  1. If you would like to assist me in evaluating any of these, drop me a PM with your mailing address and I will send some. I would just ask that you only request what you plan to fish with fairly soon. I would also request that you provide feedback.
  2. I haven't always typed my best stuff after drinking - I guess that happens to others as well. I am really looking forward to getting out as soon as the last surgery is complete and I am getting around again. "Have you ever seen a bait called the mega miki- " Those really look cool. Let me know if you want to try some of the new stuff. Would welcome the feedback.
  3. Thanks, I have been think about trying them and put them on my Christmas list. Already using the boonie hat and long sleeve Coolmax shirts in the heat
  4. The Huddleston Jig also works well rigged exposed or with buried hook. Here is a picture of it rigged. I think Mitch has a craw that looks more like what we have here in the Ozarks though. https://huddbaits.com/index.php?p=21&cat=1&prod=2
  5. I am using several of them, depending on what color I am making or how hot I need to make it. Some bubble at high temp and others have an amber color that doesn't play well with light colors. MF, Calhoun & CC mostly but I use a custom made softener on all of it.
  6. I haven't been able to get out fishing for a few weeks, but have been busy in the shop. I am happy with how these plastics run in the test tank but they haven't been "fish tested" yet. All suggestions welcome. 1.) 3.8" Paddle Tail Swimbait in Smokey Pearl/Pepper. I made this one with a deep hook slot but left enough thickness on the back so it can be fished on an open hook jig. Much softer plastic than commercial baits gives it really good action. 2.) 3.4" Blunt-Nose Ringed Paddle Tail Swimbait in GP Pepper with purple & copper flake. This fits nicely on a larger worm-nose jig (like the big brother of the Ned jig shown below it) or a bullet head jig. I am modifying my Worm Nose and Bullet jig molds to accept wire weed-guards. This Swimbait has a very thin tail that rocks with the slightest movement. 3.) It doesn't show real well in the picture but this is a 2 color, blue-shad, laminate 3" grub. I'm still working on the 4" mold. 4.) 3.5" Paddle Tail Swimbait for use on an open jig, maybe an A rig. This one is just one of my play colors while working on a bleeder. Like the others, soft with good action. 5.) 4.5" Giant Tick. I've been making this for a while but just figured out how to inject different color claws and tentacles. This has been a good flipping bait but is too big for a jig trailer IMO
  7. It looks like you are wearing fishing gloves, Cindyjo? How do you like them?

    Wart Help

Suspendots on regular warts worked very well for me in the 90's. I just got them all hung up and lost in cedar trees. Kids all through college and weddings paid off, it may be time to try again.
  9. Amen. It takes 2 sides to create a standoff. Bastages, ALL of them.

    Guides

I suspect blocking guides (and other resourceful folks) from lake access is much like trying to block flowing water from heading down hill;)
  11. I am no fan of the Jackasses or the Elephants. I can't see an ounce of difference except that it is sometimes a another flavor of dung being spewed. I was told once the Greek root of the word politician means "paid liar". Hard for me to argue. Darn glad to hear folks are still launching their boats.
  12. I would hope most of us could see a large difference between access to a monument honoring fallen veterans and access to recreation areas. In a significant way, those guys have assured our freedom to enjoy ourselves. Cutting off veteran access to promised and needed services is the most unforgivable part of this shutdown, IMO. Oh the SHAME!
  13. If you have a bass boat, can you troll from the front deck with the trolling motor? I have a 36v TM and it cruises pretty well at higher settings.

    Sweetwater

I hear that the Smallies are biting . Apparently, we don't have near as many of them on the upper end as they do in the lower lake.
  15. I should just send you the $5 and skip the TW order. That way my wife wouldn't be mad at me when the packages come in the mail
  16. I probably shouldn't get started but it would make a lot more sense that all our Congressmen and Senators be the FIRST people missing a check, right after the boss. If they send the Rangers home, who is going to watch those barricades?
  17. That site always adds a Franklin to my credit card every time I visit.
  18. Great report. Thanks for the side imaging pics. I have that feature on my HD10's but am no good at understanding it.

    Question

It may be a power issue. I had a similar problem, replaced the battery the unit was wired to and the problem went away.
  20. I have the Powell Max Composite Deep Cranking Rod and it is fantastic. It is almost 8' long and casts a deep crankbait a country mile. Has a great bend that really helps when getting a big fish close to the boat. What I like best about it though is that it is easy on me - no strain on retrieve and very light.

    Pepe La Pew

We did better today, hitting the lake after church, SK bridge to Campbell Pt. My wife did great on WM color 3.5" ringed swimbait on a bullet head jig. These are jigs and plastic that I made and we were testing. Clearly I was working them too fast as she was beating me 5 to 1 and she had a limit of keepers while I only had one. I don't know if this had anything to do with it but she was using Power Pro braid with 20 lb FC leader and I was using 10 lb FC. We worked main lake points and had our best fish targeting 25' on the inside of the points. It was just a beautiful day to be on the water and we fished until 7:30. Back to the grind tomorrow, but what a great few days to be on this lake!
  22. 8 am to 11:30 am - Nada
  23. Here is a link to a similar reel http://www.tackledirect.com/tld25.html#
  24. With the storm and some business issues we got on the water late; about 12;30. We went up the Kings past the marina and worked bluff ends. It was slow but after trying DD Cranks, Warts & Spinnerbaits we finally got into some LM with Chatterbaits and skirted TT grubs. They were spitting crawdad parts with orange coloring. I worked the chatterbait like a jig & swimbait. They liked it best jerked off the rocks then swimming a bit. If they missed it they most often came back for it. We quit at 4:30 and only had about 6 LM and 2 spots. Most of the LM's were keepers but not much more. All were inside main lake cuts/coves in 12' to 18'.
