To me all these shirts and whatever are all about advertising products you may not even believe in. That points to some kind of moral failure that is deaply inveded in our society.

I do not have any logo T shirts. I do have one though that says. I am so old i can... laugh, cough, pee, sneeze & fart at the same time! I do not believe in promoting products that I not truly believe in.

I am going to throw this Ipad in the trash after this post if I can set up on the computer. I. am old and have a good dose of the problems that come with it. But this thing is beyond me. When I would tell my daughter and her husband about it they thought surely it was my imagination. This past christmas while they were here for 2 days I turned it over to them to look at and use. Both have been leading programers and the son in law has a PHD in computer science. Plus many years of experience. He said he has never ever seen anything do some of the things this Ipad does. I will not list them but he thinks down loading and deleting a lot of games as I do when the grand kid come for a visit has something to do with it.

The whole thing stared over Lurkers going and fishing their spots. I understand your situation and I sympathize with you. These people are telling you however where to go and what to fish with and the chances of it being of value when you get there are not good. There are just so many other factors to consider after you get to the spot. If I was you I would have a small selection of lure and study how to use those. Then use your basic knowledge of fish behavior and go find the spots yourself and you certainly will. I have told a friend that owns a tackle store about the location of a soecific crappie bed. It took only a couple weeks before the place had boats on it from daylight to dark. He isstill my friend but I do hot tell him such things. So that is why I do not talk about those specific sort of things. I might say something like we caught them at about 10 ft in the brush. But if you ask me what brush pile Do not expect a answer. If I do ot will be the same one I was given years ago. They are where you find them. That is the best help I can really give.

Champ You have no idea who might be reading I these post. General fishing discussion discussion about tackle techniqiue and that sort of thing is fine. Telling exactly the what, when amd where of fishing some body of water is really of limited value anyway. Patterns can change in a instant and often do. So even If I did post that stuff it will not guarantee a good trip. Beside who knows what he does with what he does when heisdishing. Does he handles the fish after he catches them propeely or does he rip the hook out of their mouth or throat because he does not have the experience to remove one or set the hook properly. Does he followgoodxonservstion praxtices as to limit and size. Chances are you.will not be there to see. So if you do not want to attact insects you do not leave food on the table. Well I can understand some of you posting like you do about spots. Your in bussiness down there. Its sort of like selling points for everythimg from you bussiness to overpriced tackle. Then for some others it is just self promotion under the guise of being a good guy

I only fish in the evenings most of the time from 6 till dark. Except in the spring season when I am out longer. I wear long sleeve fishing shirts from spring till late fall. I do a lot to try to protect myself from the sun. In spite of this every year when I go to see my dematoligist she freezes things and takes other things off. Im 75 and these problem with the skin did not start till I was in my 60's. She said as you age that is themain factor not the sun. I have had 3 or 4 skin cancers. It is something most of you will be faced with. Wrench your younger. And sort of lucky too. But every summer you kind of get to the color of stained maple so be careful.

I wpuld love to fish Africa like a friend of mine that goes down there for a church every couple of year at the risk of life and limb to deliver medical supplies. He has caught some big strange toothy fish. The one I would like to catch mostly is a Nile Perch. I will nevervmake it gut it is a hope.

Better I. know her wrench the more I want to call her Pat. Only differance is after 51 years she is gping to buy what she is going to buy. It does not work both way though.
-
That is why I was advising wrench to be careful about someone learning to use a bull whip with it.

If table rock is anything like LOZ the best crappie fishing will be in beds stuffed deep into the center of large marinas this time of year. I would almost bet there are are a few such places down there that a select few are allowed to fish. I used to go to Mill Stone Marina here. I knew the owners before they lost it. I do not know the new owners and am not about to take a chance of getting into trouble.
-
I got ashort one. Nile Perch
-
Yes I think you would. But then again if it got into the wrong hands someone could learn to accurately use a bull whip with it. You might want to think about that a bit more.
-
Well the days are starting to get longer asure sign that eing ison the way. Time for the Leaders in fishing for fishermen developers to come out of the woodwork. I do not see how it can help you at all. You have things like wind, type lure ,rod action etc to contend with.

