tournament and threw a regular chatterbait and the new rage blade quite a bit. The problem with the rage blade is it rises in the water column too quickly for my liking. You can't keep it in the strike zone long enough. I'm gonna have to try one of those piranha ones.

Yeah that day I was using a 4 inch white silver flake swim senko. Went with that to keep the size down. Only problem is they only last 2 or 3 fish since they're so soft.

I was surprised at how well it worked out. I figured the water was too clear but the fish loved it. I tried the 3/8 and 1/2 oz both in white with a few strands of smoke on the bottom and the 3/8 seemed to produce more bites. There's just something about the vibration I've noticed that gets it bit more than a 1/2 oz on most places I've fished it.

I was up there Thursday and threw one for a little with no luck just followers. After throwing several other shad imitations with no luck and a few follows I had a chatterbait tied on an extra rod so figured might as well. Three casts later I found out that's what they wanted. Had 14 fish from 8-noon. Biggest was about 4 with only three shorts. All fish came from about 2-4 feet of water also and they were just crushing the chatterbait. The other thing though was the weather was set up pretty good for them to stay shallow most of the day so I'm gonna say that's why they were up there then.

No not much finesse haha. If I can get anything going I'll make sure to take some pics and post them here.

So how do you think the new Magnum Spoon will do at TR? Got them to fish TVA lakes with but figured I'll see if I can't get anything going down here with them. After waiting a month since I ordered them they finally arrived today.

I've been trying to fish the swing jig more and more as the situation allows. Fished it Wednesday and was getting quite a few bites on it with a creature. One thing I've started to do is throw a big 10"+ worm on it. Depending on the brand of worm it will sit almost straight up in the water like when rigged on a shakey head. Another thing I prefer is the ones that you can change the hooks out on. The more expensive ones like Chomper's and the Hard Heads don't allow you to do that. I've even started throwing swimbaits on them from time to time.

Don't worry about it ha my dad ended up taking care of it for me. Anyways since everyone is on the subject of stripers...I'm actually from Arizona and the lake closest to home back there has definitely been effected by stripers. That lake is called Lake Pleasant. The AZGFD did not introduce them to the lake. They came down the river from Lake Mead from everyone that I've talked to. I was there just last week and fishing a different lake with a friend who is a guide. He tells me that every year the spawn just dwindles more and more. The ever changing lake levels at that particular lake don't help but the stripers definitely aren't doing the LMB any good. They eat up a large majority of the forage which is threadfin. It has gotten to the point in the last few years there is no limit on stripers because they have became such a nuisance.

Do any of you guys have any input on a good taxidermist in the Table Rock or Springfield area? I'm looking to get a reproduction done. Thanks for any input.

Is this for the Cape Fair Wednesday Amateur Tournament or another tournament also going on out of there?

Well after some encouragement from other members in another post I decided I'd make my first report since I am out pretty often right now. If any of you have suggestions or questions feel free to let me know but I'll try to be as detailed as I can. I've been out this week everyday but Tuesday and Thursday, including last Friday and Saturday, mostly to see how the Elites were approaching this part of the lake, launching out of Cape Fair. I picked up a bunch of old warts and got them custom painted by Fall Creek and wanted to learn to fish them as effectively as I could teach myself because I have never thrown a wart before. Last week and the early part of this week with the weather consistently warming I was on a pretty good bite boating between 15-20 fish per trip. I didn't get anything over three on any of those days and probably about a quarter or a little less were keepers. Also the majority of the keepers were just over 15 inches. Yesterday, Friday, my bite was a little different. Yesterday I boated 14 and had as many keepers as I did shorts. Had two bigger keeps being in the three pound range. The difference with yesterday compared to all the other days is my retrieve speed. I had to speed up my retrieve a bit more than the previous days I had been out. Today, with little to no wind and blue bird skies, I knew the bite would be slower but I wanted to give it a whirl anyways because I only had 3 hours to fish and knew I could still get on a few. Ended the trip with 8 fish. The surprising thing about today was 6 of them were keepers and the best 5 would have went for about 13 pounds according to my scale. I caught my first 2 the same exact way so I started taking more time concentrating on those areas. The fish were all sitting in cuts on the creek arms. I had to be cranking it just fast enough for it to be grinding the bottom. I was only concentrating on 3 areas all days until today. Two of the creeks were up river from the marina and one was down river. Today I wasn't having as much luck on my first spot up river so I started going back down the James trying to find a bit of a breeze and ended up hitting two other creek arms I hadn't tried in the last week. The key to the all days but today was around 45 degree banks with timber nearby. Today, the fish were all on banks that were less than 45 degrees, being a bit more flat, also having timber nearby. Had the boat sitting in 10 feet today making casts at a 45 degree angle toward the bank to cover different depths. Like I said before I was committed to chunking the wart. I figured the bass were sick of seeing all the reds and oranges so I have been mostly throwing phantom green and PB&J which I threw all day today. Hope this helps people who are interested. I will try to remember and take some pics when I am out from now on to show you guys on here.

Cody I'm in the same boat as you. I moved here not too long ago and have only been fishing here a year and fish the Cape Fair tournaments with my dad whenever we get the chance. I'm on here about everyday but don't really contribute much...which I probably should start doing considering I get to Table Rock at least 3 times a week now. But thanks to all the great posts on here for being so informative and specific about things. I'm sure without this board I'd have caught at least half the amount of fish I have by now.

For the ones I'm getting repainted I paid 8 bucks for. The NIB I paid 15-25 for.

For those of you interested in picking some up this weekend, I was at the hunting and fishing expo in Springfield and there are a couple guys there with a booth selling them. Ended up leaving with more than a handful of them from still in unopened boxes to ones I'm getting repainted. If you're in the area and looking I'd recommend dropping by the expo and seeing them.

Will Corps Launches Remain Open If There's A Shutdown?
tse90 replied to Quillback's topic in Table Rock Lake
Launched out of cape fair yesterday morning and what was said above was true. They have made their own ramp and it is up for use. The corp has not put anything in front of either of their ramps so they are still accessible and a few people were using them. If you choose to use the corp ramps I was told you can get a ticket but heard nobody has gotten one just yet. -
After reading this post I had to give it a try this morning and had some pretty good luck. Ended up with the biggest smallie weighing a bit over 4. Had to get off the water early around 930 but that bite is great. Just hang on once you feel your jig drop over a limb because they're there to eat it.

Just got home from Fin and Feather in Springfield for the first time. Went in there to replenish my grub supply and get a few other things. They have the smoke with red flake in stock but only have a few bags left in each of the 10 pack and the 100 pack. Met John and he was a very nice guy who knew his stuff. If you're in Springfield I would definitely go there first before anywhere else.

Well this is my first post. I've been reading all of your posts for about 2 months now and trying to take it all in without forgetting too much when out on the water. Thanks for all the great posts and information though. Anyways I launched out of Aunt's Creek today a little before noon. Fished through Little Aunt's for a bit with hardly any luck. Decided to try some points for a bit and that got me on some fish. Ended up with 14 fish with 3 keepers in 3 hours. Caught several on a pumpkin colored shakey head then decided to give the Ned rig a run for its money. It was unbelievably good and caught 11 of the fish with it. Used a pumpkin with red flake senko on a 3/16 oz jig. Biggest fish of the day was a 4 lb smallmouth. Got off the water just after 3 because I was afraid it might rain and the wind was starting to pick up and the bite died off after that. Water temp was 57. Boat was sitting in about 25 feet casting into about 10. Majority of fish came out of the 15-18 foot range. Hope this helps some of you because I know reading your posts definitely have helped me.
