  1. the thing i see from Mitch's study it the hewer newer wart should have a harder down pitch. I bet if you set the two of them together in a clear tank where you can see them from the side that they will not have the same attitude at rest. It seems I can remember the old wart would sometimes bump on something and almost go slack for a minute. There must be something in the way the two make contact with the bottom. I no longer use anything that causes much resistance for very long. I was never oversold on them as I remember. I had a lot of confidence in a couple old wooden Bomber water dog. I do not know if they even sell them anymore. I caught 2 bass over the years slightly over 7 pounds in Wapappello Lake on them. I think the two I had have been lost for sometime.
  2. Al whathe does is exactly that I do. I think the differance in the two presoectives is the higher sides on my big targa deep V. I could pich out of a canoe sitting down but I would not like to. and yes it is easy to get a 1/4 oz or even less out 35 ft if the tackle is balanced, line, rod and reel. you can be very acurate with pitching. for me it is conserving the shoulder. I forgot two things you need A fast reel and a educated thumb.
  3. chief were on different wave lengths. What I call flipping is when I have about 15 ft of line out off the reel. I just pick up the line in one hand give the line a swing about 5 ' or whatever from the tip and drop it into a spot. Pitching I let about 5 foot of line hang of the rod tip swing the line at the target and let the line fed from the reel. It may be different than many people do but I do not know what many people do. I can tell you it saves a lot of stress on the shoulder.
  4. I was looking at this picture very closely and if you do that you will see a bit of darker coloration on the tail and hind quarters. I think it is a Tiger srtiped cat house or feral cat. my daughter has a big Tom that hits the scale at 20 lbs and not fat on him.
  5. I. do not do a lot flipping except in back of docks over cables. Those cast are from about 15-20 ft max. pitching however is something I use a lot party because of bad shoulders. Also like to fish the back corners of dock earlier in the season and I think i can cause a disturbance buy going back between the docks with a boat so I stand off and pitch. I use a preferably a 7 ft rod with a very fast reel bait casting reel on it . Most of these cast or from 30 to 35 ft. from me to the target. I think pitching can be much more accurate than regular casting at that range for me. not to mention saving stress on the shoulder.
  6. I have a friend who is a Okuma dealer. Among other reels he sells. He has a lot if good words for them. They certainly are not cheap.
  7. I would have been out this afternoon but instead I was in Hermann Mo playing carpenter and drywall hanger. now i come home to wjat is going to be a cold week again. we could even see a lot more ice if there is a lot mor low temperatures than high every day.
  8. I agree with wrench and Mitch. flipping. flipping might be done sitting down . I would not want to do it. Pitching would be real hard. How long are these pitches your talking about chief. AL To compare Pitching with a fly rod to Pitching with bait casting or spinning reel is is not really comparable.
  9. I have never heard of a totally new survey map done of LOZ. Even the power company uses those made in the 30s. For real accuracy I would think would require hydro sounding . That would be a massive undertaking costing a lots of money. I can see taking the maps from the 30s and through a computer generate a contour bottom. Then maybe it works in conjunction with your sonar and forms a picture that way. I do not really know there are so many docks that will effect it too. I want to research it and talk to some people around here. Maybe I will learn something
  10. That (1) exposes is pretty broad. I think it is left to the cop or whoever makes the pinch. you almost cannot beat it.
  11. number 7 public display of explicit seveal material. There has to be more to what this means than that. thats maybe where indecent exposure os covered. you beat me to it fins. that is what i was thinking
  12. I am j ust very glad and surprised. It broke in such small peices.
  13. Just last week there LOZ was locked in with 8" of ice. We had a cool weather with cold nights after that The days were hot very sunny either. there were almost no cracks showing. In general every indication that there was not much progress in the ice situation. It was that way last night when i went to bed. I was hoping to see rain coming down when I got up. All I seen when looking out the window in the morning on my deck was what looked Ike we had a small shower. The temperature was about 50 and there was only a light breeze. It was pretty depressing . A couple hours later the warm wind got strong. Then almost like magic great pieces of ices began disintegrate without cracking. The wind was so strong it was picking up ice chunks about the size of a Cue ball and hurling so many of them through the air and across the ice. At times looked like a hail storm. That has been going on all day. It is now 3:15 and from my house on a major point I can see no ice on the Gravois Arm anymore. I suppose all that ice out there was already shattered. Was a great relief to a lot of is around here. Most of use were expecting to see severe dock damage all over the lake.
  14. i have never seen a ice break up like this. how we went from 8" of ice to all that soft slushy stuff I will never know. Yeah we dodged the bullet for sure.
  15. I am totally flabbergasted. i really expected a problem this year with all the Ice. everything out there right now is just dissolving. there are some cove sized chunks, but you can see the waves passing under them. i am so relieved. The big sheets are really nothing more than a big bunch of thick slush.
  16. Ice must be getting thinner. I am seeing some dead shad under it. Not a lot just here and there. In the last twenty minute 30 minute a hole has opened up a couple hundred yards long and half that wide.and its advancing fast. Nice but we are going we are going into another real cold period.
  17. I pee all over the darn yard. Neighbor widow lady caught me one time. She is not bad either. But she is nuts.
  18. well if there isa kill you will see it and smell it shortly
  19. I think it could happen if they were nailed for indecent exposure. Well i do not worry about it. They would have to look awful close to see anything anyway.
  20. that is how it works and there should not be people on that lust who have not been convicted by a court of law. this whole thing has gotten out of hand.
  21. the amount of ice on those lake may result in a fish kill because they are so shallow.
  22. WARFRAT like i say the last one i have ever heard of was 20 ft contour interval and about 1930. It is not to be trusted. the lake is very old and the contour of the bottom changes in many small ways. I would think they would have to have a hydro graphic made to be accurate. If this new one comes out with more contour intervals it is even worse since they would have to be guessing. besides that a lot of breaks are very small. i find most of mine by mistake. a break like that can show up anywhere. You have a 2 ft drop om a ledge on even a 5 ft contour and it will not show.
  23. what do you mean by HD. have they come from some sort of hydro graphic work. if not I have never heard of it. the only contour maps I know where ever made were 20 ft interval make around 1930.
  24. You can bet your bottom dollar on that Ollie.
  25. I do not really know what it is. but i do know onetimesomeone was messing with Lilly. i cane and happened to look at the new members list because it seem sort of long when i checked the dates and times most of them were mimutes apart I repoerted it to Phil and he seen it rhen took some action to block it I noticed some of these were about a hour apart. But it coud be cabin frever like Phil says
