  1. welcome to the lake dompeters, i'm up at the 5mm so i don't get down that way much anymore, but i'm sure the fishing is just as good there as it is on the rest of the lake, i think your close to tan-tar-a (maybe) and i used to tear up the bass and crappie in that area years ago, i'm sure you'll do fine.
  2. hi earl, i went on facebook and couldn't find that page. are you sure it's lake of the ozarks crappie guys? thanks
  3. thanks for the info phil, if i can get down this weekend i'll give these tips a shot. should be nice for a few days if the weather people are close to knowing what they are doing....
  4. thanks to everyone, especially fishinwrench. i like the idea of picking one cove and working it over. i will do that the next time i'm down. i'm always willing to accept and try any tips and suggestions and also always grateful for the help from eveyone. for the thousands of people that fish lake of the ozarks it is difficult to find good up to the minute information about it (except for this website, of course) you would think there would be more info available.
  5. So I spent 3 days last weekend enjoying the amazing weather and bass fishing in the gravois arm and around the 2-3mm on the main channel. I don't hardly fish in the winter at the lake so i'm still learning a lot. i threw a chompers jig in brown, a pointer minnow jerkbait and a spinnerbait. i worked the points (main and secondary) , i worked around a lot of docks that had brush with the jig, i went to the backs of coves and I also targeted 45 degree banks with rock that were in the sun for the most part of the day, i fished shallow and deep and i didn't catch a single fish. can anyone tell me what i was doing wrong, it's OK, i can take it. i loved being out on the water but it would be nice to have some bonus fish. i'm sure a lot of bass were being caught, just not by me. thanks for the feedback
  6. Alhonna Resort close to the 8MM has pontoons to rent. Last season they were 375.00 for 8 hours for a 24' tri-log. They're pretty good people and they will probably give you an even better deal if you do a multiple day rental.
  7. i'm not sure, i'm heading down for the weekend but the weather is supposed to be well above freezing so i don't think the ramps should be a problem.
  8. nice bass, almost makes it worth freezin your butt off.
  9. hey fishinwrench.....don't sugarcoat it, tell him how you really feel
  10. enjoyed the video dman, you and your nephew might want to put a pair of fishing gloves on your Christmas wish list.....
  11. i'm not sure what to tell you, besides this forum it is very hard to find current updated fishing information about LOZ. there's a ton of sites out there if you google LOZ fishing reports but nothing is ever up to date. surprising that there is not good up to date information out there with so many people that fish it. the weekly conservation report is a joke
  12. I know what you mean what with the extra big boats, the heat and such. I had a blast fishing for the large carp that I can see in between my dock and the shoreline. I don't have to go out on the lake and I can fish in the shade. They fight like crazy and you can get into some big ones. It's more for something to do, I don't eat them, just C & R.
  13. don't keep me in suspense.......has he said how and what he is catching them on yet?
  14. you'll have to google that to find out. i think iguana water sports rents boats but i'm not sure about fishing boats. it will be a lot cheaper to bring your own plus you can fish out of something your familiar with.
  15. wow 405z06, lighten up, i would take those numbers anytime, and so would anyone else. you don't have to catch monsters everytime you go out. good job teddy
  16. wharfrat, have you heard what the latest crappie report has been? i stay up at the 5mm of the main channel and i will be fishing that area later today, i haven't found too much help on what the current pattern is for crappie. water temp at the 5mm is 52 degrees and i heard the water is pretty clear. good luck i think the weather should be great for the next week.
  17. thanks for that very important info dennis. if you don't mind the questions, i have a couple. i was out this afternoon and i only caught about 10 crappie and they were from 7 feet and deeper also a few of them were smaller fish. i never found water warmer than 47 degrees. i fished from halfway back to the back of the coves. i used a road runner also but it was white. do you think my biggest problem was not using the right color? are you in the backs of the coves? thanks for the info
  18. i went out at late this afternoon at the 5 MM of the north shore. i caight 4 nice ones on a road runner tipped with a crappie nibble but i thought it was pretty slow. i caught them all in deeper water, maybe 6-8 feet. my neighbor said they were up along the bank but i didn't find any shallow. maybe tomorrow, it's supposed to be a nice day, but windy.
  19. did you see any damaged docks from the ice? i haven't been down in a while to check mine. i feared ameren might have dropped the water while the docks were suspended in ice a few weeks ago.
  20. you could call a real estate agent in the area and ask them about the area or knock on a couple of doors in the area. i've had questions on properties at the lake before and the local (stress local) real estate agents were always helpful.
  21. glad for you to get out wharfrat, please explain what a stake bed and porcupine are. thanks
  22. i'm not sure how accurate it is but recently i was reading my "lake alert" email and it said that some parts of the lake were 6-8 inches thick, pretty amazing, i've been going down there for 45 years and don't recall ever having that much ice
  23. I was looking around and found the Bassin Bob website that is promoted with Robin's Resort. It seems to be entirely about LOZ. Does anyone have an opinion on whether it is worth it or not to pay 45 bucks for a pro prescription? There is also a free prescription but it doesn't seem to give you any real help or information. Thanks
  24. never watched it but i don't see how any dvd could be worth 20 + shipping. there's no need to rip us off, even 10 bucks would be too much for me.
  25. i think most brands are pretty good, i would go more with price instead of maker, just my opinion. i was at bass pro today and there is a big sale coming soon, keep an eye out for all the spring sales soon to be happening. google is a good source to find reviews along with most sellers websites.
