  1. Thanks for that detailed report. Clearly, you have that spoon presentation down to an art. Catching those big whites sounds like fun, but I always release the fish, hoping that She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed will agree to a steak or cheeseburger:)
  2. That is not too bad for a short window - and it was a pretty day to be out there. When the bite isn't distracting us we get to enjoy the fall colors;)
  3. This bass did have a sore on her back near the tail and was pale in color. I guess she has been in deeper water but was caught in 22'. Thanks, but not interested in any notoriety or fishing for money. Fortunately I have been blessed and all my fishing can be C&R. That big girl was back in the water in minutes, swimming away strong. That particular green lady is my Personal Best for this lake and I sure would like to catch her again someday. I sometimes worry that too many of our big bass get hauled a long way down the lake.
  4. We fished Friday, Saturday & Sunday under cold-front bluebird skies. Bass were scattered but all that we caught were healthy. From Big Creek to SK bridge we fished a little of everything and a lot of a couple things. I really hoped to get a spoon and spinnerbait bite going. We marked many fish on sonar and there was plenty of wind to encourage us. We just couldn;t get anything going on either pattern. Color 62 Wiggle warts and a homemade bluegill skirted jig with single grub tail produced the most fish and they were not plentiful. I did get this 6.8 on the jig though and that made me feel better.
  5. Thanks for the pictures. We did a lot of running around today and I kept thanking God that she granted me the privilege of being in the Ozarks. Absolutely stunning.
  6. Sounds interesting. I wasn't aware that a hole would alter the action. I will have to experiment with that. As you can probably tell, I have as much fun tinkering with the lures as I do fishing them.
  7. As far as being "too far", I remember that thought when the flasher came out. There is no stopping our quest for a way to catch those green fish and let them go again.
  8. I appreciate the tips. I made the ones shown for vertical jigging. I did make some 3/4 oz slab spoons also and will try it as recommended. CindyJo provided some great info on another thread that we plan to try also.
  9. Thanks for that post, CindyJo. We are finally getting out to wet a line and your post is very helpful. I'm glad I made some smaller spoons.
  10. Halloween Spoon
  11. Thanks for the reports QB. I expect to finally get out of here and head that direction on Wednesday. Hope to see you on the water. we will be the guys in an older Triton with the orange OA sticker
  12. Congratulations, Stone. I'm glad to hear the reschedule did not hurt the turnout
  13. Sorry the fishing was tough but appreciate the report.
  14. I think the idea is to fish this jig along the bottom pretty fast, just bumping it along at a pretty steady rate letting the bait move around a lot.
  15. The official bait tester selecting the next item. "Look Gam-pa, it swims" :}
  16. I doubt there are a lot of highly respected and highly paid individuals with prominent neck tattoos. But Yadier Molina is at the top of that short list. Go Cardinals. It's not winter until the Fall Classic is over
  17. So how was the tournament? Good turn out? I haven't heard any news.
  18. My friend dubbed it the "Big Tick". I just recently figured out how to make the claws and tentacles a different color. Hopefully it will work well on the swing hook jig?
  19. I'll send you a few. I have the eyes on your swimbaits but still have to seal them. Hope to finish tomorrow and mail them.
  20. I been playing in the Skunkworks (my garage) and made up these swinging hook jigs. The small "finesse" jigs (1/8 & 3/16 oz) have thin-wire 2/0 hooks, the medium ones (1/4 & 5/16 oz) have 3/0 thin-wire hooks and the larger (3/8 & 7/16 oz) jigs have heavy-gage Gamakatsu 4/0 hooks. I just hope there is still a jig bite by the time I get back to the lake
  21. That helped me keep from blowing up my reel while learning to pitch. I'm still not real good at, though. I think I am just reinforcing bad habits at this point
  22. Wow, great report. Thanks. Did you catch them on the orange or white spoon?
  23. Wow, sounds like fun. Thanks for sharing that. I don't care what Champ says about you, you are alright
  24. I think I have answered all who have emailed and/or sent PM's. I apologize if I missed you, but f I did, please send a new message. I expect to be up on both legs soon and able to get everything out. I am looking forward to hearing how they work out for you. Thanks to all of you. Respectfully, Mike K.
  25. Wow, great painting and story. Thanks for sharing it.