Two Proposals That Could Eliminate 85% Of Mdc Funding If Passed
Old plug replied to bs1827's topic in Conservation Issues
All levels of goverment waste money. Someone I know got over $1,000,000 for a project that never happened. Then when that person tried to return the money to the dept of the government responsible the goverment office that was suppose to do the project went bananas because he even suggested it. So the people sat there for almost a year doing something they were not suppose to do to use up the money for doing something they should have been doing. Bet it was chief. Either a editor or the reporter himself with a ax to grind. Isn't that what all the news people do just about now. I do not think there is much free press left in this country that solely reports news. They tend to create new more thanreport it. -

I fo along with Quill and Lilly on this. Onthe other hand I have not seen a conservation agent on LOZ doing checks in at least 8-10 yrs. If there was ever a place that need of it its LOZ. As far as buying food, seminars and all tat sort of rubbish. Sorry to say I am 100 % sure it is true. Loose spending of taxpayers money is something that is deeply rooted at all levels of goverment. It is about impossible to eraditate. It is a combination of legislative actions, agency leadership, and politics. I could tell you a few stories would make you so angry you might have a heart attack. I certainly will not start that on a public forum. -

The 1/8 cent sales tax is mis stated in the pease. It is a 1/8 cent tax on soft drinks. I was. a strong supporter of that back when they were trying to get it. I got things I do not like about the MDC one of them being that they pay given money to judges and other political figures to maintain property its natural state. In some cases it has. resulted in a private hunting preserve. They do other things of this sort. But all the agencies blow money. Local state and federal. -
One thing about zebra mussels that really bother me is that I read they retain toxins in their shell. If you have certain species of fish feeding on them heavily that is like getting a supper shot of whatever is in there and it will build up. I have a very strong notion it had something to do with the decrease in blue cat fishing on LOZ

i really like gray bucktails around here for pitching docks in the fall. A few years back I decided I wanted a slower drop on the 1/2 oz bucktails. So I tied a few with and flared the hair in back of the jig head and it looks like a big hackel. I trimmed it a bit and it acted like a dive break on aplane. It worked even after it it got depressed some from use. Now that I am starting again I want to make a few of them in diffent weights. That kind of thing is what draws me to bucktail jigs.I use trailors on mine 90% of the time they are brush hogs
-
I will take you all's word for it. I am going to order a few tails. I just got started a few weeks ago after years of not doing any type of lure building. What happened was I bought 1/8 oz and 1/16 oz pony head spinners in 100 lots for $18 a few years ago. I was running short of the 1/8 and went to buy more and they wanted $20 for 20 That was it for me. I never was real happy with them anyway. They had size 1 and 2 gold hooks on them that were a bit to strong for my taste. I went up and bugged Wrench and I was astounded at all the new materiials Etc. I came home dug up the old stuff I had from before out and started tying and molding again. I just made 2 doz 1/8 and a dozen 1/16 with 0/1 mustad bronze hooks they pull loose pretty easy in the brush well and hook better. As far as the bass jigs go. I am old in my my ways. I really prefer prefered bucktail jigs. I like to amend them to fit the need.
-
Has anyone used Barlow's on line to order fishing and jig making things from. I am particularly interest in the quality of their bucktails

Like it or not the young americans today sort of look down on hard labor. Its just not the cool thing to do now days. That is why you see so many small business contractors using mexicsn laborers that come up here for a few months in the summer. My son will pay $15 a hour and uses mexicans when he has a large project. I got angry at him about it. He told me I would be happy to use Americans but there are three immediate problems. They do hot show up for work, they have to be pushed to get work out of them when they are there and drugs and alcohal. I might add he and his friends solved the problem for the most part. They are all in the building trades and provide the labor each other need when ever they can.

What's Going On In The World Of Crappie Fishing?
Old plug replied to BHowe's topic in Lake of the Ozarks
Ia, certain most of the crappie are coming out of large marina and condo docks. By out of I mean not around you got to get on the doxk and fish straight down most times right off the center walkways. -

Many bowling establishment are facing a severe decline while maintainxe cost are rising into outer space. the one here in laurie is struggleing. most of what keeps it open is the owners love of the sport. In this area he is also faced with what used to be a senior population turning into a elderly popularion with health problems to boot. I had to stop 3 yrs ago because of arthritis. I do miss it and maybe I could bowl in one league but my average would be at laest 30 pins under the 195 it was at one time.
